Pretty much everything was done well and efficiently. Bar, restaurant, room maintenance, reception, etc, all friendly and helpful. Everything worked well. Greatly appreciated understanding when returning from walking on very wet day, flexibility about breakfast at weekends to assist arrival in time for start of walks, and also the kind sympathy when feeling unwell on morning of check out. Thank you.

Maybe price but it was at least four star service from a four star hotel. Room by main road is a bit noisy so I would ask for a quieter room when coming again.

We chose the Ellison at the last minute, as I had taken the day off to attend my graduation ceremony, and we decided to take the train to Castlebar. From the very beginning, the hotel exceeded our expectations with their exceptional care and thoughtfulness. Before our arrival, they proactively called to advise on safe driving due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Bert, and they reassured us with flexible check-in options in case of any delays. When we arrived, we were greeted by a magical sight, the landscape was completely covered in snow, creating a winter wonderland that took our breath away. The next morning, we were delighted by the generous breakfast spread, which offered a wide variety of sweet and savoury options to suit every taste. The hotel was bustling with students and their families gathered for the local university’s graduation ceremony, filling the hall with a lively and festive atmosphere. What truly sets the Ellison apart is the warmth and friendliness of its staff. Their genuine hospitality made our stay even more special, and we are so grateful for the wonderful experience. Thank you for making such an important occasion even more unforgettable!

Perfect place to stay if attending an event in TFRoyal. Rooms are standard design. Dinner was the biggest surprise - really excellent quality and value and great service. And they were exceptionally accommodating about timing around the event (well used to it!).

Not sure I'd rate this a 4* on service or facilities (apart from dinner). Breakfast was just ok quality, though service again very friendly and efficient. Rooms and overall ambiance of hotel are a bit functional and could be anywhere in the world in design terms. Expensive-ish for what you get.

Absolutely everyone who works in that hotel , are so customer based & nothing is too much trouble . Car parking is excellent. The room was clean, bright & so comfortable for our 4 night stay . The bed was so comfortable, just wish we could have had a lie-in. Breakfast delicious . We had dinner Monday evening & I would 110% recommend it, it was so well presented & the lamb was so tender, got to say the best meal we have had in ages. I would go back in a heartbeat .

The deluxe room was so beautiful and spacious light and airy , bed was super comfortable , had a lot of storage and space , parking was great bonus , We literally only stayed for the night as we were at a gig next door in the TF royal , you could get to the venue through an entrance from Car park to the venue which was a great added touch , We didn’t get a chance to have food in the hotel. , we are both dying to come back and stay soon Staff were super friendly and informative at check in , so lovley and natural . Great hospitality and interaction

The hotel is very close to the center. Rooms were modern and comfortables. Staff were lovely and breakfast was very good. We went to a show in the TF Royal, Castlebar Events Theatre and it was a two minute walk to it from the hotel which was great. There was also a carpark which was great.

There wasn't a pub / bar as such, there was just a restaurant which was booked out on the night we arrived, so I would recommend booking in advance if you want to eat there. But there is no where really to sit down and have a drink or have bar food.

Beds were really comfortable, breakfast was lovely and staff were really friendly and helpful. We also had Sunday dinner in the restaurant and it was incredible, amazing food and great value for money.

Only slight criticism is the selection of food for breakfast when stay more than one night, the full Irish options were excellent but the continental/ cereal options were very limited and no pastries etc.

All staff were very hospitable, helpful, friendly and chatty, we instantly felt welcomed at reception. Great location and price. The food in Siar restaurant was very tasty, nicest Thai Red curry I’ve had! Room service was also great, delivered very efficiently and presented nicely. It’s not often I’ve felt compelled to leave a review but this stay warranted it, I’ve also been recommending it to family since. Well done to all involved.

Hotel staff are very friendly from front of house to the cleaning staff

Unfortunately the carpark is a bit of a joke . You have free parking when a guess of the hotel which is great but unfortunately even when I gave my car registered on several occasions the barrier would not open for me and the hotel can’t over rode the system. I have to wait 5 minutes on 2 occasions for the assistance person to answer. This needs to be looked at as it causes a back log on the car park

We received a very warm and friendly welcome from all the staff. The room was spacious clean and nicely designed with soft colours. The room was warm and extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with lovely soft and fresh white towels .The meals were extremely good value and the food was that of a very high quality. There was a great choice for breakfast, something for everyone to enjoy and set you up with a good start for the day. The dinner menu again was presented with plenty of really interesting and exciting choices ,just what we needed after a memorable day of touring. It was lovely and relaxing to finish off the day with a nice drink sitting in the bar area just watching the world go by and feeling ,I wish we could stay a little longer. I certainly would recommend the Ellison for all the above reasons and i am looking forward to returning for my next well deserved break!
