We love this part of Ubud. It’s located in a quiet village just south of the Sacred Monkey Forest with several of the best restaurants and cafes in walking distance. The staff are exceptional and greet you by name every time you leave and return, and are happy to assist you with any requests right away. The rooms are integrated with nature in their indoor/outdoor design and the property itself is infused with traditional Balinese magic. Seeing fireflies during our evening swim and while enjoying the outdoor shower was a highlight of this stay.

This was our second stay here in the last three years and we would’ve appreciated if the hotel had updated their linens (new sheets, pillows, and new towels).

It’s a bit outdated in the rooms - but spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Excellent staff and service. The gardens and outdoor shower overlooking the rice fields make for a very serene environment. You can order breakfast each morning to enjoy on your private patio, and the free shuttle service to town is great! You can also request free pickup, but we just used Grab for return trips (only around 60K). Monkey Forest is within walking distance.

We organized airport pickup through the hotel and it was a horrible experience. Our assigned driver Pak Bebas went to the wrong terminal (fine, mistakes happen, but it was how he handled the aftermath that was unacceptable). Instead of coming to get us at the correct terminal, he led us on a ridiculous rabbit chase-telling to meet him at a circle K, then at the arrival pick up zone, then back at arrival hall- all while screaming at us over the phone instead of listening. We dragged our luggage all over the airport while being yelled at by this man for over an hour.

I returned to Alam Jiwa after many years away and I am so glad I did. The location is so convenient. The area is so peaceful but just a short walk alongside the Monkey Forest and you are in the hustle and bustle of Ubud. There is also a shuttle available if you don't want to walk. The rooms are well appointed and are kept spotless. The beds are comfortable, as are the many chairs and day beds on offer in the room and on the balcony. The bathrooms are a highlight. Very large and beautiful. Even the provided toiletries are of a high quality. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to help make your stay a great experience. The pool is well maintained and there is plenty of room to relax poolside for a lazy day. There are many wonderful restaurants very close to Alam Jiwa. No need to go to Ubud unless you really want to. I will be back to Alam Jiwa as soon as possible.

The little bar fridges could do with an upgrade sometime soon. It seems that the slightly larger models keep the cold in a lot better, and probably save on power as well. Not a dealbreaker, just a suggestion.

What a great hotel. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom was spacious, the bed was large and very comfortable. The airconditioning was great and rooms were clean. Rooms have a veranda or balcony Everything was very beautiful, the woodwork, the stone carvings on the property, the flowers, plants and trees. The swimming pool is a great place to relax and cool down after a day of activities. The hotel is very quiet, but it is only a couple of minutes walk to some very good restaurants. Central Ubud is perhaps a nice 30 minute walk from the hotel, but there is a shuttle available if you don't want to walk. The staff is really super friendly. Because this is a small hotel it has a personal feel (not anonymous like some larger hotels). This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and I am looking forward to come back some day.

Alam Jiwa is beautiful. The location was perfect, close to the monkey forest but far enough away to not have too many on your doorstep. The breakfast was amazing - you could either have this by the pool, in the reception/dining area or in your room. The staff were wonderful. There was a free car to the centre which was brilliant. The views and surroundings were gorgeous. We loved our stay!

As the rooms are surrounded by nature, you do get some bugs and animals inside. Half of our family didn’t like this but half didn’t mind it!

Everything about this hotel was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were four people with three spacious, spotless rooms. As a group we especially loved the size of the balcony which offered a table big enough to host a feast and a sofa to relax. The location is also amazing. It's slightly outside of the busy city center but still close enough to reach it within 10-15 minutes bike ride. Trust us, you want to be here - you have the nature views but you're still super close to everything. An added bonus was the hotel’s shuttle service - they bring you to places and also pick you up in the Ubud area. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend it!

The beautiful setting along a river, overlooking rice fields. Large rooms and spacious bathrooms with outdoor shower. Traditional Balinese decor all round and impeccable gardens, lotus ponds etc. Excellent complentary shuttle car service into Ubud. It was great that our group could order in dinner on the evg of our arrival - convenient and delicious! Breakfast options are varied and all of high quality. Some rooms have large outdoor terraces - great for lounging. Lovely helpful staff. This was our 4th stay here - and I hope to return again.

Everything was great.

This place absolutely blew us away. It was like staying in a medieval castle in the middle of a botanical garden. Stunningly beautiful, quiet and peaceful, with the most amazing hospitable staff. They have a free shuttle to and from Ubud and are happy to arrange anything else you need. There are so few rooms that it feels like you are the only ones in residence most of the time. Breakfast and any order in food is very good quality and can be enjoyed on the terrace or in your room.

Parts of the property are looking worn/shabby (eg outdoor blinds, roofs, linen). Our first stay it was very peaceful and relaxing. This stay (our second) had large families with loud children who took over the pool area (sometimes unsupervised) and parts of the property.
