I think Kala has the potential to grow in to a excellent hostel after construction. I stayed in a two bedroom female dorm. Very large and enough room for both people the bathroom is big as well. Comfortable bed and good breakfast. The staff that work there are all so lovely and kind as well. It’s within walking and scooter distance of great restaurants and beaches (like Thomas beach). I will be back after construction finished to experience the new and improved Kala.

The plumbing in the bathroom could use a redo as water was flooding from the the bathing area into the main area of the bathroom. A minor issue in itself.

The breakfast was included for me and had a selection of 3 different meal types, and they could customize it based on preference, nice fresh fruits and juices. The pool was well kept and beautiful, the bedroom was shared between 4 but was really spacious and I loved the full length locker cabinets each guest got. The social hosts organized plenty of activities and helped guests feel welcome. I also loved the surf lesson I took, first of my life but the instructors made me feel so comfortable and weee extremely skilled.

My one note is the room bathroom could have been kept a bit better, it maybe needs some renovation with some mould and the shower drainage system wouldn’t fully work.

We felt welcomed and part of the Kala family from the moment we arrived. The staff and guests were all lovely, and Antonio organised great activities which were shared through the Kala Family app. Our room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. There was always plenty to do and many friendly people to chat with—perfect for both solo travellers and groups. The breakfast was lovely, as was all the food from the restaurant, which stayed open late and offered wonderful service—nothing was ever too much trouble. The wifi was strong and consistent. We also organised laundry and transport directly through the property. Five stars for everything!

The surf staff is soo friendly and funny. They're great teachers. The pool is beautiful and a great place to relax. The restaurant is also tasty but if you don't feel like eating there theres a ton of restaurants around to go eat at.

The bathroom wasn't y favorite. Theres no separation between the sink, shower, and toilet, but i've learned that's not uncommon in South East Asia. However the water smells so it made the bathroom and room as a whole smell bad.

The aesthetics. The staff was really lovely and so supportive. The breakfast was truely amazing. Best one so far from the places with included breakfast. The sourdough bread with smashed avo. They also do surf analysis videos almost every evening. Also as a non surfer i found it interesting to listen.

There are some very fancy wardrobe in the rooms, but no lockers where you can store a laptop or any valuable items safe. I always had to bring my stuff to the reception. Also in the girls dorm room, were no hot water. It seemed to be an adjustment of the system and not a temporarily problem. Also the showers had always a huge puddle, cause the water would not drain away.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by the super friendly staff, who made me feel like part of the family. Thank you so much guys (especially Rivian!) A special shoutout to the amazing guys from the orga team - Alessandro, Guille you guys are doing a perfect job! Every day, they put together an exciting program full of activities, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Whether it was outdoor adventures, fun group events, or relaxing evenings with a Jamming session. If you’re looking for a place with heart, where you feel at home from day one, this is the perfect choice. I can’t wait to come back! (Especially to focus more on surfing!)

I spent 3 nights at Kala and overall I enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly, the place is brand new and very cozy. The location is perfect. But for my point of view, considering the high price you pay, there are quite a few things to improve. Apart from that, I’d like to say that I had a great time at Kala and I met so many great people.

I think everything they offer is overpriced. Maybe is the Uluwatu vibe. The rooms are nice even if for the high price you would expect more: the beds do not have any curtains and this doesn’t provide you with any privacy. They should add them to each bed. There is no hot water in the shower and it’s full of mosquitoes all over the room. The breakfast, considering the price you pay to sleep…it’s not the best.

Awesome surf vibes – even if you don’t surf! I’m not a surfer, but I absolutely loved this place! It has such a cool, laid-back atmosphere with a beautiful property, stylish rooms, and a really great pool. The whole design and vibe are just spot-on — everything looks fresh, modern, and super well-maintained. There were lots of young, sporty, friendly people around, which added to the energy of the place. If you’re into that surfy-community feel, you’ll love it here — but even if you’re not, it’s still a great spot to relax and enjoy. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were kind and helpful. Honestly, I just enjoyed every minute of my stay. Would definitely come back — maybe even try surfing next time!

I had the pleasure of staying at Kala Surf Camp with my mum, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm, friendly smiles from the staff, who made us feel right at home. The service was exceptional—everyone was so attentive and genuinely happy to assist us with anything we needed. The amenities at the camp are beautiful! The pool area is absolutely stunning, and we loved spending time there, especially at the swim-up bar. It’s such a relaxing spot to enjoy a refreshing drink while soaking up the sun. The camp's overall atmosphere is both vibrant and peaceful, which made it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I highly recommend Kala Surf Camp to anyone looking for great service, beautiful facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Kala Surf Camp was the final stop of my trip, and it left me with the best memories. The location is perfect—right in the central area, surrounded by amazing coffee shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and shopping spots where you can find so many interesting things. The hotel itself is truly unique, with a great pool, incredibly delicious breakfasts, and an absolutely lovely staff. The team here is beyond amazing, making sure you feel comfortable and cared for at all times. Their warmth and hospitality really stood out! I also used their laundry service and was super happy with it—my clothes were ready the next day, neatly packed and fresh. Since I had an early flight, they even prepared some fruits for me to take on the go, which was such a thoughtful touch. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to try surfing this time, but I’m already planning to take lessons at Kala Surf Camp on my next visit! The rooms were spotless, the bed and mattress were super comfortable, and everything was well-maintained. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the cleaning service was always on time, keeping everything fresh and tidy. I highly recommend this place—such a gem! Can’t wait to come back!
