Exceptionally helpful personnel. We had the garden room with immediate access to the garden. There are ample chairs and tables to sit and enjoy the weather. There is also a very large ‘glass’ house where we met with friends and were comfortable no matter what the weather. They had a full array of choices for breakfast. We walked just 2 blocks and were at the center of the restaurants and another block to the Basilica. It is also a few blocks from the train station. Very nice rooms with all you could need. I’d stay here again without any question.

Very convenient location, close - quick walking distance to the city center, to the church, to one of the entrances to the ruins, to the amphitheater where we went to a concert! The staff was amazing and very helpful always, they helped us with directions, tourism guidance, alcohol for mosquitoes, water, keeping our luggage for us and they also upgraded our room to a very lovely one! We loved our stay here and will definitely try to come back someday! The best part of this place is the staff and their willingness to help!

Nothing, everything is great.

Exceptionally clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts were very good with wide choices and tasty. The location was ten minutes stroll to the centre with plenty of good restaurants, a charming cathedral, and the Pompei ruins. Two railway stations were 15 minutes and the rail fares are very cheap compared to England. We felt very safe all of the time.

Taxi fares appeared to be always 20 euros even for a five minute ride. Everything else was delightful and we would return to the hotel.

Excellent front of house host. He anticipated our needs, made great recommendations for dining, routed us to the sites we wanted to see, managed our parking and even helped us with our bags; one could ask for no more. Spacious room and nice breakfast, either outdoors in the courtyard, in the glass conservatory, or inside in the small breakfast room. Table service staff - for coffee, etc. - was attentive. Parking is directly in front of the hotel and very convenient compared to many town centre hotels in Italy. I suggest reserving a spot when booking.

Hard to think. The location is very near town centre (good for us) and is set back from the main through-road behind a petrol station, so not as picturesque as some Naples hotels, but the location is PERFECT for Pompeii site visits (an easy walk to the southernmost gate), and also evening dining (with many choices in quality and cost very close by).

We stayed at the hotel for one night. The host Gaetano was extremely helpful - he recommended restaurants for dinner in the evening, and the next day he let us park our car at the hotel even after checking out so we could visit the archaeological site of Pompeii - it's quite easily reachable on foot from the hotel. The room was large and comfortable, but the beds are a bit "tired". The breakfast was solid, some salami and cheese, pastries, coffee... really nice and pleasant. Thanks Gaetano! :)

Book this place!! We weren’t expecting much because it was an affordable hotel and we were only staying for one night. But wow! From the moment we arrived, we already knew this would be the best hotel we stayed at during our entire Italian vacation (and we stayed at 3-4 star hotels across the country). The staff were incredible! They drew us a map to everything we wanted (markets for specific items we wanted, best restaurants, etc), they have a short cut that gets you to the archeological site with a 5 minute walk and gets you to the main restaurant strip in 3 minutes. Perfect location, perfect service. They even went above and beyond: when we were just sitting on the patio, the concierge came out with lemon waters on a silver tray (totally out of his way and totally free). We were leaving too early to attend breakfast, so they packed us a fresh breakfast and woke up early to see us off. They are the best.

We had a standard room, which was excellent, very clean, with a very comfortable bed. The hotel was a 15 min walk from the main train station when we arrived from Naples. It was a short 5 min walk to a smaller station for our onward journey to Amalfi, which took about an hour and a half. The hotel is superbly located for the Pompei ruins a 10 min walk. (a bit of advice, dont buy your audio tour from one of the street sales shops, as they were large, hand held and did not cover all the locations at the site). We were ideally located for Pompei centre, with loads of inexpensive places to eat. The hotel is family run and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner booked us a trip up Vesuvius and were picked up from the hotel. For a very comfortable, friendly, superbly located, value for money hotel in Pompei The Grand Hotel Royal is the place to stay.

There was nothing I did not like about the hotel.

We got first class service from the hotel. They helped us to get tickets to Vesuvius group transfer with very short notice and they even organized a snack for us before leaving. This was very warm hearted experience and the hotel room was very nice and clean. It was short walking distance to the city center and restaurants. In addition, the breakfast buffet was great start for the day full of tourist activities. Thanks for the all the hospitality!

A Family run hotel very close to transport links tp Pompei, Nalpes Sorento and Herculeum. The Hotel staff were very helpful with info for getting around. do that up Ottaviano's Offer for a guided tour, we had a great day touring around the Amalfi coast finishing with a meal
