The Blue Hostel was perfect for our needs. A 10-15 minute walk to the Colosseum, 5 minutes from Termini Station, and a 5 minute walk to the nearest Metro stop. There is a supermarket across the road, and a laundrette next door (8 Euros for a bag of clothes to be washed and dried in 3 hours). Our room was spotless and we appreciated the mini-fridge and coffee-machine. The decor was really nice and bed was a great size. Ercole, Alessandro and the team were really friendly and helpful. Ercole hleped us with our luggage when we arrived and gave us lots of helpful information and tips. One morning our air-conditioning unit started to leak and they fixed it straightaway. When we checked out, we were able to leave our luggage until our train in the afternoon. If we were to return to Rome we would definitely consider staying at the Blue Hostel again!

We did struggle to find the Blue Hostel the first time (I think because we were hot and tired!) - for future visitors, it is the unmarked brown door next to the souvenir shop. There is a small blue plaque with the Blue Hostel name on but you may not spot it straightaway! The Hostel is in an old building - there is no lift and several flights of stairs. This wasn't a problem for us (after walking 35,000+ steps around Rome each day, 3 flights of stairs is a breeze!), but if you have limited mobility or struggle with fitness it may be something to consider.

My stay at the Bluehotel in Rome was fantastic! The quality of the place is outstanding, with immaculate cleanliness and an easily accessible location that made exploring the city a breeze. The hospitality provided by Alessandro and Ercole made the experience even more welcoming and special. Their attention to detail and warm service truly set this hotel apart. I highly recommend staying here, and I will definitely return on my next visit to Rome!

The only thing I didn't like was having to leave because my vacation came to an end. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Such a cute space! Cozy and very Italian...an immersive experience in great ways!

Just a note for others that this was a 4 floor walk-up. They took care of my bags, but it's a schlep up the stairs after a full day of walking. Was fine, and authentic, but just keep it in mind. Also, couldn't shake a mild sewer gas smell. Much of Rome smells that way, but was a little annoying. Fortunately A/C and open windows helped a lot. And they did their best to keep it fresh in there. Buildings that are hundreds of years old don't have new US plumbing!

Alessandro was in touch before we arrived to confirm check in times and to meet us. He greeted us at the property, gave us our keys with a little guide of things to do/places to eat in Rome. He also very kindly let us borrow an adaptor as we brought the wrong one and brought a couple of beers. The property was lovely, very clean, tidy and bed was comfy in an overall beautiful building. Great location, around 5-10 minutes from the central train station and 10 minutes to the colosseum. We walked everywhere whilst in Rome, the furthest journey was the Vatican City which was around 1 hour to walk but easily broken up by walking via the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and various restaurants and cafes.

Nothing :)

Fantastic place, can really recommend it! Without our hosts at Bluehostel, our trip to Rome would not have been the same. Great recommendations for everything, food, monuments etc. We can also recommend to do the private guided tour at the Colosseum together with Manuele. It was one of the highlights during our stay. If we are going back to Rome, Bluehostel will for sure be our choice of hotel.

The staff is so friendly and helpful! The location is very convenient, very close to the Termini (train and bus stations), just next to the big church Santa Maria Maggiore, and the forum is within walking distance. The best is that the hostel will give you a map with food recommendations of their own. The staff will particularly circle out the best of the best restaurants, bars, cafes etc., all favorites of the locals with extremely good taste and super good prices. We tried some of them and they were absolutely incredible! We really enjoyed our stay!

Very central, less than 5 minutes walk from the main train station. Easy to walk to lots of the interesting landmarks or to take public transport.

There was no lift to get to the room on the 3rd floor.

The host Alessandro was fabulous. The hostel is room only but has some tea and coffee for when you wake up if you can't wait for breakfast at one of the local cafes Alessandro recommends, and his recommendations are spot on! Ask him for the places the locals go to eat ;-) The central train and bus station is a ten minute walk away and you can get a bus or metro to almost anywhere you want to. If you are in a hurry... If you don't want to walk... (or if its too hot, which is fair in the summer months ;-) The weather was nice and we walked from the hostel to the Colosseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, (not on the same day!) all within strolling distance. What else do you do when Rome is on your doorstep?

There was nothing really not to like. There is no elevator and its a couple of fights of stairs up to the room but nothing that the old(er) couple on the same floor complained about ;-) Had a problem with the Uber when we were leaving which left us a little tight on time for our flight but Alessandro sorted it out and we made it with a little time to spare which we really appreciated.

The communication was excellent. Beds were comfortable. Air con was great for the warmer nights and the mini fridge and coffee machine were a great addition to the room. Room was a good size for three people. I was nervous after seeing comments about small showers but the shower was great! For the price we paid, the facilities were great and the location was perfect for wandering to most of the sights in Rome. Would definitely stay here again!

Our only comment was that it would be good to provide a kettle for tea drinkers however this was easily solved by knowing in advance that this wasn’t provided so we just brought our own! No complaints really.

The room was in a very nice area of Rome, within walking distance to everything. We even walked to Vatican City, which took us 50 minutes because the city is just so pretty. There is a metro station, Termini, just 3 minutes away if you don't like to walk much. 😊 There is a nice restaurant downstairs at the corner of the street, but mostly we walked until we found a small hidden restaurant with a good vibe and culinary enjoyment. The owners were amazing and super helpful, recommending restaurants and offering advice whenever we needed it. We would go back anytime!
