• The bus (no. 105) stops right outside, and I recommend getting a multi-day pass. However, the bus schedule was a bit unpredictable – though of course, this is not the hotel’s fault.

An absolutely fantastic welcome from Sabrina and Claudia - their hotel is lovely; the views are spectacular; the welcome is warm. The home-made breakfasts are very tasty. The room is very spacious and you'll have the chance to walk straight into the sea from the back of the hotel for a morning/evening dip. The very best customer service - and just 1 example whilst we were there - I doubt there are many other hotels where if you spotted in nearby town by the owners they give you a lift home so you don't need to get a taxi or bus.

We only wish we could have stayed longer - we will head back in the future for certain

It is in the most beautiful spot - absolutely stunning view. The ladies were so obliging and lovely. The breakfast was always delicious with lots of home made cakes and a selection of fruits, cheeses, salamis, breads. When we arrived in the evening, they had made us a delicious anti pasta selection - so thoughtful. The whole building is kept immaculately clean. It was lovely to bathe in the sea from the rocks and swim with the fishes. In all, it was gorgeous and we had a lovely relaxing time.

If I had to find something, the bed was a bit firm but my husband does need new hips so was bound to be a little sensitive.

We loved the stunning sea view room with hand painted tiles on the floor. Lots of space, fantastic bathroom. Comfy bed with lovely linen. Wonderful welcome and delicious homemade breakfast on the balcony. Reception so helpful with amazing restaurant recommendations and booking trains etc. The owners are true professionals who provide genuine hospitality we will come back one day :) My husband loved swimming every morning straight from the hotel who provided beach towels and beach shoes, thank you for a wonderful stay.

We loved everything and the location is stunning however I wished the walk into Ortigia was just five minutes shorter as I’m over 65. It was easy and accessible but when going in and out it felt longer. The owner of the property so kind and even gave us a lift in one night! There is a bus and taxi but we enjoy walking when we can. On the plus side it was nice to be away from the Ortigia bustle and right on the water.

We booked Giuggiulena on the basis of all the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. The owners, Sabrina and Claudia were lovely, very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are large, with balconies that gave stunning views across the sea. Breakfasts are superb, with lots of variety to cater to all tastes. We took advantage of Sabrina and Claudia’s offer to cook a late lunch for us which was delicious. The hotel has its own entrance to the sea where you can swim from the rocks in the crystal-clear waters. We’d recommend Giuggiulena to our friends without any hesitation.

Some may see the 25-minute walk to restaurants in Ortigia as a negative, but it’s an easy walk down and if you don’t fancy the walk back there’s a cheap and reliable bus service that drops you off almost at the front door of the hotel.

We spent 3 days in Giuggiulena and I have to say it was incredible experience.Location just right by the sea was breathtaking,we were falling asleep and waking up with the sound of the sea.Giuggulena is very clean,calm place with beautiful interior decoration.It's located a short distance from restaurants,shops, etc.Breakfast was delicious and varied,coffee excellent.They have cosy terrace where you can relax,sunbathe or drink something refreshing.If you are food lover don't miss a dinner preparing on some days by lovely lady(I've forgotten her the name,but I send her a big hug).A dog and 2 sweet cats boost the warm , homely atmosphere,they are well-behaved ,if someone doesn't like animals won't have any problem with it.And last but not least ,the vibe of this place is created by wonderful women who do their work with a heart.

To short stay

We chose this place for its breathtaking waterfront location. Waking up to the sunrise and the sound of ocean waves from our room was a true highlight, and hearing the soothing sea sounds as we opened the door was magical. Enjoying breakfast on the balcony each morning felt like a dream come true. We also loved the direct water access and the convenience of the provided water shoes. Both hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Just a heads-up: parking is available in a garage for an extra daily fee.

The walk to Ortigia takes about 30 minutes. It takes around 20 minutes to reach the bridge, but you’ll need to walk further into town to get to the restaurants. My sister and I didn’t mind the walk, but it's worth noting, especially on very hot days.

Everything was wonderful! The location overlooking the sea, watching its waves and tides of every shade of blue. Having a private terrace to it all, falling asleep to the sound of the sea. Eating a delicious homemade breakfast - salty and sweet - out on the breakfast room terrace( blueberry ricotta cheese cake and lemon bread were my favorites, along with the fresh fruit, including melon). Sun terrace on the roof with chaise lounges, tables and chairs, and an honor bar. You can snorkel right from the bottom of the b&b- water shoes, masks and fins available- or just swim or float. And a lift to all floors except the roof. Parking for a small fee right across the street. But best of all were the hosts, Claudia and Sabrina. They are kind, helpful, charming - all you could ask for and more. Even before we booked, we had questions and the responses were detailed and informative. If you are reading this, you have found a hidden gem in Sicily: Giuggiulena!

Nothing- great as is.

It was a really hidden gem perched right on the sea. A bit cold for us to get in but braver souks would love it Water shoes supplied . Our host sisters went over and beyond our expectations including a birthday cake ! Breakfast great. Claudia’s home cooked meal for us Perfecto !!

For me a 70 year old recovering from cancer treatment it was a bit outside the historic centre but we still did it in 20 mins .buses back were fairly reliable .

This property occupies a dramatic site directly on the sea, not far from Ortigia. If you have a rental car, the convenient parking makes it preferable to staying in the old city. We found the best way to visit Neapolis and the old city to be by taxi, which our hosts arranged for us. The rooms were spacious, and included a private sun deck accessed by spiral staircase. The rooms included breakfast, but we also highly recommend eating other meals in the property's restaurant, where the cook is excellent (baking fresh cakes every day). It's a comfortable and friendly place to stay.
