Firstly, the convenience of renting a motorcycle directly from the hotel and having it delivered right to my doorstep was a game-changer. It made exploring the surrounding areas incredibly easy and gave me the freedom to venture out at my own pace. The hotel's location, right next to Monkey Forest, was a major highlight. I could see monkeys from various parts of the hotel, which was such a delightful surprise. I even overheard my neighbors about monkeys tried stealing their belongings!! Everything about the hotel was outstanding, making it a standout experience during my time in Ubud. Additionally, I must mention the unique and captivating design of the semi-open-air bathrooms. They provided a remarkable sense of connection with nature and added an extra touch of comfort and relaxation. Overall, I was truly impressed with this hotel. It provided comfortable accommodations and left a lasting impression with its standout features like the monkeys and the semi-open-air bathrooms. The villa was small and private. The location is central . The staff is polite and nice

The bikes traffic and sometimes the monkeys jump in your garden

I loved the nets around the bed for mosquito protection when you sleep! They cleaned everyday and were super accommodating. A lot of places are pretty walkable and less than 5 minutes of the monkey forest was on your list.

Keep in mind the outside bathrooms have friends that visit! However, if you come to Bali for nature it’s part of the package.

Very comfortable stay, private, specious, with our own pool, just great! The bathroom was so beautiful, Also close to walk to all places we were interested in. The staff are great and helpful. The location is quiet. We loved it! On top, when my partner had his birthday, they decorated the bed with flowers, which was a great touch :-)

The pillows had a damp smell, so I think they needed to be replaced. That’s really the main thing I would change. Also the deco of the bedroom itself is not quite as the photos. All fabrics are grey with no art on the walls. Usually in Bali it’s more colourful. But it wasn’t a problem.

Private, the service from all staff was amazing, & the location was in walking distance for night life & adventures. Especially being right by Monkey Forrest was nice to see them come over & just mind there business in our private villa & beside the pool.

This is my second time at Umaya. The value for money is so good! It’s such a cute little property hidden away behind the monkey forest, you can walk or ride a bike into central ubud really quickly through the forest. The bed is the most comfortable I’ve tried in Bali - nice and soft (very important for me). It’s super clean, and the outdoor bathroom is so nice. They do really affordable room service as well which is great. The wifi works great even for zoom calls. And the staff is so nice. The pool nice and peaceful. I highly recommend Umaya!

It sometimes felt a bit scary walking back alone at night as a solo female traveler, but it’s super safe so it really was just in my head.

Beautiful and cosy villas in a quieter part of Ubud. We had one private pool villa and two (of the 4) rooms around the shared pool. Air conditioning is great and the rooms look like they do in the photos. Very clean. Having read several reviews I would agree that this is a place for nature lovers, you will be sharing your bathroom with geckos and frogs and the monkeys regularly come across the roof on their way to and from the forest. If you want a sterile tiled hotel bathroom this is not the place for you, but for us it was a wonderful experience to feel like we were really in the jungle. At no point were the monkeys and issue to using the pools. The little track through the monkey forest to the main part of Ubud is busy with scooters but it takes less than 5 minutes to get through and the scooters are all very considerate of pedestrians, at no point did we feel unsafe. There are some lovely places to eat just round the corner from Umaya, Alam pizzas were great and Lake Leke was a little oasis of peace away from the hustle and bustle. Great WiFi coverage should you need it. Breakfast at Umaya was plentiful (we had the pancakes) and good value for money and the staff are warm and welcoming and super helpful. I would definitely book here to stay in Ubud again.

Very charming small villa with unique atmosphere. The conception of the villas are nice, enough place for 4 person. The optional breakfast is served to the villa which is nice, staff is really helpful, laundry, cleaning, scooter - everything is handled by them upon request. Location is good, calm, quite close to center, right next to the monkey forest- which is both an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time. Monkeys are often there, which is fun for the kids but you have to be cautious, if you leave doors open you'll be stolen:) In the early morning monkeys often do some activities on the roof which leads to early wakeups if you are not a deep sleeper.

The small road which leads to the center from the villa is very narrow and busy by the scooters - you have to be aware of that. Monkey and pros and cons as mentioned. Some refurbishment probably should be done but nothing serious.

First of all the staff are SO friendly, and welcoming which is really nice. The room was beautiful especially the bathroom it was themed like outdoors but has cover and privacy which is really nice. Room has everything you need including mini fridge, kettle and tea/coffee and water. They helped us do laundry and was really good price and good service. Pool was really clean always which is nice. The location is perfect it is walking distance to everything. The staff can help you with anything you need.

We loved our stay, but keep in mind the private pool villas are not for everyone. It is not entirely private, with lots of gaps in the fences including the outdoor bathroom area. Keep in mind you are right next to the monkey forest so you may get monkey visitors, lots of lizards, frogs and ants in your room. The room was mostly clean though it gets dirty very fast. The staff were so lovely and breakfast was good. I love the area, it is close to nice cafes/ restaurants and there is a shortcut path that only takes 10 minutes to get to the sanctuary entry and many more restaurants etc. If you love wildlife and want to feel like you're living in the jungle this is the place for you.

So many gaps for lizards and ants to get into the bedroom. Some more privacy for the bathroom area would have been great. The latch to the private pool area is hard to keep closed, which can make it seem less private
