It was the best breakfast we’ve ever had. They offered a variety of options in the hot breakfast, beyond the usual bacon, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Many types of croissants, fries vegies, breads, cheese, fruits etc. The staff was super friendly. They even packed us a take away breakfast when we left early in the morning. The location is very central and there is a bus stop right in front of the door. There are a couple more bus stops and a team stop 3-4 mins walking distance. Central station (Termini) is 8 mins walking distance. It's also possible to walk many attractions like Colosseum, Trevi fountain, etc.

The room was of average size. The bathroom was pretty old. The shower was very difficult to operate. It also smelled bad in the room if we kept the bathroom door open. The duvets were very old and were wrapped between bedsheets, difficult to use. Either too hot or too cold. I expected more from the room when booking a 4 star property.

During our recent stay near Rome Termini, we discovered a delightful hotel that truly exceeded our expectations. We stayed on the 5th floor in a room boasting a breathtaking view of a basilica—a sight that made our stay feel very special and definitely worth the money. The hotel's location is incredibly strategic. You can easily explore Rome on foot: the Colosseum is just a 20-minute walk away, Trevi Fountain is similarly accessible, and you can reach the Vatican within an hour. Plus, the surrounding area is vibrant with plenty of good restaurants, charming coffee shops, and even a supermarket for any quick needs. Breakfast was a highlight every morning. With a wide selection of options, excellent Italian coffee, and an amazing view from the terrace, it set a perfect tone for the day. Having visited Rome three times, I can confidently say that this hotel offers exceptional value for what you pay. While the room wasn’t perfect, it carried a lovely old-world charm—a vibe that resonated with the elegant spirit of the Italian people. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would gladly recommend to anyone planning a trip to Rome.

This hotel was perfect for a quick stay. Very close to Termini/easily accessible to/from the airport. Many bars/cafés/restaurants nearby and the close proximity to Monti neighbourhood is great for a less touristed experience. Wi-Fi was consistently good, service at breakfast was very friendly/welcoming and it was also lovely to be so close to via Marulana/via Labicana. I would consider the room/bathroom spacious by downtown standards and of course, the rooftop/view of Santa Maria Maggiore was lovely. Staff was very hospitable and accommodating. Was very grateful they stored my bags without any issue. Bathrooms in the lobby are huge so when it was time for me to leave the hotel and get on the train for a late afternoon departure, it was very easy to change and freshen up in the absence of having my own room still available.

Honestly, nothing— the hotel is obviously a bit dated but I think it’s part of the charm. One would be hard-pressed to find a better option so close to Termini and I would confidently argue a better option does not exist.

Excellent front desk, open 24/7. Excellent location, extensive variety of included breakfast on rooftop terrace (wasn't explicit on booking.com). We had beautiful view of basilica. Good windows , couldn't hear traffic below. Great blackout blinds. Big bathroom!

Location was excellent for seeing all the famous historic sites within walking distance. We loved the view from our extremely comfortable room (quite spacious for Rome) over the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore - absolutely stunning at night and in the dawn with the pink reflection on the monument/statue in the square. Spend the extra money and get the Room with a View. The hotel oozed traditional style and comfort. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Easy access to room via a good sized lift. Very secure storage of our luggage (all tag identified) free of charge after check out as we had a late night flight. Good food and service at the in-house dining room near foyer. Beautiful view from the rooftop where the buffet breakfast is served. We didn't dine at the evening rooftop restaurant but the view was amazing at night as well. The foyer staff warned us when there was a suspect pickpocket lurking about which was very much appreciated. But that is Rome - never leave anything unattended and watch each other's backs. Highly recommend this hotel and would stay again if in Rome.

The only thing that could be improved upon is the cereal options at the breakfast buffet. I would have liked some Bircher muesli and not just the dry cereal options. But that is just a very small thing outweighed by all the other splendid things.

I recently stayed at the Mecenate Palace Hotel in Rome and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The hotel is ideally located, just steps from the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and within walking distance of many key attractions like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. It’s also close to Termini Station, which made traveling around the city very convenient. The staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a charming, classic décor that made it feel very Roman. One of the highlights was the rooftop terrace — the views over Rome were breathtaking, especially at sunset. We had breakfast there every morning, and the variety and quality of the food were excellent.

The hotel was super clean and the air conditioning work very well. Our room was rather large and the temperature was always cool to very cold. I really love the roof top bar and restaurant and the waiter up there are the best! The manger Jon did not disappoint as he upgraded our rooms to a suite. Jon was so welcoming and treated us very special. As a matter of fact all the staff was professional and friendly. We will stay in Rome for another day when we return from our cruise and we will definitely be staying there again. Thank you Mecenate Palace for your outstanding hospitality.

Everything about this hotel was perfect.

The location is wonderful. Very close to many great places to sight-see and visit. Lots of shops, historic sites, and restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful views of Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major from the rooftop restaurant and bar! The room was very comfortable and clean! While the decor in the rooms is a little outdated and maybe could use some updating, it is also what adds to the old-world charm of this hotel. The breakfast included with our stay was delicious and had many options. Staff at the front desk was always pleasant and helpful!

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Location at the heart of the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, and our room was literally facing the facade of this magnificent church. The complimentary breakfast was amazing as well with variety of sumptuous Italian cuisines. It is also very close to the Roma Termini where we were able to visit other cities through the speed train. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back to stay on our next vacation. Thank you for all the wonderful staff! Keep up the excellent job!
