We book this hotel as it has offered 40% summer discount so we ended up at 135EUR per night with breakfast included. This is a classic old style hotel with a great bar/restaurant at terrasse (operates separately from the hotel and should be reserved separately). We got a small renovated room facing the city. Room is clean, simple with spacious bathroom. The biggest advantage of the hotel is it's location in an old city center near Vatican (10min to a metro station). Polite and helpful reception. Air conditioning worked well, good isolation from the street noise. Hotel provides cleaning of the room with fresh towels supply every day.

Unfortunately our room was in front of the elevator (it operates silently but you can hear people taking it or walking the stairs) and right next to a small stockroom where cleaning service stores and uses supplies. It was very annoying to hear every morning endless operation activities of the cleaning service taking supplies from this stockroom back and forth starting from 8am. The room number was 308, if you don't like noise - try to avoid this room.

Very convenient location for tourists- close to a metro station, 10 minutes from the Vatican and 15 from the major tourist sites. The restaurant has fantastic views and has a first rate menu and wine list- we ate there on the 1st night for convenience and rebooked for our last night. The sommelier offered very good advice and the waiting staff were very efficient. Great food- Turbot and scallops were stand out dishes Room was air- conditioned, small but well maintained. Concierge service and transport to the airport were very efficient. If you can get in, the roof- top bar is a very good setting for pre- dinner drinks.

The host at the roof top bar on our first night was very abrupt and almost turned us away, being very reluctant to allow us to enter- it’s the 1st time I’ve had such difficulty at a bar in a hotel where I am a resident! Only a promise of a 30 minute stay pre- dinner stay allowed him to relent and offer us one of the many empty ( but apparently pre booked) tables Advice- prebook if you wish to use the bar

We stayed at the Atlante Star to mark a significant wedding anniversary. We let the hotel know in advance and they very kindly gave us a room upgrade and complimentary welcome drinks on the rooftop terrace. The hotel's location is fabulous for the Vatican, for local buses, is a 5 min walk to the metro station for trains to Termini, where you can connect to the airports, and is 2 min walk from Borgo Pia, a pedestrianised street with many good trattorie. The roof terrace has fabulous views of St Peter's and the city, although drinks there are quite expensive. The hotel's buffet-style breakfast was really delicious and all the staff are very attentive. Our room was a little dark but that, plus the massive bed and extremely comfortable mattress, meant restful nights. On check-out, we took the hotel's airport transfer which was competitively priced and efficient.

The location is excellent. Close to Vatican City and still walking distance to Roma centre (more than 15min walk). We had a suite 302/303 and it was great size, very comfy bed and great shower. The room windows were towards the courtyard so not much of a view, however, we didn’t book the views. Hotel in generally quiet area therefore very quiet at night. Hotel has terrace where one can enjoy the views while enjoying some food or drinks (pricey though!). The breakfast restaurant (ground 6) has amazing views and excelled spread of fresh foods and juices on top of usual selections.

To get to the reception you have to get up some steps and it is a task with heavier suitcases. The staff are available to help. One of the lifts was out of order so everyone are using just one to go up and down, so allow extra time when leaving. Of course, you can use stairs. We were on floor 3, but after getting out of the lift we still had to go down some steps to reach our floor. The door to the room was a bit flimsy and would rattle from any gust of wind, so we put a chair against it to have a peaceful sleep. Also, the only place to iron was downstairs in the lobby area where other guests might be sitting - this we found very odd especially for a 4 star hotel! There is no kettle in the room.

Bed was very comfortable. The restaurant and roof terrace were exceptional and the main feature of the hotel. Bathroom was fine with good shower. Housekeeping very good. The other main positive was the excellent location in an area with many restaurants and bars and a short distance to Vatican sites.

Room was much smaller than expected, one bedside light faulty. Wardrobe okay but mix of leftover hangers doesn't fit with a 4 star hotel. Overall a basic room for a relatively high price. One lift out of order and the other very slow.

The room was comfortable, the bed was comfortable and there was good air conditioning. The decoration was old fashioned but we liked that. The location is really good: close to the Vatican, close to the river, and there is good shopping nearby. There are great restaurants within a few minutes stroll and they are away from the crowded centre of Rome. You can walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain and the Pantheon through some attractive streets. The Vatican is ten minutes at most on foot. The lift was as unreliable as others have commented but it didn't matter to us. The breakfast was better than we anticipated and the view from the dining room is amazing. The room cleaning and preparation was of a high standard every day and the hotel staff we met were friendly, helpful and welcoming. It's quirky and old fashioned layout was strangely appealing. The roof terrace was a bit too expensive and we didn't really use it but it has a nice feel and great views.

The roof top terrace and bar area views were fabulous, 360 degree view over Rome. All the staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful from the reception area, the restaurant staff at breakfast to the cleaning staff . Breakfast was good, the room and all areas of the hotel were kept immaculately. Location was excellent within easy walking distance of St Peter’s Square, Castel San Angelo (well worth a visit) and a footway bridge over the Tiber to other attractions. Huge choice of restaurants nearby and several gelatos.

Our room wasn’t the largest but perfectly adequate and the view from the terrace more than made up for the size.

The location is amazing. It is just a few blocks (10 minutes walk) away from St. Peter’s, one block away from several good restaurants, in a quiet area. The view overlooking Rome, and St. Peter’s was a beautiful way to start each morning for breakfast, which was also extensive. Lots of good and healthy breakfast options, along with cakes etc.

Location of the property is excellent for Vatican but is a little out from main tourist activities. Hotel is well maintained and staff are efficient. Roof top terrace is a highlight with a stunning view of the Vatican and surrounding area. Our room was cleaned each day and to a high standard. Highly recommend a stay here.

Prices of food/drinks/coffee in roof top bar are expensive.

Our room was extremely small and very, very dark and outdated. Some may say that this is the style but for such a small room it should be brighter with it so heavy materials and wallpaper. Also, two glasses of wine on the terrace £26 is ridiculous especially as we were hotel guests and anyone could use the terrace. The breakfast didn’t live up to hotel’s reputation.
