Its location was great for us, we had a hire car, and this put us partway between Vik and Reykjavik. The free onsite parking is great, and the low light pollution in the area meant that we saw the aurora clearly almost every night of our trip. There is a gas station next door and Selfoss town is only around 15/20 mins away. Kitchen had all of the equipment we needed, and staff were helpful :) The apartment was warm and beds comfortable.

Not a real issue but for larger groups, only having one combined toilet/shower room takes some navigating.

The location on the beach was fantastic… We had a clear sighting of northern lights across the ocean. The room was as described and clean and well facilitated. Appreciated the tea and coffee provided. Washing up liquid, shampoo and shower gel all in apartment. Plenty of blankets and pillows. Baking paper also present. Salt and pepper provided. Easy check in and check out.

The toilet flusher was faulty and took some faffing to stop it continuously filling. A larger frying pan and a second oven tray would have been useful. The shower wasn’t great in draining so squeegee needed to keep water within shower. Not property fault but street lighting and accommodation lights outside is throughout the night so not ideal for aurora spotting but if you go into beach front you can attempt to hide behind the building. Checkin was good but noticed some hand made items for sale in reception but never managed to catch reception open again to look.

The apartment was clean with well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Fridge, kettle and microwave were clean and worked well. Both bed & sofa bed were comfortable. Apartment was spacious enough for 4 adults. It's in a quiet little town but you can take a stroll by the sea and around the small town of Bakki.

The outdoor sign Bakki Apartment was not very obvious from main road until you are at the front door. Instead you should look for Eyrarbakki Hostel instead. We were given the apartment at the back where parking area in front of the apartment to seems to be still in renovations which didn't give a good first impression. But inside the apartment was great so the issue with parking is negligible.

We had an apartment for our family of five and we immediately felt right at home. The kitchen was perfectly equipped for making simple meals (which will save you A FORTUNE in Iceland) and there were plenty of places to sleep. Mary was so friendly and welcoming even though our check-in time got messed up by car trouble. Right behind the property there is access to the ocean and just one km west there's great swimming at the black sand beach. From here we easily explored all of southern iceland.

Honestly, I would move into this apartment. We loved it and if we return to Iceland I'll book far enough in advance to ensure we get the same place.

The wifi was one of the best we have ever used in any rental accommodation. My family loved the underfloor heating but it did get really hot sometimes! This was easily managed by opening the windows so not a big issue.

Due to cooking in the apartment, it would have been good if we could have had some air freshener or scented candles. Everything in the apartment was immaculate but the shower is starting to look tired. It either needs a freshen up or deep cleaning.

I booked this hostel quickly when my itinerary changed due to bad weather and road conditions. It ended up being one of my favorite hostels in Iceland and I even booked an additional night because I enjoyed it so much. The staff was very kind and I found the price-quality to be excellent. The rooms were big and so was the shower/WC area. There was a TV lounge area as well as a large dining room.

It's a little off the beaten path, in a small town with no shops around. However, this didn't bother me as I already had everything I needed, and the town of Selfoss was only a 15 min drive away. The kitchen wasn't huge, but more than enough.

Clean and comfortable apartment. Nice area for birding. Walkable to a nearby restaurant. We had a late check-in after the office closed, but were able to call via whatsapp to finish. The activities guide to the area was nice. Gas station next door is convenient for snacks.

Space is tight in a studio apartment as expected, and the rooms ran a little hot. Opening the window and door helps so nothing too out of the ordinary. Nice place.

The facilities were modern and well-maintained, the owner was incredibly responsive and accommodating as I missed the check in time. I chose this hostel to spend my birthday at alone and I couldn’t have spent it better. It was an incredibly cozy stay, great kitchen and bathrooms and easy check-in and check-out, and Selfoss is right next door for groceries and other essentials.

The location was excellent - within an hour's drive of most of the places we wanted to go and right next to a black sand beach. The room was spacious and well equipped with very good cooking facilities. TV and internet were good. Selfoss, the local town, is a very good place for grocery shopping and has some nice cafes.

The apartments have been built into an old warehouse building and as a result the bedroom windows open into the warehouse and say 'do not open'. This meant they were not well ventilated. A few things didn’t work (e.g. light over the bathroom mirror; remote control for bedroom TV) and the staff were hardly ever there (though you could speak to them on the phone).

Wonderful !! The flat/room had everything..! It was very spacious, had amenities, microwave, fridge, toaster, tea, shampoo, conditioner. The outside of the hotel was not the nicest looking but we had a really good time. Location is fantastic, staff is really kind and friendly giving recommendations. It is located by the beach and only 10min away from Selfoss. We went horse riding and had so many walks by the beach. We also saw the northern lights not far from the hotel, chasing them on our own.. very nice!
