Taxiarchis is fantastic! I would absolutely recommend it. Frank and his Family were the most welcoming, accommodating and helpful team of people. From arrival to check out they were attentive warm and so helpful. Our Children were spoken to and engaged with and the room was fab, really sizeable with the most beautiful view from the terrace (all rooms have this view!). The air con in the room was great and the little kitchenette really handy. The cleanliness of the rooms (in fact the whole place) was something I particularly wanted to highlight, our rooms were constantly serviced with lovely clean towels and sheets. The location was fantastic, equi distance between the main Symi Harbour (Yialos) and the more sleepy and relaxed Pedi - both a 15-20 min stroll. The breakfast was something else... absolutely delicious, plentiful and every day something slightly different on offer, its such a family orientated place, they take care to notice your preferences and would make special little additions to the table for us... please try the omlette it is simply delicious! Frank had us collected from Symi harbour on arrival - which makes life much easier, he also dropped us back to the harbour to catch the Ferry back to Rhodes... unfortunately the Sebecco Ferry company had changed their schedule (without informing anybody) & our ferry had already departed (big problem when there is a connecting flight to catch!). Frank was incredible, he parked us at a coffee shop whilst he sped around the harbour trying to find a solution for us (even though this was clearly not his problem). Having arranged for us to take the next ferry, he also arranged for the Ferry company to lay on a complimentary Taxi from Rhodes Port to the airport - which all went smoothly, thanks to Frank and we just made our flights (by the skin of our teeth!!). Whilst in the taxi from the port to the airport, we had a call from Frank to check on us! Thank you Frank - above and beyond! We will return! xx

A longer holiday!

I highly recommend Taxiarchis. Everything was impeccable at this hotel: The hotel owner, his wife, daughter and granddaughter are always kind and helpful; the breakfast was amazing at the terrace overlooking Pedi Bay. The feta/bacon/omelette, fresh-made little pizza slices, Greek pastries and whatnot… simply amazing. Frank picked me up from the port and drove back on my return date which is a great help especially if you just had a long night travelling. The room is cleaned everyday. There are markets/kiosks around the hotel and also in a walking distance 2 amazing Greek restaurants (Kali Strata and Georgia & Maria). We will stay at Taxiarchis the next time we visit beautiful Symi Island ❤️

Taxiarchis was a very well kept hotel with garden and a great view over Pedi. It's a long walk up the Kali Strata by foot from Yialos, but if you want a quiet place, this is the place you should go for! The family who runs it are very welcoming and warm people, who wants to make you feel welcome. We were offered to be picked up at the harbour when arriving, and we got a lift to the harbour upon leaving (very nice because of the walk up the Kali Strata). They have a great terrace with view for the breakfeast serving, and there were several choices for breakfeast, with fruits from the garden and eggs/omelettes and so on. The apartment was very clean, and cleaned everyday and changed towels. The area is very quiet, so no noise from cars and people. The only "noise" is noise from the nature; roosters, donkeys, church , cicadas, so you feel like you wake up in the nature :-) Nice terrace with shadow in the afternoon, and sunrise and sun in the morning. We travelled as a family, and some of us has stayed at Taxiarchis several times before and would recommend Taxiarchis. Thank you to Taxiarchis, Maria, Carsten, Irene

We booked for a 2 bedroom apartment. We got an apartment with 1 bedroom and 1 mezzanine. We know that sometimes in Greece a mezzanine counts as an bedroom- but it wasn't stated in the booking, that one of the bedrooms was a mezzanine, so we would have loved to know this before! The beds in the mezzanine was not long, so only for small people (not grown men).

Taxiarchis is in a very peaceful location overlooking the countryside with Pedi bay in the distance. Our apartment was very spacious and comfortable. It had everything that we needed and appears to have been recently refurbished. The bed was very comfy and had good quality pillows. Frank the owner is a lovely man and he picked us up from the port and took us back there at the end of our stay, he was always on hand with helpful advice. The breakfast was plentiful and fabulous. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, they wouldn't be disappointed.

Great location, glad we chose to stay up in the village rather than the port. It was so peaceful, yet within walking distance of both the port and pedi beach. Return walk is a 20 minute uphill trek, but there's a regular bus service if you can't manage the walk. Several great restaurants within a few minutes walk. Breakfast was fabulous, served on the terrace with view of Pedi that was just amazing. Clean, spacious accommodation and a proper family business. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I'm sure we will return.

The view is absolutely stunning, as well as the property. The owner is really very kind, he did pick us up from the ferry, which was very convenient. The room have a terasse with the view, as well as full equipped kitchenette.The breakfast was served and it was excellent, especially the omelette as well as the greek specialities. We liked the coffee and the juice. It was very peaceful place. To the downtown you can take stairs, oposit the supermarket and then continue down the hill for 20 minutes. You can take as well bus for 2,50 EUR which is going to Pedi beach where you can take beach taxi to different beaches, the bus continues to the center. In the center you have several shops, cafes and as well small and nice beach. We did loved this place as it gave as really the very unique and autentic holiday feeling in Simy.. Next time we will booked the place again.

The hosts Frantzeskos (or Frank) and Eva, they met us and picked us up from the port and let us have an early check in when we arrived because we were tired from travelling all night by the boat. They also gave us an extra breakfast without any charge. They also dropped us to the port and let us have a late check out as the new people were arriving late. The breakfast, it was delicious with lots of choices of fresh food. Eva even remembered what we liked and she ensured that we have these options again, the next day. The view of the Pedi, especially at night with the moon. The place is in Ano Symi but you can reach it also by bus and you don't have to climb one step, that is very convenient when you have large luggages. The room, it was large and nice comfortable mattress and pillows. Finally, the friendly cat of the area, she was coming every night to our balcony. It was a great hospitality and Symi is a beautiful island.

The breakfast, as reviewed by many others, were excellent - yoghurt and honey, wonderful nectarines and watermelons, cooked omelette/eggs/bacon if wanted, pastries, fruit juice, coffee....nothing was too much trouble. View from the breakfast room (outside) was stunning as was the view from the balcony. Rooms were comfortable and cleaned daily. Water pressure wasn't perfect but if you want what you might be used to at home, stay at home! Location was great for local Greek tavernas, mid-way between Symi and Pedi - 3 mins from the bus stop. The main noise was from the chickens rather than traffic or people. We expected it to be clean and relatively basic - having stayed in a number of Greek islands over the years - and it was at the top end of family run places to stay. Frank and his family couldn't have been kinder -

Nothing we didn't actually like - we expected a walk to and from the beach and we got it - it wasn't a problem. We expected it to be hot in August - it was but there was air-con.....

First and foremost, I would like to emphasize the hospitality of Frank and his family. They pick us up from the port as soon as we arrived to Symi (he did the same organization on the way back once our holiday was over), it is very worth to mention the wonderful breakfasts that they prepared every morning, the cleanliness of the room and higher level of hygiene on the common places, higher attention to all the details moreover their smiling faces made our holiday wonderful from beginning to the end. The facility located at the top of the Pedi Bay, so it was possible to reach Pedi beach with a short walk like 20-25 min and to reach to island center via Kali Strata stairs as well. For this reason I believe the hotel was in a very ideal location in terms of accessing to popular places of Symi. I strongly recommend staying at Taxiarchis to those who are planning to come this paradise island!

Good size comfortable efficiency in a convenient location away from the crowds of the harbour. Nice view to Pedi from the balcony , comfy bed , impeccable housekeeping . Pick up / drop off a huge plus , convenient location for eat , drinks and bus. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful ( took care of two meals ! ) . The family did everything needed and more to make us comfortable . Loved and would stay over and over.
