The location was so lovely and peaceful, and very convenient off the Ring Road. We had two rooms - the one upstairs had a balcony and the most gorgeous sweeping views of the countryside. (our other room was on the lower level and had a totally different feel/vibe, was "ok") There is a restaurant on site which served dinner from 6-8:30pm - there is a set menu of one entree, one soup/salad and one dessert. All of the food at Storu-Laugar was delicious, just know that you eat what they are serving that night. The included breakfast was very substantial. Back up on the main road there was one restaurant in Laugar with an attached grocery store, but you really have to time this stop correctly with food since everything closes early and it's very remote. The property had a stone hot tub that was super cool, fed from a bubbling hot spring that you could see steaming down the hillside, and a nice outdoor patio area.

It's horse country, so there's quite a bit of flies. (but the beauty is worth it) I didn't receive any welcome information from the host (as we did with other guest houses) and no one responded when I emailed from the road to ask about check-in procedure. However, when we showed up there was a clear "reception" area, and the staff were kind (limited English) and our rooms were ready. Had this been a stop where we arrived late at night, I would have been nervous since I didn't have that communication with the owner/property manager to know how to check in.

Very clean, comfortable beds, and excellent breakfast! The family room was perfect for traveling with our young adult kids. Everyone slept well and the pastoral setting is beautiful. We didn't have time to use the hot tub but visitors at breakfast were commenting on it the next morning. This was one of the best breakfasts we had during our trip around the Ring Road and perfect location for exploring some incredible sites. We would definitely return!

The bathroom could use a bit of an update but it was clean and there were plenty of towels.

We stayed in the big house rather than the guest house addition. The room was quite adequate in size with a table and two chairs as well as a desk with a chair. The bathroom was adequate in size. I guess the hand soap on the sink needed to work as shower gel and shampoo as well. It seemed to do OK. It was nice to have a hot tub so close to our room. However, we did not really want to go out in the rain and cold to use it. The N1 station in Laugar has an excellent restaurant. An Icelandic couple said they had just driven 150 km to just have their plokkfiskur. We ate there three times, had the excellent plokkfiskur once. The hallway outside of our room had a microwave, fridge, and various eating utensils. The breakfast was the best we have had in our nine day trip to Iceland.

The shower bottom was quite slippery. I had to use a hand towel to help my wife with her footing in the shower. She almost fell. Also, it would have been nice to have had a rainfall shower. Every other guest house or hotel we have stayed at has had one. However, the wonderful breakfast more than makes up for that very small inconvenience. Not the guest house's fault, but no one seemed to want to chat at breakfast. My wife loves to talk with just about anyone. On our trip to Alaska last month, everyone, including the Europeans, seemed to want to stay at breakfast just to chat and exchange information about the area. We were in Laugar Iceland three days so we saw a variety of folks.

We loved our stay at the Guest House. The family was warm and welcoming, and had a fabulous breakfast to help start our day. It was enjoyable to watch the family work together during check in, breakfast, and overall accommodations. There was a snowstorm that came through the region when we were there, so we didn't leave our guesthouse. Power went out for a short while, and the owners were able to take care of it promptly. We appreciated the hospitality.

No complaints at all

This was the only place we stayed 2 nights at during our 10-day road trip around Iceland and it was very nice. Quite roomy, like an apartment. Breakfast was excellent and the outdoor hot tub was fun. We needed a break after a horribly icy day on the Ring Road in the Highlands where we didn't have the proper tires to tackle the road, but somehow made it with the help of a local who had a shovel so we could dig out of a snowdrift during this mid-October winter event.

Only thing that could have been better is if the dining was open in mid October (it was for breakfast only). Also, would have been nice if there were a little less outdoor lighting as it was otherwise a great place to see the northern lights (unfortunately it wasn't the best time solar cycle wise, as it turned out, and there were lots of clouds).

We had a really large bedroom, with a small kitchen and dining table. The bathroom was also a good size. Breakfast was good, and items were constantly being replenished. The location was good for various trips around the Lake Myvatn area. There was a nice restaurant nearby, plus a supermarket and petrol .

It would have been nice to have had a way of getting to the breakfast area without getting wet.

This is a wonderful guesthouse with friendly hosts and wonderful staff. We were very lucky to find this warm place during our trip to Iceland. And I booked on the day of check-in. They have thought of everything. They added a bed for the child. You can brew and drink delicious tea in the hall. There is also a hot spring and there are robes for it in the rooms. Secluded, quiet, wonderful breakfasts. We would like to come back again.

Cozy room with everything one might need. The owner encouraged us to use the natural hot spring next door which was simply AMAZING. We sat there for and hour under the stars sipping amaretto and watching the snow covered hills. Truly magical.

Don't know if anything can be done about this, but our room (3) had a teeny tiny dampness smell and in the morning, we saw some vapour on the inside of the window. It didn't bother us at all, but maybe it's something to look into before it's too late?
