Convenient location if you flew to Keflavik, rented a car and went on a trip or vice versa. Next to the road, but quiet. Under the mountain with its own thermal springs. That's why the hotel has its own mini spa area with two thermal baths and a sauna with a panoramic window, free for visitors. Open until 10 pm, but can be longer. It's so great to relax in a thermal bath after the road. The hotel also has very nice staff, there are constant free coffee, drinks, sweets for visitors and very nice areas for drinking tea outside the room. Decent included breakfast. The rooms themselves are quite spacious and have everything you need. The hotel is an excellent choice for a car traveler in Iceland.
Everything was great

This hotel is very close to the Reykjadalur hot spring river walk, so it's ideally located to have a rest after a day out in the wilderness. Outside there are two lovely hot tubs and a sauna, with nice views over the hills. The staff was friendly and readily available to take care of any requests. Free hot drinks and snacks are available in the main hall, as there's no kettle in the rooms.
Although the room was lovely, nicely decorated and warm, since it was a very windy day, there was a draft from the window, and I found it very difficult to sleep due to the noise coming from outside. If you're a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs. Breakfast was nice, but somewhat limited if you have dietary restrictions.

The hotel is very nice that you always have coffee or hot chocolate and cookies at the reception as a treat. The hotel is also in a great position for trips around the Golden Circle. The rooms are large enough. There is a sauna and a hot tub available for 24hours. It is great area for northern lights!
If there is anything to improve, it would be the quality of cleaning. But it is definitely not something that would deter me from visiting again. We would be very happy to visit here again. The price-quality ratio is probably the best we could get in Iceland.

We arrived at Hotel Kvika after 5 days on the road. Its location is very strategic: close to Road 1 but at the same time far enough to be immersed in silence. Upon our arrival, the owner was incredibly kind and attentive to all our needs, providing us with information about the area and suggestions for local places and necessities, making our stay extremely comfortable. We stayed at the hotel in December, with only a few other visitors, and were able to enjoy the stunning surrounding landscape in total peace, both through the windows of the main lounge and from the panoramic room near the entrance, which offers an almost 360-degree view of the scenery and the night sky—all from the comfort of a heated space with cozy seating. The real highlight was the sauna and the hot tubs with 40°C water in the backyard, where we soaked until late at night in complete silence, surrounded by snow and under the starry sky. The continental breakfast was classic, well-stocked, and plentiful. The room was huge, with a beautiful bathroom and a spacious shower, extremely clean and comfortable. One of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip, where we were welcomed most warmly, all at an extremely affordable price. When we return to Iceland, we will definitely make another stop at Hotel Kvika!

Loved this hotel! Free breakfast was fantastic with pancakes, waffles, toast, eggs, bacon, meats, cheeses, cereal. Multiple areas outside of the room to relax or just have a change of scenery, complete with games. There is a glass room that is nice to look for northern lights while staying warm, or just enjoying a rainy day. Room was spacious and clean. I didn't go in the hot tub but the sauna was perfect! Also easy access to the outdoors for checking on northern lights. Staff was all super nice!! Later in my trip, wished I could've swapped another hotel to come back. It's a few minute drive from the main town so it feels remote, but accessible when needed.

We stayed only for a few hours before leaving for our flight at 2am at KEF. But the short stay was indeed wonderful. The room was huge and ample space for us to take a few winks and rearrange our bags for our flight. When we mentioned this to the gentleman at the reception; he was so helpful in leaving us a big bag of food for our flight. Unfortunately we could not take the large offering of fruit, we did grab the cookies! There was juice and coffee in the lobby/eating area. The place has a hot tub which unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy. Given the price we paid for this stay, the amenities were far more and were wonderful.
None to report! We should have known about this place better - would have surely booked it for our Golden Circle tour.

The location was very central to the Golden Circle and South Coast without needing to drive all the way back to Reykjavik. However, it's not walkable to anything so a car is a must to get to dinner, etc. Breakfast was fairly standard for Scandinavia but good. Room was comfortable, bathroom was functional, curtains were good for summer sun.
We were so busy that we didn't get a chance to enjoy the hot tub and sauna while we were there. Maybe next time. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear adjacent room doors opening and closing.

Excellent quiet location, comfortable beds, clean room, great breakfast and other hotel facilities (they do have an outdoor tub, but we didn't try it, maybe next time). Also we loved the little orangery where you can sit and have a snack and glance outside at the gorgeous Icelandic scenery. Should also be great for seeing the aurora. The hotel staff is great and provide you with excellent tips for your travels (we got a great tip on where to purchase real quality wool garments, thanks again!)

Staff very polite and informative; the rooms are all on the ground floor; the spa area outside was lush and we always had it to ourselves. The 24/7 use of coffee/tea/juice/water machine in the lobby is great. Plus a lovely conservatory you can take your drinks to. There was always cookies and cakes left out for people to help themselves. I loved the reception area, there was 3-4 separate 'rooms' with TVs, sofas, blankets, cushions etc so you felt like home most of the time. The hotel is less than an hour away from Reykjavik; less than an hour from the start of the Golden circle and loads of horses around it to enjoy!
I wouldn't say that the rooms are very soundproof because we could hear people coming and going especially locking/unlocking their door made quite a noise. That was only an issue on our first night though. I think we had noisy neighbors. The rest of our stay people were much more respectful of others around them.

The Hotel Kvika is 'a real find'. So many lovely touches -- for example complimentary coffee, cakes and biscuits at any time -- including a regular 'top up' of cakes: when 'the Brits' have 'pillaged' the last one! The accommodation was first rate and included use of a hot tube and sauna. BUT the secret ingredient is the staff. Without exception all wonderful. Clearly helping each other and creating an obvious positive team -- it was clear that they all really wanted their visitors to have an enjoyable and memorable stay. Their positive team approached filters through to the whole operation of the Hotel
Absolutely nothing. This really is a good hotel
