This was my second stay. Staff & owners were welcoming & friendly. Location is perfect for my needs. railway station, & Gosport ferry just across the road. My single room was well equipped and comfortable. free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly stay again.
I wanted for nothing. This is a first class establishment.

Please understand this is not a negetive, but a true factual reflection on the weekend. Overal a possitive. Room 24 : The view was amazing, overlooking the HMS Warrior in the dockyard, the harbour and also overseeing the spinnaker tower. Especially beautiful at night! Experienced some damage to the room from previous clientel clearly built up over time, which always mind boggles me how people can do this without a second thought. Iron burn patch in the carpet by the bed, a few purple staines centre if the room, toilet door handle (inside the toilet/bathroom) hanging on by a few screw threads. One of the chairs is split on the back cushion. Paint on furniture chipped and worn. Various cracks in the walls, window lock screws half torn out (old wooden windows). Massive bed, however, it has quite a thin mattress, which is a little hard and worn. It took a while to get used to it, woke feeling achey. A mattress topper would work. TV old and outdated, do not take a memory stick to play films, it wont work. Other than that, decor was nice, huge room, facilities nice, concept nice, staff lovely, but needs some TLC in the room. Main Hotel : Reception area beautiful, dinning area beautiful. The building itself is of age, and looks beautiful. Great placement for doing everything you could ever want. Spinnaker tower, Portsmouth Dockyards, Gunwharf Quays Shopping Centre, Cinema, Bowling etc all a stones throw away. Restaurants and pubs everywhere. Please note, weekends are loud outside, drinkers everywhere, and train station just across the road, so you will hear trains braking and coming in, Manager was a lovely guy. One of the workers there, lovely gentleman who works the shift after the Manager, amazing guy, very friendly and helpful. One of the most genuine people I have met in a long time. Breakfast was ok, a good variation of English Cooked Breaky, and Continental Breaky. GREAT chinese restaurant just down the road, opposite the Gunwharf Keys Entrance.
As above, a few niggles, but we actually really liked the room, the hotel and staff. The area, availability of local shops, restaurants and attractions.

We were very welcome as soon as we stepped in. Very friendly staff .we were greeted with a bottle of bubbly 🍾 and two glasses to start the celebration of my partners 60th birthday. The room was very clean, very large , and definitely worth every penny .The bed was comfortable with clean white bedding. The view from room 15 was amazing, with the Spinnaker Tower and the harbour right outside our window. The hotel was in perfect location. Slept extremely well. The room was very dark with blinds and very thick curtains to block the light. Breakfast was tasty with fresh ingredients. We were asked if we would like more .choice of cearls, yougharts and juices tea and coffee .we will be returning soon .You definitely can not go wrong with this hotel.
Absolutely nothing wrong

The location was fantastic, with views of the harbour and HMS warrior. 5 minute walk from Historic Dockyard. Wonderful pubs nearby that serve good food. Very comfortable beds. Room ideal temperature. Breakfast was great. Continental and full English. Vegetarian sausages available. Can not fault staff. Above everything else, they made our stay perfect. They were wonderful. Rooms made up every day. Reception and breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Each time we returned to the hotel we received a friendly greeting and asked how our day was and when checking out, were wished a safe journey home. Would definitely return.
We couldn't stay longer and had to go home

Location perfect for visit to naval museums, in our case The Marie Rose. Hotel car park very convenient also. Staff very helpful and good breakfast. Amazingly close to railway station , ferry docks, bus station, shopping malls and resturants. Not excessively noisey but there are lots of bars in the area.Room had lovely window seats with views of The Warrior warship and harbour .
A little trickey to navigate first time but Portsmouth is a very historic city at the end of a long unfinished motorway. Patience required but hotel kindly provided directons also.

It's a character property, and while it's a little tired in places, the decor in our room and the reception/dining area was very nice. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We found the location fantastic for our planned visit to the dockyards, and there are multiple restaurants, shops and pubs nearby.
Not the hotel's issue really but next time I would definitely book a room with a seaview. The weather was amazingly sunny during our stay and it would have been lovely to look over the sea rather than the gloomy multi-storey carpark behind the hotel. We were only there for one night (compact double room) but a week of looking over that would have been less than ideal.

friendly welcome, ease and flexibility re parking, breakfast service
From the website and photos we had expected a very boutique and luxury hotel as we had planned a special treat for the entire family. The fabric and location, facing onto the bus station was far more ordinary. However the friendliness throughout our stay, overcame any disappointment. The rooms were very hot upon arrival due to the weather. Closed curtains may have helped keep the room cooler for our arrival. However the fan was welcome and effective.

Well I chose this hotel because it was close to the places that were the point of my visit. The historic dockyards are the home of HMS Warrior, Victory and Marie Rose. Step out of the door and you are two minutes walk away from the entrance of the dockyard. If you are the shopper, then you are 5 minutes walk to the Gun Wharfe Quays shopping centre which has many shops (of course) but lots of sitting/benches to sit and watch the to and fro of ferries and Royal Navy ships. The hotel is a classy looking place from the roadside, and inside just the same. Wonderful staff, very attentive, I spent 4 days there and each day I felt very looked after by the staff. A special mention for the cook, excellent breakfast each morning, you cannot wish for better. This hotel is well worthy of a five star review 🏴

Location. My main aim was to see the D Day Museum because my father took a LCT in that day. Next morning all the guests at breakfast seemed to be German. Very friendly, wanted to know why I was in Portsmouth. Like an episode of Fawlty Towers - I tried not to mention the recent unpleasantness. I said I was there because I was a Napoleonic Wars buff which meant I had to hastily remember some details from those times.
