It's such a beautiful place! As soon as you enter, you simultaneously feel at home and on your best Mediterranean vacation! We booked a ground level apartment, which turned out to be quite spacious, as well as the bathroom, with direct access to the garden and near the pool, also near the outdoor dining space where the vending machines are. Several nights we stayed in and had a salad on the veranda, when a cute cat came to visit twice. Indeed, we took advantage of the provided vegetables from the garden (great cherry tomatoes) - you can find those on a trolley cart near the vending machines. The bed was super comfortable for us, there was AC as well, the window shutters worked well for stopping the sun when needed and for some cross-ventilation at the same time. For almost all the time we used a scooter to move around the island, so everything was quite easy to access, plus there are some parking spaces at the property. The supermarket in Panza was about 10 min away with the scooter, bakeries - even 5 min away. We had to climb the hill only once on foot, but it turned out not to be that bad. A bus stop is right on the main street, where the incline starts. At the property, there are the phone numbers of several stores where you can order groceries to be delivered, also you can order delivery from a pizzeria. I am extremely happy we stayed at San Domenico, it was an amazing place and starting point to discover the island!

The location must be taken into account when booking, as it may be too much of a climb for some. I actually have to admit that this exact location is what provided such tranquility, so not an issue for me. Also, you better bring your own water. There are only small bottles of water available to purchase in the vending machines. Finally, beware of the mosquitoes - well, they are almost everywhere on the island anyways.

Location was lovely and peaceful. Getting the bus was easy enough as there is a bus stop 10 minutes walk from the accommodation. Would recommend to get a 3 day bus pass from the tobacco shop when you first arrive at the port as that was handy. The free home grown veggies and tomatoes were such a great addition and the vending machine was nice to have when wanting a quick snack or drink. The pool was clean and refreshing. You can even order cheap pizzas to be delivered just make sure you have cash as well. The local cat came to visit frequently as well and is super friendly and cute!

Maybe to have some more cooking basics

This is our 3rd stay in SanDomenico and next time we will also stay only in Maria's house :). What we like so much here: - hospitable hosts - beautiful green area with citrus orchard - swimming pool - rooms of different sizes The famous Poseidon Gardens - up to 10 minutes by car and up to 30 minutes on foot. Incredible Ravino cactus garden 10-15 minutes walk (next to the bus stop).

What might be a disadvantage for other tourists: the path with a rather steep climb from the bus stop to the residence can become exhausting. For us it was not a problem and the walking time from the bus stop up to the residence was 10 minutes.

We had a wonderful trip! We rented 3 apartments with a total of 10 people. There were other people staying in other apartments, but the location of the pool and the garden made us feel like we had our own villa! There is a vending machine with cornetto and coffees if you need it, but self catering without a car will require trips to town in a taxi which costs around 15-20 euro. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment but make sure to bring the essentials like oil, salt, coffee etc. There is a mocha and a drip coffee machine and the apartment comes with toilet paper and soap. The staff was very easy to communicate with and friendly, we would gladly stay again! The island is beautiful and the property is very well taken care of. Thanks for everything!

Everything was great.

Super peaceful location back from the noise of road and town, set in a beautiful garden/vineyard with the mountain in the background. The family who runs it were great hosts and great people. There's a vending machine with snacks, coffee and beer(!) and a really nice pool to cool down in after a long day. There are some really good restaurants just further up the hill, and there are your more standard fair in Citara just a 20 minute walk down the hill. You can also get a 5 minutes bus to Forio. The location is perfect for all the things to see on the West of the island, The cactus garden, the thermal baths at Poseidon, or a bit further up on the bus at Negombo, and all the beaches.

This hill is a thing, might be a struggle if you're elderly or with kids, but cars and mopeds can get up there so maybe renting one would be advised in that case. However the island is very hilly anyway, and I was used to hiking so wasn't so bad for me.

Lovely hosts and staff, the grounds and the facilities are all pristine and spotless - you can just tell how much they care for and look after this place. It is a peaceful oasis away from the town and is perfect for anyone after a relaxing break. The rooms were of a great size and so clean - with a terrace/balcony for each room which drying racks/pegs/chairs and table outside. Our room had a sofa, kitchen, dining table, double bed, wardrobe space with at least 6 hangers, and a sizeable bathroom with a shower. They were growing oranges, lemons, herbs and vegetables on site and there were plenty of cute little cats around, very chill and playful. The breakfast was simple but lovely, just to tell Maria or her daughter the day before if you would like breakfast the next day. They have soft drinks like coffee and pastries available. There are inside seats and also a few tables on a balcony with a lovely view. Honestly if you don’t mind the walk up the hill and are after a relaxing stay I would recommend this place.

There is a fairly steep hill you need to walk up to get the hotel approximately 5 minutes uphill walking but this is par for the course in Ischia. The bus stop at the bottom can take you easily into Forio town, the beach nearby to Poseidon thermal spa, or any of the towns on the island. The buses are very reliable and cheap, I recommend taking these over taxis as the taxis are very expensive here.

Beautiful property run by a lovely lady who was so so friendly and made us feel very welcome. The pool area and gardens are immaculately kept and the apartment itself was spotlessly clean. The cleaning ladies were so friendly too :) it’s very peaceful and relaxing due to the location.

The property is up a very steep and winding road which wouldn’t have been a problem except my partner was 5 months pregnant and we had a toddler to push in a buggy too so it became a real chore! I’d strongly recommend hiring a car if this might be a problem for you.

San Domenico is a beautiful place run by amazing people. The hotel is away from the busy streets surrounded by green tropical plants so it's super peaceful and a beautiful place. The staff (especially Frederica + Maria) are wonderful ladies and made so much effort to help us when needed. They even grow their own vegetables and herbs and put in a bowl every day for guests to help themselves to. You'd be a fool if you didn't stay here when visiting Ischia, I couldn't recommend this place more!

This is the cleanest place we have ever stayed in! Maria the host is a wonderful lady, living on site. She was so helpful and lovely to talk to. The grounds are immaculately kept and just delightful. It is possible to order takeaway pizza and groceries to the property, and there is a lovely restaurant just up the hill (5mins walk) The bus that goes around the island (and to most places) is at the bottom of the hill. The hill is a lovely walk. We are early 60s, reasonably fit and did it in less than 10 minutes going up.

The environment was amazing. Views of the volcano and partly of the sea. The pool area with views and the rooms was also a major plus. The staff was so sweet and helpful. Everything was clean and pleasant. Looking forward to coming back.
