Best accommodation I've had on my 3-week trip to Bali/Nusa Penida. Location: I found this hotel as I wanted to stay in the Toya Pakeh area. The hotel is close to the harbour and many restaurants and shops, which is very convenient. You should drive a car to get around the island. The hotel is a great base to leave from and they can connect you with a private driver. Hotel: I was stunned by its beauty - wow! The pool is very impressive. You can basically step out of your bungalow and get a fresh dip in it. The room is beautiful. The bed is comfy. The AC is good. The bathroom is part indoor/outdoor and has an outdoor shower, which was amazing. The hotel's restaurant was great, the food was good and they can deliver it to your room so you can eat it in peace on your porch. Service: I have stayed in many nice places during my trip but the service at MG has been the best! The whole staff was great, but I want to give a special shout out to Komang (Basir), who was super helpful during my stay. He really went above and beyond to support me to make my stay perfect. I can see he works very hard every day & takes on many different responsibilities. Activities: I came as a solo traveller who can't drive a motor, so I'm so happy the hotel connected me to a driver & guide who took me out on full day trips for an affordable price (much cheaper than what you find online). My guide was totally perfect, and even took photos of me everywhere. I was able to explore many of the island's main attractions in a few days. I extended my stay with two extra nights because I really liked it here & in Nusa Penida. I stayed here in mid-December, and despite the rainy season, it was completely dry, sunny and warm here. Maybe I was lucky! Nusa Penida has the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure, and MG Villa is a great base to explore the island.

Excellent place if you plan to visit Nusa Penida. We stayed for 6 nights and everything was perfect. The hotel team was very nice and helpful. The room was great, front of the pool. Pool available anytime you want to refresh. Every morning, excellent breakfast, with choices that will fit anyone (coffee, tea, fresh fruits juices, banana pancake, american breakfast, etc ...) every morning, hotel proposes us transfert to the diving clubs; and when we arrived on the island, transfert to the hotel free of charge. very close to shops, restaurants, diving club, harbor ... Bottom line, great time in MG Villa. Go and enjoy !

Our stay at MG Villa was a very good experience. The hotel is spacious, with a large central pool that’s perfect for relaxing. The location is convenient, offering easy access to many points on the island. There are also several places to rent motorcycles right next to the hotel, making it simple to get around. The hotel has a restaurant where we had lunch one day. The food was okay, but we highly recommend trying the restaurant next door, Joglo, where we had dinner twice and really enjoyed the meals. There’s also a dive school nearby that took us on a manta ray viewing trip, which was amazing. Additionally, we booked a tour of the island’s main tourist spots directly through the hotel. The driver recommended by the hotel provided a great experience.

One area for improvement is communication. English is not widely spoken on the island, which made communication challenging at times, including with some of the hotel staff. However, overall, we had a great stay and would recommend MG Villa to others.

Swimmingpool

poor sound insulation and lots of lizards that scurry at night. the proximity of the mosque and the priest who prays for two hours on a loud speaker as well as early in the morning. bad for sleeping.

This is a hidden gem right off the main road. You literally walk in from the noise and cars into an oasis. Beautiful grounds. Great pool, and nice little Villas to stay in. The front staff is very good and welcoming. Massage therapists some of the best I've ever had. Truly wonderful.

Wait staff and cook not great. One wait staff was excellent, the other one we had not so much, and our food wasn't cooked right. Fries limp, pizza crust not cooked, and sauces that were on the menu we had to ask for and finally got after our food was done. Stopped eating at this restaurant because of this, even though we had free breakfast. The only other thing to mention is that these huts do not block much sound at all, but the grounds are quiet for the most part, no sounds from road, just other guests.

Great base to explore Nusa Penida. Only a 20-30min walk which we enjoyed as we got to take in some of the sights and shops along the way. The reception area is clean and tidy and the staff was helpful with checking in very easy. The garden and pool area is beautiful with lovely flowering trees everywhere and mango trees overhead. Our room was huge and it had a wide full length mirror which was super helpful. The interior reminds me of a seaside bach or cabin and we liked it. The bathroom is outside and it was not very clean but hey, you're on an island that isnt very developed, you cant expect everything. For us, the cleanliness of the bathroom wasn't a problem, we still used the shower and toilet without issue. Our bed was made each day and the aircon was good. I accidentally left the aircon off and our room was so hot, it took awhile for the aircon to kick back on but again that is not an issue to us. The pool is huge and we spent a lot of time in it. There is a swim up bar however it is not stocked or manned so buy your own beers at the restaurant and take them to the pool with you. We only had 1 breakfast at the restaurant because we had early morning activities booked but there were a range of options on the menu including a few Indian dishes. I do have to recommend the Joglo Penida just down the road for amazing pastries and large breakfast options and coffee. It is not a super large accommodation so it never feels crowded with guests, everyone gets their own space and we really enjoyed ourselves. Also, yes there are roosters making noises int he morning and a few dogs barking but come on guys, remember where you are, you're on a stunning island that has animals, don't let it ruin your day. Now and then you can hear noise coming from a temple or something nearby, again it is not worth complaining about when you go to Nusa Penida. I wish the staff of the MG Villas and Spa all the best for the future.

Our bathroom was messy and did have a lot of old hair in the shower stones and stains on the wall, it could probably do with a good clean but it didn't stop us from enjoying our time there. There is a lot of potential with this place :) Apologies for the pictures, they are blurry screenshots from a video.

Hotel has a great location. Very close to the port where you enter and leave the island (no more than 15 minutes on foot). Beautiful, clean swimming pool. Very comfortable Balinese-style bathroom despite a few problems. Very friendly staff. On the main street with restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel.

Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The cleanliness of the bathroom was average, and half the lights in the bathroom were burnt out. The bed linen was very dirty, with stains that appeared to be blood. We asked for it to be changed and it was promptly replaced. We found the room a little dark even with all the lights on. In our opinion, the worst thing was the restaurant/breakfast. Breakfast has very few options available and is very limited, and you can only choose one type of drink (hot or cold). The restaurant has slightly higher prices for lunch and dinner than the restaurants next door.

Really nice bungalows with all amenities, comfy bed and great pool area. Location was very good - within walking distance to everything I needed including a dive centre (skuba junkie is next door) restaurants and the harbour is close by, all of which were super important to me as I don’t ride scooters. The staff were really lovely and helped me with a transfer to the harbour and fast boat to Sanur. There’s a restaurant adjoined to the property which is okay. Recommend dining further down about 10 mins walk for a great variety of restaurant options. I also had a massage on my last day and she was outstanding!

The mosque is quite near and can be heard but not overbearing. A shower for the pool area and for guests once they’ve checked out and still want to use the facilities would be a nice bonus.

The MG Villa & SPA is well located within walking distance of shops, ATMs, restaurants, laundries and the beach. The well tended gardens and pool were always welcome after the hustle and bustle of the main road outside. A good sized balcony to sit and enjoy a drink overlooking the gardens and pool. All the staff were friendly and two in particular, Monica and Yudi, went above and beyond with their caring level of service. The toilet with the shower being open to the sky was great – no need for a noisy extractor fan.

At minimal cost, the addition of a small desk lamp would be very helpful to anyone wanting to use their laptop or write a shopping list. I had to use my headlamp to see the keyboard! I can't comment on the "SPA" as we didn't want to make use of it but I saw no sign of it being used over the six nights of our stay.
