An oasis ìn a simple, quite backstreet of Catania, away from the bustle but within easy walking distance of the historic centre. Also, local neighbourhood full of character, and just five minutes from waterside regeneration cultural complex in repurposed sulphur factory : an arts venue, with performances, cinema museum, and museum of the WW2 allied liberation landings. The charming host has created an artistic environment, and is an engaging advocate for the cultural life of Catania, in which she has played an active role as a jazz singer. Rooms are creatively designed, split level, and restaurant is a spacious, airy restored interior of the historic site, with a sunny private courtyard. Airport shuttle bus stop just three minutes away, and rail and bus stations ten minutes away.

I came by bus, but those in a car might find parking a challenge

This is the second time we’ve stayed there — the check-in staff are great and very helpful (ditto the breakfast staff), the rooms are nice, the beds comfortable, the shower excellent, and the breakfasts fine for food and superb for the amount of light and openness of the room. Both times we’ve had a van collect us from the airport to take us to the hotel, and then the following day walked (with lots of wheeled bags) the relatively short (slightly downhill) way to the train station for our onward journey — it’s extremely convenient. We also discovered this time a jolly nice restaurant (open late) just round the corner from the hotel (serving mostly fresh fish). This has I think now become our preferred way to get to the north coast of Sicily — flying in to Catania rather than Palermo, and then taking the train to Cefalu via Messina the following day — we’ll probably try to give ourselves more time to explore Catania on some future visit but either way this is our top choice of hotel to stay for ensuring a relaxing start to an otherwise intensive two weeks of work and play.

Nothing to add here — this will now be our standard choice when flying into Sicily.

Me and my boyfriend spent 5 nights in the hotel and we are very satisfied with the place. The locations is great, 20 minutes walk from the Center of the city and really close to the bus station (5 minutes walk). You can find everything close, like supermarket, pasticceria and good restaurants. The people from the reception and from the breakfast were so friendly and nice! They help us to book our tours and reserve restaurants. They are always with a good smile and mood! The hotel bedroom was equipped with everything that we needed. The shower was great and the air conditioner was working perfectly. The decoration of the hotel was really cool and I enjoyed a lot the atmosphere. Really good deal for the price.

The only think that can be better in my opinion is the breakfast. There is not too much variety and is always the same.

The name of the hotel suggested that it wouldn’t be bland - and it wasn’t. The music and art is evident everywhere in this modern hotel. Our room was large, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The open-plan courtyard seating area was delightful and the breakfast excellent. What was exceptional was the dedication of Mascia, the receptionist, who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She was the star of the show!

The hotel is ideally located close to the railway station and for access to the airport/public transport. However, it is not in an up-market area of touristic interest. You would have to travel the short distances to those areas.

What a nice hotel! The staff is friendly, polite, and incredibly helpful. The hotel is clean and has all you need. The rooms are spacious, and the bed is comfortable. We used Catania as a base and took day trips - there is parking you can book via the hotel just about 100 meters away. There are places to eat around the hotel and the centre of town is about 15 mins walk - super easy to get to. If ever in Catania again, we will definitely stay here!

Nice room on two levels - with desk, wardrobe and coffee making facilities downstairs, while bed and bathroom are upstairs, this was easy to get to from the airport and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was traditional Italian fare (biscuits, fruit and pastries, along with ham, cheese and tomotoes) and there was lots of choice, with a friendly attendant making fresh coffee and keeping supplies topped up I had my phone stolen near the cathedral (not the hotel) and the staff were super helpful in helping me to make my connections, printing directions and making sure I was OK.

Very minor, I'd have liked to see more vegetables at breakfast (other than tomatoes) but there was fruit and ham and cheese. If you weren't expecting stairs in your room it might be a challenge with bigger bags

It's a modern place with amenities like outdoor seating, loft bedroom, AC. Bathroom and shower good. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very interesting hotel with 20th century jazz and movie posters and theme. Convenient to train station. It was a fun, enjoyable stay.

Leave key at front desk when you leave the premises. Staffed 24 hours a day, or maybe 23--they went missing one morning for 45 minutes, leaving us no way to get into the hotel.

I chose Art & Jazz because of its proximity to the bus and train stations. In the end a group of 8 of us gathered at the hotel and they arranged some cars to take us to our resort in Siracusa. Everyone was friendly. I shared a spacious two level room, with a big bathroom. Breakfast was nice, and they brought us cappuccinos in addition to the American coffee on the buffet. The staff sent us to an amazing restaurant around the corner for dinner.

It was a lot warmer on the top level, even though the airconditioner was positioned in a good place. This could be an advantage for people who like to sleep at different temperatures.

The breakfast spread was large and there was something I could always have to eat. The room was large, with a well equipped bathroom, comfortable bed, and well needed air conditioning. I heard no outside noise, it was a nice and quiet and relaxing atmosphere in the hotel. All staff were kind and friendly and willing to help out when needed.

The location was slightly out of the city centre, which I knew beforehand, but did mean a bit of walking to the centre.

The hotel was well located, very close to the central train station and the downtown. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The AC unit is crying for a decent cleaning, it almost wasn't working which could have been a problem during summer. The gate of the hotel is always closed and you have to ring the bell in order to get in. We were told that this is not a problem because there is always somebody at the reception to get you in, but we stucked outside during the day once for 10 min.
