Wonderful location overlooking the sea. Great breakfasts on large terrace with a fantastic view. Staff (Danielle) was very friendly and accommodating. 15 minute walk to the center of town and a 10 minute walk (down many stairs) to the beach which was picturesque and great. There are a lot of restaurants in town with great food from the area. There are also many different daily excursions by boat to nearby islands including Stromboli, an active volcano.

N/A - my wife and I enjoyed everything. We are very active and don’t mind the stairs which are necessary because of the landscape of the area. Some people who aren’t very active or sporty will be physically challenged walking from the hotel to the beach but they could drive down instead. Parking and getting around in town is a challenge due to the abundance of tourists.

This little hotel is tucked away in a very quiet and tranquil area of town, about 15 minutes walk from the historic centre. It is so peaceful with a wonderful terrace looking straight out over the sea. Daniella and her colleague were very attentive in the mornings, providing excellent coffees to accompany their tasty breakfasts. Use of the pool and sunbathing terrace was a lovely bonus.

Hotel sits on an Amazing location , so happy we chose this place rather then being inside the busy town , it was peaceful with a beautiful ocean view and balcony . It’s a 5 min walk to beach front and also a short walking distance to the town. What i liked about this hotel is was the breath taking view every morning while eating delicious breakfast . They had House keeping every morning . The pool spa was also nice when you didn’t feel like walking down to the beach . Giuseppe (the owner) and his family were extremely friendly and accommodating to us as we stayed for 8 days . Would choose this hotel again if i ever go back .

The view is fantastic and the location is near the center of tropea. The staff are very accommodating.

Nice comfortable room. Breakfast was on a terrace overlooking the sea. Not too far to walk to the centre of town.

There were a lot of steps down to the beach. Our stay was spoiled by noisy and inconsiderate guests in adjacent rooms. Shouting and banging doors late at night and no staff on hand to ask them to be more considerate.

Location is good, short walk to old city. Breakfast was great, full of multiple food choices. It is situated on terace with a seaside view. Staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room was clean and tidy.

Free parking on site is just parking in the street next to hotel. Would recommend to check for alternative in case you are unable to find a spot which might be hard during high season. Other than that all was ok.

Amazing experience. La Porta del Mare was a hidden treasure. So happy to have found this amazing beautiful hotel overlooking 3 of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen! The location seems to be right in the perfect spot in Tropea.

Everything is beautiful. Especially the breakfast with a view of the sea, which makes me feel relaxed. The manager is helpful and friendly. Lovely and friendly town.

We couldn't get to the beach as we didn't know how to. It was cold in the night but we didn't have a blanket. We didn't have hair conditioner. Also we didn't see any staff until breakfast.

It was HUGE and very fun! The hot tub was an extra bonus. We were close walking distance to everything. The view was OUTSTANDING!

Some of the accommodations were a little dated. I went to use the hairdryer and it smelled like it was burning. Luckily the place had 6 showers to choose from because a couple of them were inoperable. But overall a wonderful place to stay and Guesseppi was very responsive to all our questions and needs!
