The location everything was splendid. It’s an old castle but renovated very well with very nice materials. The garden is very nice. The restaurant the pool everything on point the location is very close to Milan about half an hour and also very close to Saravelle outlet center. It’s a little hidden gem near the city of Aruna, which by the lake has very nice restaurants and fantastic views of the Swiss alps

We liked everything. However, next to the bed there was an electric control panel for the lights in the room. The control panel was quite complicated to operate. Why not keeping it simple ? But after all we managed somehow to close all the lights .

Wow, what an incredible find! The hotel is essentially made up of 3 separate buildings. We had initially booked to stay in the Castle itself and had it been just the two of us, it would have been an amazing room to stay in but the sofa bed was located in a mezzanine floor and was a little unsuitable for our two young boys however the staff were amazing and offered us a different suite in the main hotel which was equally as impressive but this time all on one level and with a huge bath. Breakfast is incredible, pretty much everything you could hope for and more. They also have an amazing wine selection. Communication was great, they reached out to us as soon as we made the booking to confirm a few details and even gave us a great recommendation for somewhere to eat locally. We would have tried their restaurant but the timings didn’t quite work for our young ones. In the end we enjoyed it that much, we actually went back the following even to try some more of their dishes. My wife also pointed out how spotlessly clean the rooms were. Something we also seem to pick up on in other hotels. This place, as you might expect was immaculate. All in all, we were very pleased with our selection. It was worth every penny and definitely plan on returning.

The only slight issue, not even an issue really, but the one cause for confusion was over the parking. When booked through this app (booking.com), it offered us 2 prices. The more expensive option included parking, late check in and hi-speed internet. I was not fussed about the late check in or WiFi but we definitely needed the parking but as we found out, parking is actually free at the hotel but the advert definitely did not allude to that fact. Moreover there is an underground garage you can park in but it will cost extra and is not included in the fee you pay through the app. The staff were very accommodating and content with me using the garage on this occasion in light of the confusion but I do hope the listing is amended to inform others parking outside, on site is free.

The service was excellent—Mr. Orazio even picked us up on his way home when no taxi was available, which was incredibly kind of him. The room was beautiful, and the bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunately, when we visited the restaurant for lunch, they were offering a temporary menu due to a children’s event at the nearby castle. While the food was good, the options were noticeably more limited and simpler than their usual offerings. It was a bit disappointing to have to follow that menu despite not being part of the event, and overall, the value for money didn’t quite match our expectations

We utmost enjoyed our stay as a family of four. The hotel and its grounds are well kept and the history of the castle is inspiring. I really like that the original family changed their ways throughout history to maintain the castle and keep it family owned. When they keep it up like this it will remain a land mark for the next thousand years. Staff is great, food and drinks at/near the pool, excellent parking (both paid indoor and free gated parking options are great), great choice of restaurants for fine dining and in a more casual setting (with swing for the kids), nice pool, good breakfast, away from the crowds, what else would you need? I can truly recommend the hotel to both families and young or older couples.

There's always small things that could be improved, but none worth mentioning.

I think we tried all of the dining options: Dan Garden Lounge, Le Fief, Folia (the poolside lounge), and of course breakfast. They're all delightful -- indoor and outdoor seating, with large umbrellas that protect diners from rain as well as sun. Breakfast included omelettes and all sorts of coffees to order, fresh fruit and pastry, cold meats, eggs/sausage/bacon, juices, sparkling wine -- what you would expect from a better hotel. Dinner at Le Fief was exceptionally good -- innovative, with fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, and obvious thought behind each dish. Our waiter Mauro took special care in finding wines to go with our meal. Throughout the weekend, staff struck a perfect chord: always there when we needed something, but otherwise leaving us in peace to explore the gorgeous grounds and ponder the layers of historical detail inside and outside of the castello.

This is less something I didn't like -- I liked everything -- so it's more of a wish for something: outdoor dining on the terrace behind the castello where there is a spectacular view of the Lago Maggiore. I think this area is probably reserved for events (weddings, etc.) during the high season, but it would be perfection to have that view while savoring such good food.

The hotel has 3 buildings: the historical castle, the mansion and the stables. We had a junior suite in the stables, which are arranged like a motel with all rooms opening onto a central courtyard. Two big rooms and a nice bathroom, with simple and modern furniture, a comfortable double bed, and a big sofa-bed (for which we had to pay extra). Nice buffet breakfast, but if you want fresh juice you have to ask for it, otherwise it's canned. Two good restaurants on site, a fancy one, "Le fief", and the grill, "Dan's lounge", plus the bar (good club sandwich). There is also, a very nice restaurant in the village (Il bue d'oro), just as good and definitely cheaper than "Le fief" (try their Zabaione for dessert !). Big outdoors swimming pool, but no sauna / hammam. Free outdoors parking. The staff was very kind and helpful. The location is quiet, the castle is in the middle of a huge private park, ideal for strolling or jogging. The closest town, Arona, is not very interesting., better drive to Stresa instead, it's about 30 min away following the lake shore.

The little details that would make it 5 start were missing. For instance: there were a coffee machine and a tee kettle in the room... but no tea cups. Only 2 paper cups barely big enough for an espresso (and seriously: paper cups? In a 5 star hotel?). Powerful AC in the room, but the controls are overridden from the from desk: if you get gold at night, you cannot turn it off, you need to call the front desk. Big bathroom, with tub and shower cabin... but no soap holder under the shower and only one tiny piece of soap provided for 3 people (replaced after 5 days). We ended up buying our own bar of soap and tea mugs. Maybe things are different in the Castel? This might be the case but, as for as our suite is concerned, I would rate it at most 4 stars, not 5.

The castle is magnificent with wonderful views of the lake and beautiful gardens to stroll around. Comfortable accommodation and very quiet. Very up market hotel and competitively priced.

It wasn't quite ready for opening. The first day breakfast was served in the restaurant. Tea plate with very small serving. One meal was missed, and when it came, totally different bacon and mushrooms to the others. Only one small slice of toast per person. They could improve on portion sizes.

Amazing ambiance! We stayed in the Castello and it was so romantic. Spacious room, very comfortable bed and good airconditioning. Pool was very modern and convenient. Good service! We liked the personal touch of the owners who were present on property and address questions etc.

The pool was closed on several days when the weather would allow and open on days when the weather was poor The two restaurants had a menu for someone staying 3 or4 days. We were there 13 days??????

The property was absolutely beautiful especially the complimentary tour of the castle. Dinner in both restaurants was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was really lovely. We will definitely return.

One slight problem was the limited number of sunbeds at the pool. The pool attendant was very helpful to try to get us a sun bed but we had to wait for people to leave on both days of our stay.
