Location is excellent, you really are in the middle of everything. 10/10, no notes. The staff are excellent. They give recommendations, they clean well, they go above and beyond to make sure you have a nice stay!

The only issue with this hotel is that it does not have air con. My room had windows on two sides which helps a bit, but the street can be both smelly (seafood, smokers) and loud. So as long as you're fine with wearing ear buds, roll on. At the end of the day, you're in the middle of the city centre, and the price is super friendly. So something's gotta give. This I'm perfectly fine with,

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The hotel is very unique, the bedroom was comfortable, the bathroom was super clean, and the location is perfect (right on the city center, about 20min from the train station Trieste Centrale, and 900m away from a bath house). I can’t recommend it enough.

I have no complaints, really. They mentioned that the hotel doesn’t have air conditioner in the room, but there was a central air conditioner that kept the room in a nice temperature. If you are someone that likes to have the air conditioner cold, then maybe it won’t be as comfortable, but it was more than enough for me.

This accommodation was perfect for me! Dear host, all rooms are clean, comfortable bed, great bathroom. The whole room was like a Van Gogh painting! I loved it! The area is a little bit noisy because of the Italian culture (solve it with earplugs), but if you don't like Italian culture, go to another country. Anyway, go out in the evening and drink an Aperol, you'll sleep better. I also recommend the accommodation to women traveling alone. This is a special place to stay, I will definitely be back!

I am delighted! The hotel employee is very friendly. He provided all the information and recommended interesting places in the city. The room is clean and comfortable. Very interesting design, I want to walk around and look at the interior. Comfortable beds, antique furniture, refrigerator in the room. The hotel is located near the center, but at the same time not on a noisy street. If I visit Trieste again, I will definitely stay here!

Hotel Portacavana has character with its painted wardrobe and art. My room was a single but had everything such as tea and coffee making, small very quiet fridge, desk, wardrobe and comfortable bed. Christian provides a warm welcome and information on local events. He is very quick to respond when there are any problems. Loved the exposed beans and history of the place.

For some the flights of stairs up may be an issue and the shared bathroom but I don’t mind the exercise and everyone was considerate with their time.

Location is now the "trendy" part of town, with lots of good locals hops for food, coffee, forgotten things. The decor is sweet and old fashioned. And of course the price is right.

One side, the side I was on, opens to a noisy street. Because there is no a/c I had yo keep the windows open. I have a great pair of ear plugs and that helps. I've stayed here before so I know what it's like and I choose to stay again. However, in the middle of summer, I'd pay more for a/c

This is a unique hotel in the middle of the old town. It is delightful in its decoration, in the common areas and the room. Christian is very helpful - eg he allowed me to park my bike by Reception, though there is no proper bike place (1st Floor, no lift).

Wonderful location. Very clean room and bathroom. I was worried about possible noise coming from the back street at night - even brought ear plugs - but had no problems. Super comfortable bed. Fan kept the air cool. Christian is very kind and helpful.

I enjoyed the room, the aesthetic and architecture were a lot older which I appreciated, and there was ample space for a lone traveler and the bed was very comfortable.

The shower isn't attached to the room but I think I was the only one to use it so I never had problems waiting for someone to be done. I will say, since I went there in the winter time the shower room can get quite cold!

I traveled for a conference and I stayed at Hotel Portacavana as a practical option. This is no luxury hotel, but it was very affordable, and was comfortable and clean. Also, Christian (staff) was very helpful and kind. I would definitely consider staying there if I travel to Trieste for work and need practical accommodation.
