This hotel was a nice surprise. We didn't expect much but found a really nice and very comfortable hotel. The hotel is located in a rural area close to road 1 and it is an excellent option where to start / end your visit to the south and you don't want to enter Reikiavik. It is also a perfect good option if you want to visit Reykanes peninsula before heading to the airport. The hotel was extremelly comfortable. You have several small commnon areas where to enjoy your stay. In particular we liked a kind of greenhouse room with a glass roof where you can enjoy the norther lights and sunset by the side of a stove or with a blanket. Unfortunately, it was not the right time of the year for northern lights. A good place also to watch birds. Dozens of swans feeding nearby. Don't think the farmer will be very happy about this. The hotel has a small bar and you can enjoy two jacuzzi pools and a sauna at the back of the building. There is a large common room where you can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies 24h. The room was good size, beds are comfortable and wifi worked all right.

Nothing in particular. May be the shower was a bit small.

Probably our favourite place in our 2 week tour. Very quiet as it's in a rural setting but only 7km to the town. The host is very friendly and helpful and has printed maps with places of interest and local amenities on. There is free tea, coffee and juice from machines in the breakfast area along with nice cakes, biscuits and fruit. There are several little lounges with sofas and games and a pleasant conservatory so you can sit comfy with your drinks. There's also a hot tub and sauna if that's how you like to relax or for the adventurous and reasonably fit, do the hiking trail to the warm stream you can sit in - despite the distances on the signs, it's about 8km return. Breakfast is a decent spread with hot options and a fabulous waffle maker! Currently it's quite a small hotel so evening meals are not offered, but there are several places to eat in the town and it actually encouraged us to try new things - including the famous Icelandic hot dog 'with everything on it'. There's also a supermarket and petrol station as you get to town. Well located for visiting Golden Circle attractions.

Wouldn't change a thing.

This place is just a bit outside of Selfoss, so it’s super convenient if you’re exploring the area but want somewhere a little quieter to crash. The vibe is super chill—lots of cozy common spaces where you can hang out, read, or just lounge around. One of my favorite things? Snacks. All. Day. Seriously, it was so nice to come back from a day out and grab a little something without having to think about it. Plus, the free breakfast in the morning was solid—plenty to fuel up before heading out. And the hot tub + sauna situation? Amazing. The sauna looks like a giant wooden barrel (in the best way), and both it and the hot tub have really nice views. Perfect for relaxing after a long day of adventuring. Overall, super comfy, super friendly, and just a really great place to stay. Would 100% go back.

The pillows were not the best. Otherwise, everything else was great.

This was one of my favourite places I stayed in Iceland! I would definitely rebook. The reception is super welcoming and nice, there is a relaxing lounge area with comfy chairs and microwave/kettle, the rooms are spotless and there's a barrel sauna in the back! The breakfast is also fantastic with lots of variety and high quality food.

There's no mini fridge but I learned Iceland hotels don't really have mini fridges or microwaves in the guests room. So considering that, there was nothing I didn't like

Convenient location if you flew to Keflavik, rented a car and went on a trip or vice versa. Next to the road, but quiet. Under the mountain with its own thermal springs. That's why the hotel has its own mini spa area with two thermal baths and a sauna with a panoramic window, free for visitors. Open until 10 pm, but can be longer. It's so great to relax in a thermal bath after the road. The hotel also has very nice staff, there are constant free coffee, drinks, sweets for visitors and very nice areas for drinking tea outside the room. Decent included breakfast. The rooms themselves are quite spacious and have everything you need. The hotel is an excellent choice for a car traveler in Iceland.

Everything was great

This hotel is very close to the Reykjadalur hot spring river walk, so it's ideally located to have a rest after a day out in the wilderness. Outside there are two lovely hot tubs and a sauna, with nice views over the hills. The staff was friendly and readily available to take care of any requests. Free hot drinks and snacks are available in the main hall, as there's no kettle in the rooms.

Although the room was lovely, nicely decorated and warm, since it was a very windy day, there was a draft from the window, and I found it very difficult to sleep due to the noise coming from outside. If you're a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs. Breakfast was nice, but somewhat limited if you have dietary restrictions.

The hotel is very nice that you always have coffee or hot chocolate and cookies at the reception as a treat. The hotel is also in a great position for trips around the Golden Circle. The rooms are large enough. There is a sauna and a hot tub available for 24hours. It is great area for northern lights!

If there is anything to improve, it would be the quality of cleaning. But it is definitely not something that would deter me from visiting again. We would be very happy to visit here again. The price-quality ratio is probably the best we could get in Iceland.

For sure the warmer stay (from human and appearance points of view) we had in iceland. A big hall where to enjoy time with friends, a nice veranda where to read a book relaxing and most of all, bar/assitance service until night. Room was cosily furnished and bathroom ample. Breakfast was very high in quality considering the overall average of Iceland breakfast buffet.

The fact that outdoor facilities were not working because of renovation/period. Having some jakuzi/sauna after a fatiguating day would have made the stay a perfect one!

We arrived at Hotel Kvika after 5 days on the road. Its location is very strategic: close to Road 1 but at the same time far enough to be immersed in silence. Upon our arrival, the owner was incredibly kind and attentive to all our needs, providing us with information about the area and suggestions for local places and necessities, making our stay extremely comfortable. We stayed at the hotel in December, with only a few other visitors, and were able to enjoy the stunning surrounding landscape in total peace, both through the windows of the main lounge and from the panoramic room near the entrance, which offers an almost 360-degree view of the scenery and the night sky—all from the comfort of a heated space with cozy seating. The real highlight was the sauna and the hot tubs with 40°C water in the backyard, where we soaked until late at night in complete silence, surrounded by snow and under the starry sky. The continental breakfast was classic, well-stocked, and plentiful. The room was huge, with a beautiful bathroom and a spacious shower, extremely clean and comfortable. One of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip, where we were welcomed most warmly, all at an extremely affordable price. When we return to Iceland, we will definitely make another stop at Hotel Kvika!

Beautiful hotel - room was spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed. A lot of attention to detail in the room, the bathroom and throughout the hotel. It had a boutique feel and a nice personal touch everywhere. Staff were lovely throughout our 2 night stay. Breakfast was excellent. Very relaxing environment in the hotel building - with coffee and snacks available all day. Great location. Would definitely stay here again. Easy to find. Easy parking. Perfectly clean. Very good value for money.
