The location is excellent: just a very short walk from the lake (we could even see it from our balcony). There are restaurants a short walk away, a large supermarket, corner stores, a beautiful Art Noveau café to have a coffee and pastry in front of the lake and buses to take you further if you wish. This is a simple, no-frills accommodation - there’s no pool or late-night dining - but don’t let that put you off. The price reflects this, which is great considering how expensive hotels around Lake Garda can be. It’s such great value. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the owners, Laura and Sergio, truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They're incredibly helpful and accommodating, especially when it comes to getting around Lake Garda. Laura even gave us a map of the Lake and printed train times for our day trip to Venice. As someone with celiac disease, I really appreciated the thoughtful care they took with my dietary needs. Sergio also has celiac disease, so he understands it well - I believe he even shared some of his own gluten-free breakfast items with me. There’s also a small bar on-site if you’d like a drink in the evening or a coffee. Overall, Laura and Sergio are warm, friendly, genuinely kind hosts who make your stay feel special. This isn't really a ‘dislike’ but something to know: as the owners live on the property - returning before midnight is preferred as they wait to lock up.

Older family hotel, but clean and comfortable. Sergio and Laura were amazing, they were for us at any time we want them and they spoke very good english and German. It’s about 1 hour walk to the historic centre of Sirmione. Around the hotel are great restaurants, bars, bakery and large supermarket. Parking place is little bit small, but there was a lot of free parking places around the hotel.

There is no fridge in the hotel room, but we solved this problem with car fridge.

I loved the quiet; it was not crowded with tourists. The proprietors, a husband and wife, were so gracious and helpful; they made me feel like I was home. It is across the street from Lake Garda which was stunningly beautiful. It was an authentic experience not one created for tourists. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and wish I could have stayed longer. It was the relaxing respite I needed.

Hotel Derby is a family-run hotel in Lugana (part of Sirmione). It is very well maintained, the rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day. The breakfast was very good. The hotel car park has only 8 parking lots but there is a free public parking opposite the hotel on the other side of the street. The owners Laura and Sergio are very nice people, always smiling and very helpful. During our stay there was a heavy hailstorm that damaged all the cars (front and rear windscreens broken on all the cars in the region). After the hailstorm ended Sergio covered all the cars with plastic foils to prevent other damages. We had tickets to opera in Verona (35 km from Sirmione) and our car was unusable. Sergio offered to pick us up after the opera ends (after midnight) and drive us back to the hotel. Laura and Sergio are definitely the kindest and the most helpful hosts we have ever met. Thank you, Laura and Sergio !

We stayed at Hotel Derby for 5 nights and we would highly recommend it. It’s a 45 minute walk to old town Sirmione which is very scenic. A shuttle bus is also accessible to the old town. Laura and Sergio are the most amazing hosts. They welcomed us so warmly into their family hotel and went above and beyond at various times throughout our stay. They were extremely helpful with regards organizing our trips (transport, timetables, ferries for the lake). We had really early starts on most days of our visit which meant we would have missed the scheduled start time of breakfast at 8am. However, Laura went out of her way to prepare breakfast early for us each of the days which was really kind. The buffet style breakfast was delicious. The cleanliness of the hotel was superb. I injured my leg on one of the days but I wasn’t able to get to a pharmacy as it was late and they were closed. Laura kindly gave me tablets that I could take to ease the pain before getting to a pharmacy the following morning. In general they made the atmosphere so personal yet relaxed and were consistent in meeting our needs and always greeted us with warm smiles. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Derby.

Everything was perfect

This is a small family business hotel, reminding of the 70's, but very well maintained. The room was very clean and comfortable, we had a balcony with lake view. Our hosts were always smiling and available, they provided with good advices. There is a small parking lot for 7 or 8 cars.

The buffet breakfast, although rich, didn't include vegetables. The hotel is near a main street, we could hear some traffic noise during the night, especially loud motorcycles.

The personal touch by the owners, Laura and Sergio, was second to none, they ensured you had everything you needed and made time to provide any information you required. They are genuine, warm and friendly people who also provide great accommodation and a really good breakfast.

Nothing

The couple who managed the hotel were both very friendly and welcoming. They were helpful in offering us guidance, for example when taking buses, hiring bikes and pointing out places to visit. Breakfast was filling and very good. Our room was spotlessly clean and we had clean towels each day.

I cannot think of anything that we didn't like at the hotel.

The owners were very nice and accommodating, felt right at home. Breakfast was just fine, after a couple days repeating, but still good. Room wes small, but nice, we had a balcony looking at the garden, road and lake. Very clean, towels and sheets changed every day, exceptional service. Would recommend to my friends.

Bed mattrases were a bit springy and not really comfy, otherwise everything was really good.

The staff were absolutely exceptional! Amazing people that made me feel at home immediately. They provided me with great recommendations and also made me breakfast early on the day of my checkout. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of lago di Garda. The Wi-Fi worked well and everything was very clean.

There was nothing that I did not like. The facility was exactly as advertised. The staff are amazing people.
