The Hotel Gran Duca Di York was perfect for our stay in Milan. It's location is exceptional with it's closeness to the Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, and Sforza Castle. It is also conveniently located near the train station that we used to take a day trip out to Lake Como. The hotel is appointed very well and it's breakfast room is gorgeous. The included breakfast was delicious with many food choices. Each evening, guests are invited to relax in the lobby with a complimentary glass of Prosecco and light snacks. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are comfortable, and the air conditioning works very well. We also greatly appreciated their elevators as we traveled with heavy luggage. Additionally, the staff was able to arrange a very early (4 am) transportation to the airport and even included a take away breakfast bag for us. The desk clerk even made us some fresh coffees at 4 am!

We traveled throughout Europe for a month, and this hotel was a little more expensive than our other stays, but well worth the value. Milan is just expensive overall, and this hotel would be considered a mid range price compared to others. So we have no complaints.

The hotel is lovely and the workers there are very accessible and helpful. Many of the sights are easily walkable. and are also quite popular so reservations for tours should be planned for, and I didn’t get to see THE LAST SUPPER for lack of a reservation. The breakfast spread is excellent and the free drink each night is also a nice feature. I chose the Grand Duca diYork to pamper myself during my final 3 nights in Italy and i wasn’t disappointed!

No Complaints

From checking in to departure the whole experience was first class. The mini bar, which contained soft drinks and water, was a godsend, as it was very, very hot in the week we were there. Another nice touch was a nice cool glass of Prosecco, and a few nibbles before we headed off for the evening. Plenty of choice for breakfast, in a lovely breakfast room. Location of the hotel was superb, we were minutes away by foot from all the main sites. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, and a joy to deal with. All in all a fantastic experience, and we would recommend this hotel to anybody without hesitation.

There wasn't a single thing not to like.

Excellent location, within walking distance of the Duomo. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. There were a couple of good surprises: welcome drinks downstairs, and all non-alcoholic drinks in the mini-bar were free. On top of that, there were always pastries, candy and bottled water available at the lobby. The room was not big, but comfortable, well furnished and quiet. The breakfast was excellent with many options.

The bathroom could have been better: the shower area was very small. The shower head was splashing all over, and the toilet was leaking inside, wasting water. I reported the issue, they brought someone to fix, but it was not fixed.

I have been fortunate to stay at many hotels throughout the world and I am happy to say that this is one of the very best. The locations is fantastic, the staff are wonderful and the hotel itself is well appointed, clean, comfortable and the rooms are a generous size for European Hotel rooms. The breakfast is very good with a great selection of foods and the hotel provides a complimentary glass of prosecco each night of your stay with snacks if you want to partake. There are pastries available in reception along with bottles of both still and carbonated water and the lobby area provides a fantastic atmosphere to relax and unwind. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Nothing, the whole stay was fantastic.

From the first moments at check-in, the staff welcome and friendliness was excellent. Water and snacks provided in reception every day. Happy hour at 6.30pm every day. Location is amazing - less than 5 mins walk to Piazza Duomo. Room - beautiful - very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom with bath and shower, tea-making facilities Buffet style breakfast - perfect. Effective air-conditioning - essential as it was extremely hot during our stay.

Everything was perfect!

The hotel is really close to the Dome, 5-10 minutes walk. The neighbourhood felt safe (Bank of Italy is right next to it, as well as other bank headquarters). At night the streets were quiet. All the major attractions in the center of Milano are at ~30 minutes walk: Duomo, Cenacolo Vinciano, Galleria Vittorio and the neighbouring shopping places, Naviglio bars and restaurants. The building is nice and clean, personnel was careful. The small details made a difference: free bottle of water, possibility to borrow umbrellas if the weather is not so good, capuccino and italian coffee in the morning. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room was clean and taken care of daily. We appreciated the breakfast pastry, a wide selection.

The room feels a little outdated. Could use new wallpaper, scratched here and there (the lightning in the room was great though, with lamps all around). The bathroom was clean, but it had a bathtub, the appliances were outdated (worked well though and we appreciated the bidet). The biggest minus is the walls. They are not so insulated, so sounds from neighbouring rooms can be heard. Even conversations at regular voice. Luckily, we heard no yelling, probably being an adults only hotel. Breakfast was ok, but please change the recipe for eggs, and pay more attention on how bacon is cooked :) ).

We arrived after midnight and we received a very warm welcome from recption. He gave us our keys and complimentary bottles of water. After a very comfortable night's sleep we went for breakfast which was buffet with lots of choice. A 5 minute stroll the centre of Milan a fantastic bonus. Every evening we were offered a free glass of wine between 18:30 - 20:00 which was a lovely touch. Free mini cakes, fruit, biscuits, and bottles of water at reception. Well worth a stay here.

The only complaint, which was a minor point, there was plenty of hanging space but not draws.

This hotel treats it guests like royalty. You are provided a a free mini bar which is restocked, every day with mineral water, juices, and sodas. Every evening between 18:30 and 20:00 guests are invited to have a glass of wine or Prosecco along with nuts, chips and olives in the lobby. Breakfast was outstanding and consisted of: juices, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, American bacon, high quality Prosciutto, cooked ham, bresaola, croissants- plain and chocolate, yogurt, fresh fruit of the season (strawberries, kiwi, and pineapple) served in individual cups, cereals, many Italian toasts (individually wrapped), yogurt, the list goes on, and, individually prepared coffees of your choice (lattes, cappuccino, etc.). The staff was great. They assisted in making appointments, getting cabs, and recommending places to eat. The room was average size and the bathroom was excellent. Shower, toilet, bidet, and sink, along with towels and toiletries. The room was serviced every day. The hotel is located within minutes of a major shopping district, the Galleria, The Doumo di Milano, museums, and restaurants. In particular I would like to mention the breakfast staff and front desk staff for their great service and congenial attitude.

No instructions on how to operate the air conditioning and heating.

The location was quiet, but still easy walking distance to attractions and restaurants. The free breakfast was the one best we've seen worldwide. An incredible spread. The bar and bartenders was wonderful. Great variety, service, and even snacks. The front desk was very helpful and even made reservations for us. Free still water in room, and more still water and Pellegrino in the lobby, with snacks, also free. The room was cozy and quiet, with walk-in shower. Housekeeping was excellent. We would definitely return, and highly recommend it.
