This is a hidden gem within an authentic Balinese family compound. There are several family members living there and they have built additional rooms/bungalows for renting. My unit was a beautiful new suite with big bathroom, great shower. The sliding glass doors went to a small private patio area. There are many steps up to the restaurant and the family homes and their private temple. A few steps down the steep property takes you to a shopping street (no cars). Do the self guided rice terrace walk !!! Just go down all the steps and straight ahead. It’s a pleasant flat walk thru the field and exits on the Main Street. Only 10 minute walk to the Palace and 30 min walk to Monkey Forest.

Pros: Perfect location, away from the hustle and bustle of Jalan Raya but a 10-15 minute walk if you need a good restaurant or need to shop. Also close to Kejung Rice Fields which I enjoyed for my morning walks. The homestay is comfortable and the pool is small but deep, could be better maintained but daughter enjoyed using it. We spent 5 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was basic but cleaned every single day. The breakfast was delicious, good fruit selection. The staff are amazing - my daughter left her kindle there and the owner posted it home the next day and it arrived within days. So grateful and one of my favourite stays in Indonesia - thanks so much! Check out Hideout cafe at the bottoms of the stairs, great coffee and food.

The budget double room was good value (£16.50 per night in May 2025) but it would have been better if they had more storage options and a desk, chair and kettle for teas and coffees which I’ve had at other places for this price point. But really nice facilities - I enjoyed working from the restaurant in the mornings and loved the serenity of this place.

Super Bellissimo . very quiet, close to everything on foot, two entrances, one at the back immediately in the old market and close to a top spa. super good breakfast, the owners and their family are number one in Ubud, they give you advice on everything, super kind. They rent you scooters at a super price and wash your clothes in one day at a great price. I'm really happy BELLISSIMO

The accomodation is at the back of the property and only a short distance from the rice fields walkway. The room (Suite) was large, light, very clean and new looking. The room was serviced each day. I enjoyed the breakfast of eggs, toast, fruit and coffee. The rice field walk pathway is an easier way to walk into the Main Street of Ubud during the day as even wide walkway, at night it’s not well lit.

Water was not included, you could buy chilled water onsite. No soap by the handbasin in the bathroom, meant having to get soap from the dispenser in the shower- would be much nicer having soap by the basin.

Good location, quiet, friendly staff, squeaky clean.

The room was very hot and the Aircon didn't seem to be working well. The sockets in the room were loose out of the wall. They were working but it seems a bit of a risk using them.

Could do with a few minor additions to make stay more comfortable such as providing soap or handwash, hand towels to dry hands, bath mats so floor isn't wet after showers. Also please be aware, there was a building close by that played VERY loud music (think bashing pots and pans together over a PA systym) until 11pm on the Tuesday night we were there. After 15hrs travelling we just wanted to sleep quite early but even with earplugs, could not drown out the music and were not able to sleep until it stopped.

The family we’re so helpful and friendly. We felt like it was a home from home. The location is great, close enough to all that Ubud but far enough to escape the hustle and bustle. It’s very close to the rice walk which we loved! We stayed as a family and had 2 rooms very close to each other. It was really safe for the kids and they loved plunging in the pool after a busy day. The breakfast was lovely and they made a special effort to feed the kids something their liked. We loved the green banana pancakes!

I loved this Homestay. It was like a hidden oasis in the midst of the chaos of Ubud. I stayed 2 weeks and still didn't want to leave. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough. I had the original Bungalow and whilst that wouldn't be for everyone. I loved it. And the banana pancakes for breakfast were so good! I only had lunch oh the last day, but it was simple and tasty. If I make it back to Ubud. I'll definitely stay again. I miss it already.

Nice location, really quite and a lot of trees feels like already in the jungle. Through Kajeng street only 5-10 minutes walk to the city centre in a beautiful small road with stores and restaurants. In the other direction it is only 5 minutes for a walk to beautiful rice fields. Rooms are like the pictures on booking. We extended the stay and they immediately prepared another free room for us. It is a family run homestay who take good care, cleaning the room everyday and making a nice breakfast. Overall we enjoyed the calm stay and can say that it is a very good price value ratio at Pondok Bambu Homestay.

I LOVED this homestay. So much I went back for my last night in Bali. The family and staff are so nice. The homestay is a little oasis, just a short walk from the centre of Ubud. Best Banana Pancakes in Bali. Lovely pool, which is rarely busy. I had a traditional Balinese Bungalow for my first stay, which was cute and authentic. Then their suite for this last stay. And wow. A 5-star worthy suite in a traditional homestay. The best of both worlds. I will most definitely stay here when I go back to Bali.
