Great property, very well located in the historical center and Stefano is one of the most hospitable hosts we have ever met. The breakfast was perfect, on the sunny rooftop terrace. Highly reccomended.

This little pensione is embedded deep in the tiny streets of old Ortigia, literally in an alley that you can't access by car. We drove as close as we could, Largo Aretusa, and called the hotel to ask how to reach them, and they told us to wait there and they'd come to us! Minutes later Antonio appeared and took our suitcases and gave us a map to the parking garage we had reserved, and we continued around the island and eventually found the garage with its minute entrance! We paid the requisite charge for three nights and set off through the little streets with our hand luggage: it turned out to be a twenty-minute walk back to the pensione! We were glad to finally find it but amazed at the narrow alley it was hidden away in. But there was Antonio, and our luggage was in our room!!! Great service - we just had to get used to the height and narrowness of the building - we were on the 4th floor and luckily the elevator always worked! The fourth floor was in fact the closest access to breakfast up on the roof terrace - via a somewhat perilous metal spiral staircase! Our room was remarkably spacious for such a tiny building, with a pretty ceiling and a kitchenette next to the bed with a refrigerator and sink. Two tall windows looked out over the alley and you felt you could reach out and touch the wall opposite, except for the screens thoughtfully installed in the windows. It was only from the roof that you could look over and view the alley far below, and the chairs and tables in front of the restaurant a few doors away. The pensione is run by a family, including Stefano and his wife and sister and father! They were all lovely and helpful, especially Stefano who went out of his way to recommend restaurants and reserve a table for us, and Antonio who told us with great fervor all about the procession of Santa Lucia, that we would certainly have missed otherwise.

The only very small complaint was about breakfast! It had to be ordered ahead, every single item, and a time booked for the sittings at half-hour intervals between 8 and 9.30am. Apparently this system saves the waste of food that you get with a buffet, and allows everyone to be accommodated in the small (but comfortable) terrace area. I have a personal preference for fresh fruit with some cereal at breakfast, and not bread/pastries, and of all the hotels on our trip this one had no seasonal fruit except on Sunday when we got a few strawberries. They did however have a vast selection of homemade jams that seemed very popular, and the service was great.

Stefano and his family are the best! He made all of our dinner reservations and we had outstanding meals at each one, which were not typical tourist places. Stefano helped with everything, including dealing with our garage reservation for our car. Breakfasts up on the rooftop overlooking the sea were individually made and were delicious—yogurts and croissants and breads and eggs with bacon and jams made by his father, all kinds of coffees and teas. His parents and wife and family are there to help with everything—it is a lovely family affair. Our room was spotlessly cleaned every day, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. This is a gem of a B&B, in the heart of Ortigia, but very peaceful, on a street with little traffic. You will not be disappointed!

We liked everything!

We had a really nice time here! The location is super in a narrow street in the old town with a lot of nice restaurants in the area. We got good information about how to get there, parking. We arrived late, but that was no problem since we for all the information we needed to check in by ourselves. The room was clean and spacious in an authentic style. The next day we got to meet the friendly and helpful family who runs this place. We got tips about where to go and what to see from Stephano. The puppet show, beach etc. The breakfast is amazing! It is served at the rooftop terrace with a beautiful view. You decide in advance what to have; Fresh juice, coffees, bread with delicious home made jam (so many different tastes - all delicious!), croissants. When our daughter had her 7th birthday, they came with song, cake and a present as a surprise. And here little brother also got a small surprise. The whole family of hosts really see their guest and make such a nice atmosphere. We would love to come back!

We had an absolutely amazing stay in Aretusa Vacanze B&B in Siracusa and can only recommend it. From the beginning until the end of our stay, everything went smoothly and without any problems. Everyone is very friendly, welcoming and helpful. On the first day, Stefano wrote us a note with a variety of recommendations, including restaurants and beaches. It has always been a pleasure to chat with him as well as with the other family members. It is very clear that they want to make their guests feel comfortable and to enjoy their holiday to the fullest. Also, before arriving to Sicily the communication via the online chat on Booking was very fast and reliable. The breakfast was just amazing. Everything was fresh and delicious, and on top of that it‘s been taking place on the rooftop of the accomodation, so we could always enjoy the view during breakfast. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. It was cleaned daily. The location of the accomodation is also just perfect, very close to the beach and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Overall, all we can say is thank you to the whole team of Aretusa Vacanze B&B. We had a very relaxing time in Siracusa :) Absolute recommendation !!!

The location is great, close to everything in Ortigia, the room was spacious, the hosts friendly, and the breakfast is served on a charming balcony on the roof (where it can be quite warm during the hot season...).

You get breakfast based on a list of choices you make the day before, but sometimes what you get is not what you think you will get. For example, I asked for a fresh orange juice and I got a small glass of orange pulp that was like a paste that could be eaten with a spoon, but whose taste was quite bad. The eggs and pancetta means only a thin tiny slice of fried ham and 1-2 scrambled eggs somehow undercooked and not very inviting. The breakfast small bread was not fresh as the owner kept insisting. The croissant and fruit preserves (an impressive variety of them) were great though (if they also washed the preserve jars on the outside a bit it would be even better).

Truly unbeatable location (3 excellent snorkeling spots, churches, ancient ruins, excellent restaurants all around some corner) run by 3 generations of the same warm family. What an authentic experience and at a very high standard (perfectly working air conditioning even in the hottest weather + with all accompanying kitchenette appliances). We were a large group occupying 4 rooms of different sizes, and everything in the rooms worked perfectly. All 10 of us enjoyed the stay (including our 70+ year old parents) especially the amazing breakfast served at the table. An authentic experience in the very heart of Ortigia. A special shout out to Stefano who puts out his heart and loads of pride in his work.

Arethusa Vacanze B&B is a family-run property with an amazing sense of customer service and graciousness. The breakfast was ample, the apartment clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a kitchen and two bedrooms. They booked a private parking spot in the ZTL for us which was just a 10-minute walk from the property. Stefano was very helpful in recommending and booking a table at La Pigna. The risotto and lobster spaghetti there was fantastic. Would not hesitate to book again.

Beautiful, clean, efficiently run by a wonderful host family. They looked after myself and my 81 year old mother so well. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was super clean and well equipped (prepare yourself for a little noise from the alleyway - a small price to pay for a super central location - and also part of the charm of the bustle). Great kitchenette and modern bathroom, super comfy beds. Gorgeous breakfast on the roof terrace every day. Great that they had a lift - especially useful for my mum. We would definitely recommend this marvellous place and will be back!

Stefano and his family were all super nice, friendly and helpful! They helped arrange car park and I liked that we had our own entrance to our room (with no stairs to access although there were stairs inside to get up to the bedrooms). Loved having bathrooms on both levels. Great location in the thick of things and everything is really walking distance. The rooftop breakfast was the most extensive and custom (Stefano went to the market for us the second morning after he learned our daughter was allergic to sesame to make sure he got bread she could eat!) He also arranged a private boat tour of the sea caves with for us with Dolci Escursioni and it was so fun, the water refreshing and the caves were beautiful!! It was a wonderful stay in Ortigia, thanks Stefano and family!
