Good location, clean room quiet at night though it’s above a small courtyard which was empty. Comfy bed parking nearby free 6pm- 8am.
It wasn’t that we didn’t like it but the bathroom was in the entrance lobby. You could close the door between the room and bathroom which was fine. The shower in the bath wasn’t great.

Great location, very reasonably priced, and overall, an enjoyable stay. The location was excellent, lots of pubs, restaurants, and attractions nearby. The rooms were a little funky (we rented three rooms), but hey for the price I cannot complain. The pub downstairs was great, very friendly staff at the bar and at check in. This is a solid place to stay, do not expect the Ritz, but for the price The Wellington cannot be beat.

The staff were all amazing kind and helpful even making sure that our food was ordered and kept hot until we arrived as got stuck in M3 crash on the night of travelling nothing was too much trouble and the meals are wonderful roasts to die for huge! We will be returning soon thankyou To the Wellington! Staff and had a lovely homely stay with you 😘 Vanessa & Lesley xx
There was a person who stayed previously had done a tiktok video to trash the room and left food at back of bed the wellington does not deserve this trash behaviour and we explained that this was behind the bed they were on the case and tidied it ASAP 😴

The location was brilliant, close to local pubs and a nice walk into both Portsmouth and Southsea. The room was lovely and would definitely recommend staying here. We will stay again but definitely be checking if the pub is open next time rather than believing all the emails.
We were absolutely gutted to arrive on Tuesday and find out the pub wasn't open at all that day. We were only staying one night and had planned to eat and drink at the pub. Very disappointed to not have been told about this and given the option to change days.

Superb location right on the sea front close to the shopping village, Spinnaker tower and the University, where we were attending a graduation. Car park next to the hotel was free from 6pm-8am. I paid a day rate of around £13. The executive room was spacious and well equipped.
The shower head attached to the bath did not work. The pub was closed as we stayed on a Tuesday night. It would have been nice to have the option of eating there when we arrived.

The Wellington is a historic, traditional pub/inn with a few rooms upstairs. Being an older construction, the owners did a great job in making the rooms comfortable and unique. My room had a small, modern and efficient shower with a small sink as well. My toilet was down the hall and private. Downstairs in the pub, the staff was incredibly friendly and it had the feeling of being welcomed into the family. I was thinking of exploring the surrounding neighborhood, but Tom at the bar was so cheerful and easy going, i stayed and had the Lamb Shank dinner. In all honesty, i have been in the UK for over a month now and i have sadly discovered to lower my expectations with the traditional British menus. But the Lamb Shank suprised me as a dish i can rave about when i get back home to the USA. Additionally, being an overnight guest, everything was 15% discount for food and drinks!! If you are looking for a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that has some of the Old World charm, then Tom and the rest of the crew will trwat you just right!!!! The location can’t be beat for sitting right in the middle of the historic district.

The location is great, central, close to shops, public transport and there are fewer steps from the beach. The room was comfortable and clean. They are generous, and in the room, there's a cattle offering plenty of coffee and tea. I love it!
There's no small fridge and no air conditioning. Unfortunately, the window blinds at my room had a lot of dust. The rest was sparkling clean ✨️

Great location: originally intended to be just a stop-over, but provided a good night out in Portsmouth with it being right next to the old town, Spice Island etc. Nice comfortable room which is above a traditional pub serving (what certainly looked like) great food. Staff were polite and helpful.
The room seemed a bit of an odd shape and design, although overall it was really good. Some nicer quilts could be provided for those intending to use the sofa-bed as the only one I could find was well-worn and miscoloured.

Efficient friendly Bar Staff, good food etc. Location exceptional. Parking organised by owner exceptional.
We had the Executive Suite, it was very well furnished etc only issue for us was that it seemed odd having to pass through the bathroom/ toilet on entering the suite to get to the bedroom. Evening meal very good, sticky toffee pudding up there with the best I have had. Breakfast , I had the full english my wife had eggs benedict, large portions of quality food neither of us could eat it all , didn't need lunch !

We arrived around 1-15pm on Saturday, as luck would have there was a parking space right outside The Wellington. Popped in on the off chance we could collect the parking permit which was offered with the booking. Not only did we get the permit, we were able to check early in and drop our bags as well. Result! Excellent, helpful friendly gentleman on reception who showed us to our room. Our room, room 4, was clean and bright, with a lovely comfortable bed, views of the historic Hot Walls down the road. Tidy compact bathroom, with fresh fluffy clean towels. We didn't eat breakfast at The Wellington. However, The Canteen along the Hot Walls was recommended for breakfast by The Wellington. All in all a very enjoyable overnight stay for a family birthday near by and a nice Sunday morning walk around Old Portsmouth and the beach to watch the Hovercraft arrive.
Nothing negative to report, great location. We will definitely return to sample the extensive menu.
