Beautiful and serene property designed in the traditional style of Tamil architecture. The gardens are amazing and the peacocks add a colorful but noisy additional touch! The staff are very warm and friendly and quick to respond to requests. The food is also quite delicious - fresh organic fruit and veggies. They make the food only after you order so it takes a while but is worth the wait. We couldn’t try the Ayurvedic treatments as our schedule was very tight but as we plan to come back that’s ok. The quaint tea kadai was a lovely experience . We’d say this is a must stay place if you come to Kumbakonam!

Our recent stay at Mantra Koodam was memorable and serene. The resort is truly wonderful — beautifully maintained, peaceful, and an ideal retreat. The facilities are excellent, and the commitment to a plastic-free environment is commendable. We also appreciated the thoughtful in-room touches such as herbal body wash and shampoo, which reflect the eco-friendly philosophy of the property.

There are some areas where we feel improvements could make the experience even better: 1. Customer Service Responsiveness: While some staff members were outstanding — in particular, Naturist Karthik and Guru from the restaurant — the overall responsiveness could be improved. Requests such as drinking water or buggy service often took a long time to be addressed. Some staff could benefit from further training in hospitality industry etiquette and proactive guest service. 2. Breakfast Service Timeliness: Breakfast is advertised to start at 7:30 am, but on multiple days certain items were not ready until close to 8:00 am. As many guests stay here for temple visits and need to leave early in the morning, timely availability of breakfast would be greatly appreciated.

Every element of the stay was beyond expectations - the soothing impact pervades every part of the property. The staff are extremely friendly and warm with a positive vibe at all times. A two day stay was the right duration as well to experience all aspects - the tea kadai with the ever smiling lady making tea and tasty snacks, feeding fishes, the spiritual ambience at the two main temples within the campus and the smiling staff at the restaurant. Special call out to Ranjith and Selvakavi at the restaurant. Thank you very very much. Last but not the least - unbelievable company of peacocks :). Thank you once again. We will be back.

Waiting time at the restaurant post order could be better!

Luxuriously appointed accommodation in beautifully landscaped grounds. Lots of staff around and a great breakfast.

It’s not advisable to book a room rate which includes dinner in the package. Instead of the a la carte menu you are presented with a set meal of bits and pieces with absolutely no choice for not much less cost. The service at dinner was also chaotic - a very disappointing experience. There are lots of liquids and potions scattered around the room for which outrageous health claims are made with no scientific basis.

Mantra Koodam is a lovely place. We loved the staff, the facilities and the surroundings. We went on nature walks with Karthick in the morning and in the evening and we saw all sorts of beautiful birds and daily life in the small village next to the hotel. Karthick was a special guide and he shared with us not only his expertise with birds and natural resources, but also his insights about Indian culture. The reception people are super friendly as are as the waiters and waitresses. There is a beautiful pond and you can feed the fish, which was a really nice experience. You can also light the wish candles in the evening, which was a special and meaningful ritual for us…we did it each night we stayed.

Food was excellent and the fresh orange juice was very refreshing. Well maintained gardens with peacocks, chirping birds and butterflies. Lots of activities. Friendly and helpful staff. We tried the ayurvedic massage which was very good, but the therapy room needs to be better equipped and cleaner.

The therapist and the massage were excellent but the therapy rooms could do with some upgrading, eg., there were no dustbins in the bathroom or changing room, the floor was quite oily, the bath mats needed to be changed. The therapy rooms had no air conditioning which is needed in a hot and humid place.

The property is away from the hustle and bustle of the city which has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are the peacefulness and natural surroundings. The disadvantage is that it costs a little to tour the temples which are mostly located in the city area. We hired a taxi for a few hours to do a tour which cost R2,000. The restaurant is very good so it is not necessary to go looking elsewhere for meals. Staff are great. Activities include pottery and a bird watching walk. The swimming pool is excellent. The eco philosophy of the place also is highly commendable.

Breakfast was typical idli, Dosa, Pongal, Podi Idlis, Sweet pongal, Avial pongal, Bread butter, cheese, almond yogurt, masala omlette, etc. Overall, I and my wife were happy with the entire experience. But it was too more for continuous three days affair. We never had lunch and dinner so do not have much idea about it because we use to leave early for visiting temples or shopping. Best thing was there was no TV. I missed adding - There are peacocks in this property. It was very nice see them around all the time throughout the day.

Same dishes for three days for breakfast was not expected.

The nature ambience around the property was amazing. Although it’s a village concept, but the stay was outstanding & extraordinary. Tea kadai & Annaprasana restaurant gives you the Kumbakonam native feelings. Drivayam (lunch vege banana leaf) was extraordinary. The entire staff of Mantrakoodam was very nice, helpful and friendly. Recommended for a nice family trip… 👍

Facilities and rooms were great. Open shower was the highlight. Tea kadai was a very good / unique experience. The souvenir shop was decently priced unlike other hotels / resorts where it would be very expensive. I indulged in shopping as well

Peacocks were beautiful, but they did not let us sleep peacefully either with their constant squawking. Monkey menace near the pool and outside our rooms also was a bit scary. Our neighbours had left room service food / plates outside, and the monkeys made a mess of them. Pest control like lizards, frogs can be inside the rooms.
