The inside of the hotel is an absolute paradise, for it only being down the street from a busy street. I was put in a room with a king size bed and a beautiful overlook of the lush pool area. The bed was firm, which didn't bother me and the pillows were fair. The room was quite big and the AC sat right next to the bed up by the ceiling, and worked very well. The shower was large and the hot water worked great. They provide two soft towels as well as two bottle waters for your convenience. The pool was open to swim all night I believe. I took a few late night swims which was true luxury, but there is no lighting in the pool just to let you know. My rate had breakfast included, which was decent, simple, but the servers were always friendly and for the price I can't believe I even got breakfast. An egg, some juice and coffee is a good way to start a day. It is located right next to the Monkey forest so if you walk out right you will run right into it. This means there were a few monkeys on property. I didn't see many of them and weren't a nuisance, at all like some of the other comments, but if you're afraid of monkeys avoid that area and avoid eye contract. It was a very nice stay for the two days I was in Ubud. Great location for shops to the left, a convenience store across the street and about a 40 minute walk to the fire dancing show and more shops and markets.

Though my stay was perfect for me. As a note, it was a bit noisy at all hours. The road down to the bungalows can really only be accessed by bike and there is a small side road that connects right outside the hotel. So all day and most part of the night you hear honking from that bike path. Then in the morning (I was placed over the breakfast room) it also was a bit noisy. But that's not in the staffs control, just mentioning as a precaution for light sleepers. I loved the deck and hanging rack, but it almost deems useless since you can't leave your things unattended because of the monkeys.

Amazing location, close to both the monkey forest and the ubud markets. Lots of food places of different cuisines around the area. The breakfast at the location was complimentary and delicious that included one tea or coffee drink, one juice, and a main (per person). Really cool if you like seeing monkeys up close from the safety of your accomodation as the accomodation is next to the monkey forest and you can see them from inside your room or see them hanging out around the pool area. The staff is quite alert about the monkey and so they do shoo them away if they seem like they will come close.

The bathroom clogged quite easily.

Great spot to stay in Ubud. We had a nice room overlooking the pool. Good breakfast which was included. Staff were great here so we actually booked a couple of trips through the hotel too. Shops, bars and restaurants close by. The monkey forest is a 5 min walk away so monkeys are at the hotel and will be on your balcony during the day, meant we didn’t have to pay to go in the monkey forest as we got to see them at the hotel 😀

Do not stay here if you don’t want to be in contact with monkeys! We loved watching them so not a problem for us but they can be a bit scary and no way you can leave anything on the balcony in the day.

We loved our stay at Wenara, the rooms were clean and comfortable (the beds were hard but this is normal in Asia and these weren't too bad), the balcony's have lovely views, the pool amazing and the brekkies were great and plentiful. Being on the edge of Monkey Forest there are many monkeys in the property and on the balcony's. My animal lover teen son loved his upstairs room as he could sit on the balcony surrounded by monkeys! I did prefer the downstairs room as the monkeys didn't visit as much! The location is peaceful with the sound of a river rushing nearby. The shopping in the closest street was nice too, aswell as 2 minimarts super close.

The only thing we didn't like so much was the lack of nearby cheap places to eat dinner. It was raining every evening so we didn't want to venture far.

The rooms were lovely, but if you are on the 2nd floor beware that there are no lifts! There are constantly monkeys around being right beside the sanctuary, so if you don't like that or want that, I would advise you not to go. The bathroom is nice and big with nice showers but mine didn't have much water pressure and sort of went all over the place. The breakfast is pretty basic and didn't suit me as I don't eat eggs, but I found other places nearby which were good. The hotel is right on the corner of Monkey Forest Road and Bisma II so there are constantly bikes using this as a cut through and they beep their horns incessantly which I found a little annoying. If you want quiet throughout the day then this is not for you. It is easy to get anywhere from the hotel though and there are plenty of "marts" around and good restaurants or massage places within a very short walking distance. The pool was nice and there was always a chair available, but it wasn't heated so was a little cold for my liking.

There is no safe in the room but you can keep your valuables in the clothes cupboard which you have a key to or your suitcase. You cannot leave anything outside or really eat outside without being vigilant. The monkeys will be there in a flash but will go away if you shoo them also.

Great location. Cool seeing the monkeys around and the rooms big and clean.

Cold shower and breakfast could be better

This beautiful property is a real hidden gem and such good value for money. Room was spacious and bathroom was nice - all clean and turned down each day. The staff even noticed when we were out early for the sunrise trekking and our room was turned down before our arrival back at 10.30am! Breakfast was decent and staff were friendly and helpful. Location is ideal - right next to monkey forest so do expect monkeys running around the property! Helped us planning activities and onward travel if needed. Would definitely stay again.

Any issues we had were resolved immediately by the staff. Eg our air con broke one day and they let us relax in another AC’d room until the engineer could come later that day to fix. Perfect resolution dealt with brilliantly by the staff.

The reason I booked this place was the convenient location within walkable distance to the main street of restaurants and shops. Expect some visitors from the neighbouring Monkey Forest but don’t worry the quick-witted staff spring to action. The pool was lovely and was packed during prime tanning hours (no surprises there). For breakfast you get to select from a small but decent menu, staff were friendly and always ready to help- e.g. will ask you each morning before you leave if you want your room cleaned. There’s also a board of tourist activities that you can join (additional $) with pickup/drop off directly to/from Wenara.

Amazing outlook over the monkey forest with plenty of opportunities to watch them from your room. Very good location to walk around town. Lovely charming little no frills hotel. If you don’t like monkeys in your space this isn’t the place for you. Staff come around and shoo them away but they do spend a lot of time on the grounds and some may fight on the rooftop.

My only criticism was the bathroom was quite mouldy , no TV in room but overall it was a great place to stay for the price . Breakfast is very basic from a set menu.

The hotel was great value for money, simple and easy - not trying to be anything more or less. Booked this after staying at hotel, which left after one night - this was a pleasure to stay at. Great views and enjoyed watching the monkeys. Room was everything you could want from a room in a great location.

Reviews talked about noise of road, yes there was some noise, but nothing as bad as imagined. The most noise was from the forest / waterfall etc. Just be careful with monkeys - we ended up being ‘confined to the room’ as we had a family of monkeys sitting there which we didn’t want to disturb. But overall - excellent for the value and location.
