The overall aspect of the hotel, the decoration, the details inside and outside are very well thought of. The view from the rooms is breathtaking, the bathrooms are very clean. The hotel looks newly refurbished with very good taste. The location was very convenient as the bus stop is right outside the hotel. The breakfast was indeed continental, with fresh fruits from the garden. They were thoughtful enough to provide us with mosquito repellent in the room. The staff was very friendly and approachable but yet very professional.

The fact that our room was on the second floor but there was no elevator (although they help with carrying the bags upstairs). There was no kettle inside the room for tea or coffee. The rooms rates are a bit pricey.

The view was spectacular and we sat at the tables close to the view to enjoy it to the fullest! Rooms were good sized with modern bathrooms and everything was very clean. The breakfast buffet was copious with lots of choices. Dinner at the restaurant was fresh and delicious. The staff were quite friendly and could speak multiple languages. Parking was free!

The only thing we didn't like was that the hotel is on the main coastal road and up until about 10pm, there were loud cars and motorcycles going by which made conversation difficult when sitting at the restaurant. It's the only road that goes from town to town so there is nothing that the hotel could do about it. The views more than made up for the intermittant noise!

Very nice place in good location. Walking distance to bus stops & marina di Praia. Pasquale & staff were amazing and good was very good as well. Staff was so nice & friendly and love what they do. You will like Praiano as it is much quieter and way better value that Amalfi or Positano. Next time would wait until late Sept or October when things slow down and cool off a bit

Stayed here 4 nites and really enjoyed it. Great ac mini splits in each room. Loved all the colorful tiles on floors. Well maintained. Icon should be smiling...we were! Couldn't edit icon for some reason. Thank you Pasquale & staff!

Open gate is in an area of the Amalfi Coast that is not filled with tourists. It is a family run hotel, and has been in the family for 55 years. Pasquale , Stephania and the entire family made you feel like you were family. The food in their restaurant was delicious and breakfast was included in your stay. They were very helpful with advice to get around the coast

Just needed a little more storage in the rooms

The rooms were beautiful and the view was even more amazing! The bus location was right outside the door and was the perfect for reaching Positano. The staff were incredible and were so helpful with parking our car, serving a beautiful breakfast and chatting to us at dinner. We would definitely recommended staying here!

Nothing at all ! We could have used more light in the bathroom but that was so minor.

This hotel was amazing. Small, welcoming, personal and very well thought out. The staff was helpful at every turn, greeting us each day asking what coffee or tea they could make us. The breakfast was extensive and delicious. Dinner was excellent as well and it was so nice being able to eat right there in the hotel. They also made me the best Aperol Spritz I had during our entire 3 weeks in Italy. It was perfect to have sitting on our balcony enjoying the view! Additionally, just down the road is a mini-mart where you can buy bus tickets and other food items to enjoy. There was a nice fridge in the room to store drinks. It was perfect.

The Open Gate Hotel exceeded my expectations in several ways. Firstly, the room I stayed in was impeccably clean and well-lit, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and always ready to assist, making me feel welcome throughout my stay. The highlight of my visit, though, was undoubtedly the breathtaking view from the hotel. The scenic beauty added a magical touch to the entire experience. The availability of parking space was a significant convenience for me, especially because I had rented a car for my trip along the picturesque Amalfi coast. Parking can be quite a challenge in this region, so having it provided by the hotel was a huge plus. Another notable advantage of the Open Gate Hotel is its proximity to a bus stop, allowing for easy access to destinations like Positano. This convenience made exploring the area hassle-free.

To be honest there's nothing to complain about.

The view/patio was spectacular. Loved the breakfasts and the staff were super kind, patient, and helpful. Location is right in front of where the local bus picks up, and just a 3 minute walk to the regional bus stop. OG is on the main road between Positano and Amalfi

So it is on the main road so it can be really noisy, and being in Praiano, there is nothing around the hotel. The beach is a 15 minute walk (which is fine, but be warned, lots of stairs everywhere and in the heat, it is exhausting), the "store" is about 10 minute walk, there are restaurants on the upper streets, which require another 15 minute walk straight up. The bus arrives once an hour, and there are no taxis. It isn't the hotel's fault, just letting you know, you will do a lot of walking up and down stairs, but that's generally all hotels in this area. In spite of being in Praiano, in July, I felt the price was more than it should have been (hence the 4/5 on value).

A stunning view of the Amalfi coastline from the room and breakfast terrace. The staff are so welcoming and Hotel's restaurant was located directly opposite perched on the coastline, serving delicious pasta, seafood and daily specials. So convenient and great value, we ate there every night, after our day trips. The staff went out of there way to assist us in our planning and helped us when we had the disaster of luggage being lost at the airport for 3 days!

There is nothing really - just be aware that the coastline is busy and pack your walking shoes and bathers!

We really loved how nice and clean it was. Food is amazing (especially during dinner time with the view and the sunset). Totally recommended. It is close to the Praiano beach which is beautiful and can definitely compete to nearby trends such as the Fiordo di Furore (less crowded as well).

We stayed here as a good in between to travel to Amalfi and Positano, and found it to be quite good option if you want to save some money while not compromising on the comfort and beauty.
