I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Samara Villas- a boutique hotel nested in the serene rice fields of Ubud. This tranquil oasis provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with a small but inviting pool that offers a refreshing dip after a day of exploring. The breakfast served each morning was exceptional, with a variety of delicious options to start the day right. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and eager to assist with any needs. My room was cozy and impeccably clean, and I particularly loved the outdoor shower – such a refreshing experience! One of the best aspects of this hotel is its location. It’s within walking distance to Ubud Market Street, restaurants, cafes, and bars. For those who prefer not to walk, the hotel also offers a convenient ride service. Overall, my stay was nothing short of wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in Ubud.

Peaceful location in the middle of the rice fields. We had amazing service by the friendly staff. We had included breakfast in the booking and ordered some Balinese food at the restaurant for dinner, I highly recommend this as the food in the restaurant we had tried were all so delicious. I also liked that the bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and there’s a jacuzzi in the bathroom. Another plus is having a Balinese massage in the villa.

It was hard with only scooter transport as I didn’t get local service to call and get picked up, although shuttle is provided at any time free of cost which is good. The set up of the 2-bedroom villa was a downside. Upstairs room is not connected to downstairs. It can be hard especially when you have to go out in the rain to go up and down and if you have a family with elderly, and there was only dining set up in the living downstairs with no couch to rest.

Loved my stay at The Samara Villas! The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush rice fields, it’s so quiet and peaceful. 10 min walk to Ubud town along the rice fields. You can request the staff to take you on a scooter or pick you up from town, if you prefer not to walk. All the staff were wonderful, so helpful and welcoming. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable. I loved the outdoor shower! Breakfast was delicious. Pool was lovely. Look forward to staying at Samara Villas again.

The location and hotel are absolutely dreamy, but what truly stood out was the incredible staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and eager to make our stay perfect. We used the shuttle to Main Street twice a day, including a 2:30 a.m. ride for our Mount Batur tour, and each time, the staff greeted us with kindness and a smile. Rusma from reservations was especially wonderful—she helped us with a late checkout and was flexible and attentive, always making sure we were well taken care of, and her warm smile made everything even better. I even received a canang sari to place outside my room, which added to the special experience. I only wish we had more time. If we ever return to Ubud, we’ll definitely stay here again. The restaurant is fantastic too—the eggplant dish was one of my favorites from the entire trip to Bali!

I love everything about it

Though the property is a little on the older side, everything was clean. Beautiful view and absolutely beautiful staff. Loved that not too many people could stay, and the food/restaurant was of a very high standard. Loved ‘Mighty’ too

When I made the booking, I don’t remember seeing that you need to be picked up on their scooters from car park. Issue being my husband has hip issues and it was really difficult/painful for him.

Everything! Comfortable room, great breakfast and amazing staff! I couldn’t find a bad thing. They also managed to keep ants away even if the shower was open sky.

There is nothing. Just a suggestion, if you are scared of geckos maybe it is not the right place for you, at night there are a lot of them 😊

For those wanting to explore the city, it was an easy walk to downtown Ubud, but for the less energetic, a convenient moto shuttle was available. The generous-sized pool was a perfect addition to the serene setting, offering a relaxing spot to unwind. Overall, this hotel is a gem for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to the vibrant heart of Ubud.

Nothing to complain about, just loved it

The place is in the middle of the rice fields with an amazing view. The place is so tranquil and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rusma at the reception was the best she was amazing i really think she is a bonus to the place. she was reachable on WhatsApp all the time. The resort offers a motorbike shuttle as it's not reachable by car. we stayed in the 2-room villa with a private pool. Lastly, the breakfast was excellent.

With an outlook over the ever-diminishing rice fields, it was a wonderful peaceful place amongst the bustle of Ubud. The free afternoon tea was an awesome touch, as were the scooter rides right into the heart of Ubud whenever we needed. The outdoor/indoor lobby area was a great place to work, play board games. The refills of water, rather than plastic bottles, was a huge plus for us.

We were there during some construction, so it was hard to find a peaceful spot to work or relax. The outdoor bathrooms could be refined with some hooks for towels and shelves for clothes.

Cozy location in the middle of a rice field. Truly felt like the most relaxing environment. All the staff were so kind and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Italian restaurant on site was great. All the food was very tasty but our favorite was eggplant parmigiana. Staff provided complimentary scooter rides to town and it was a huge part of the fun, especially for our youngest age 5.
