Location excellent Breakfast very good. It might be advantageous to keep the dining room open until 10am Room bright, clean, well decorated, bed comfortable, good linen and towels

We couldn’t get bbc1+2 on the tv, the kettle didn’t work and the sofa bed/sofa was tired and uncomfortable….really let an otherwise lovely room down However, housekeeping sorted the kettle out immediately with a complimentary pint, and offered for us to change our room because of the tv, which we declined as we were able to watch tv on our devices via the internet, so we were very happy with the help we received

Location was in Gunwharf which was excellent. Parking was free for 24 hours and then only a couple of pounds per night after that which for the area was fantastic as the parking is very safe and secure. The hotel itself included breakfast which was great. The staff we encountered during check in and check out were fantastic. Especially the check in staff who were very knowledgable and informative. The whole place was very clean and fresh. We had just stayed at another holiday inn in London which wasn't quite the same standard so we were pleasantly surprised. Free wifi too. Although we had trouble connecting to it. We had good phone signal so we didn't approach the reception team about this. I'm sure it would have been sorted if we had.

There were 5 plastic fingernails in the room that had been overlooked. This was sorted while we were out and we were given 2 free drinks vouchers for the issue. However when we went to get a couple of bottles of water from the bar they didn't have any water at all. Which we found quite strange for a hotel so didn't get to use the free drink vouchers. Also on a very personal note, the only plant based option for food was a sausage. We had stayed at other hotels before this one and they had a selection for each breakfast item. Again this is a very personal issue and wouldn't affect most people. Apart from that the stay was perfect

This hotel is all about location. If you love shopping, eating and history then I would recommend this hotel as all this is walkable. Hotel car parking is in the main carpark next door which is very handy. Free the first night then £2 a night after which is better than the actual carpark chargers which can go up to £26 a day. Check your ticket is authorised before getting to the exit. Breakfast is included and is ok. Rooms are comfortable and the hotel is quite good value.

The communication from the hotel (I asked a question) is not so good, no response from my two questions. They do send a generic message the day before which answered my questions but getting no response is poor in my opinion. This is an express hotel so slightly basic and tired, marks on the walls and carpet. Our room was at the front with a view, we could hear slight thudding from the bars music. We also had children running around but not too late.

The location is brilliant - with easy reach for the shopping outlet at Gunwharf Quays, the many restaurants, as well as the dock yard and on site cinema. We also easily caught a bus into the City Centre. The parking discount is an excellent bonus and the inclusive breakfast makes this a goof value for money weekend. Thank you. For those who are yet to discover it, please note there is an alternative cinema 'next door' in a disused unit within the dockyard - Cinema no. 6. It's brilliantly run and well worth a visit if the film showing when you visit appeals to you - this was a gem of a find!

We had stayed here at the same time last year, and the cleanliness of the bathroom was sub standard, however, this was not the case this year, and I will be booking for our Christmas shopping weekend again for 2025.

My friend and I stayed here for one night. We had a good night’s sleep in comfy beds and quietness. TV was good as was wifi. Breakfast was good despite having to wait for the odd top up of food. Loved the fact I could park the car in the underground parking of Gunwharf Quays very near the hotel and it was free - but you must get the ticket validated at reception to get it free. The location of this hotel is perfect for visiting the town centre - we went up Spinnaker Tower which was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all the hotel made our getaway from London a very pleasant one. December 2024.

glass tumbler in bathroom - broke and shattered all over the floor.

The holiday inn was in a great location and was right on top of all the shops and restaurants. It was very clean. Rooms were comfortable and we had a lovely view of the shopping centre and as it was December all the lights looked lovely. Parking was also discounted which was a nice surprise. Great value for money. Breakfast lovely. Definitely recommend!

If there was anything it would probably be a bigger bed but that is just my opinion. The bed was comfortable and 2 pillows were provided. 1 soft and 1 harder depending on your preference for sleeping so that was a nice touch.

It's a perfect location within feet of the shops & restaurants. There is a small bar within the hotel & a nice spacious area to sit in. The key card to the rooms has to be used in the elevator, only allowing customers through which is a nice security factor. The staff were great & lovely, a big huge thank you to Wayne & Maria for making our stay perfect with their kindness & friendship.

My only little small complaint was not being able to use my hair straighteners in front of the mirror as there were no electricity sockets near enough.

The location was great and the welcome by the front desk staff (Daniel) was friendly and informative. The price was excellent for what we got - clean room with comfy bed and tea/coffee. You could also get hot drinks from the communal area at any time. The communal areas were spotless. An unexpected bonus was a hot breakfast - nothing fancy but still plentiful and decent. Customers get 24 hours free parking in Gunwharf keys and you can also get a card which gives an additional 10% off at some shops and restaurants.

Nothing to not like for the price

Room was clean and comfortable and the shower had lots of hot water at a decent water pressure. Breakfast was very good and exceeded my expectations considerably. Staff were great and the location was perfect for a work meeting at the university. I have already recommended to my team who travel from all over the country to regularly attend meetings at the University.

The air conditioning unit wouldn't turn off and yes I did follow the instructions but the noise of that was only a minor inconvenience. Would have been nice to have more emphasis made of the discounts in local restaurants that were available on showing your key card as I went to the room dropped my case and went straight out to eat and didn't realize that I could have claimed a discount until I returned and read the room info leaflet. Again only a very minor inconvenience and I'll know for next time :-)

The staff was very helpful and tried their best to accommodate us to our needs (see negative part). So big shoutout to them. Amazingly, there is free coffee and tea available at any time of the day.

We were unlucky that there was a car show around Portsmouth, which made the prices skyrocket, so we payed quite a bit for the room. We asked for a twin bed on Booking, but apparently this does not arrive at the hotel, which most people are not aware. As all else was booked out, we could not get our request which we were unhappy about, but mostly came down to bad luck. It helps knowing that requesting on booking does not guarantee anything!
