This bed-and-breakfast had nice, clean modern rooms. It was in an excellent location to the city center. Very quiet. Great parking for our rental car and easy check-in. They do offer breakfast for a fee, however, we did not sample as we left early the next morning. We would stay here again on our next trip!

There was no plugs in the bathroom or outside to plug in a curling iron. The only one we could locate was by the nightstand, so my daughter had to sit on the bed so she could see herself in the mirror that was a good distance by the door. This would not deter us from staying there as it is very nice!

Des & Oonaga were friendly, helpful, efficient and gave me some great local information. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The room was very clean & the bed was perfect. After my morning shower the breakfast went down a treat.

I can't really fault Carragh House but If I was to pick one thing I'd probably say put the price of the breakfast up a couple of euro's & add some traditional Irish black & white pudding (obviously my personal taste). Will stay there again If I'm in the area :)

Excellent location and a beautiful house. Good facilities and a spacious room with ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of sliced fresh fruit and cereal too from a buffet style island counter. The fry was individually prepared for your taste and plenty of beverages available.

My room had two beds a double and a single, sadly the sheet's weren't clean in the double however the single had fresh ones and as I was travelling alone I didn't complain.

A true gem! I stayed at this B&B and was absolutely delighted. The owners are incredibly kind—always helpful, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. The place is spotless, beautifully maintained, and very comfortable. And the breakfast? Simply dreamy! Rich, varied, and prepared with love. A wonderful experience I highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxation, quality, and genuine hospitality. I will definitely be back!

Extremely welcoming owners, room and bathroom clean and tidy. Breakfast choices were amazing, fresh and cooked and presented well.

TV in room very small. Tea and coffee provided but only one cup and no teaspoons or milk. Only one spare pillow in room as a couple would benefit with 2 spare pillows. Room got quite cold when heating not on (stayed in Dec) would benefit from rugs or perhaps complimentary cheap slippers

Great place to stay. Well located in centre of Castlebar. Very close to shops, restaurants and bars. Perfect as a base to explore the west coast of Ireland. Off street parking and free wifi. Always get a warm welcome from the hosts, Des and Oonagh. If you need advice on places to go, they are on hand. If you want to just get on with your own thing, then not a problem either. Would recommend.

The breakfasts were great - an excellent choice of items and so well cooked.

The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a bedside lamp. The small light high over the bed was too high to reach from the bed - and had an exceptionally small switch right underneath the lamp - so if one had to get up in the night it was dark and had to search for it which wasn't good.

The hosts are extremely hospitable, welcoming, helpful, and friendly; the breakfast - cereal, fruit, yoghurt, juice, and cooked Irish - was excellent with copious coffee; the (ensuite) room was spacious and clean with a kettle and generous tea and coffee sachets and milk and sugar; good TV and wifi; the location is just on the edge of Castlebar (on the road to Ballina), just minutes from the centre on foot (the train station is on the edge of the other side of the town)...

I would advise printing a short info leaflet about places to go/eat etc in Castlebar as upon check in I couldn't possibly retain ALL the names and directions I was given orally! (I should have requested an external/open view room when I was booking as unfortunately I just had a wall outside the window - this is totally on me, of course...I usually book hotels and always request this, but just didn't think of this when I was booking the B&B!)...

Great location for exploring Mayo & beyond . Des & Oonagh are very welcoming and made our stay very enjoyable . Great recommendations of places to visit . Comfortable, clean facilities and generous, delicious breakfast. Hoping to return & would highly recommend

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Castlebar then I would recommend Carragh House without hesitation. Very well positioned for the town centre and lovely hosts that go to great lengths to ensure that your stay is perfect.

The only thing that I didn't like was having to go home after just two days.
