Lovely building in a great location. Great for an overnight stay. For the price it’s outstanding value based on a Tuesday night stay. Lovely deep bath and comfortable bed.

Headboard has seen better days (pealing faux leather) Dirty or stained mattress protector (only noticed as a hospitality worker I always strip the bedding to add with towels for an easy last check of all belongings and help the housekeeping) Couldn’t drop our bags before check in as the office is closed. So be sure to message them BEFORE if you want to be able to do this. The staircase is very creaky and you can hear people in the other rooms. (Didn’t bother us but may do to someone staying work)

Stayed at the Duke of Buckingham and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and spotless, with a very comfortable bed and an excellent shower. Only upstairs was some noise from the room above, but overall a pleasant stay.

While the location is great, the lack of soundproofing was a big disappointment. I could clearly hear every movement and conversation from the room above, which made it difficult to relax and get a good night's sleep. This is something that really needs improvement to match the otherwise pleasant experience of the hotel. Until then, it's hard to recommend for light sleepers or those looking for a quiet stay

Given a nice family room on the ground floor in the cottage behind the main building. Otherwise my room would have been up three flights of stairs. Nice bed, TV, heater I could control, I like it cool overnight. Generally clean. Nice bedding, plenty of sockets. Tea and coffee making facilities. Quiet. Bathroom, with shower and WC. Good location. Great price. Good value for money. Bedside lights. Helpful staff.

Shower a bit small for me, toilet seat was a bit loose. Carpet was lightly marked in places. No breakfast available.

Lovely room .. such a comfortable bed and awesome shower (that woke me up) Only draw back - bit too small tv with not enough channels avaliable. Parking is a real problem which is limited . But it is helpful thar you are able to purchase a parking permit for your stay - costs £5 per day . No food avaliable . Overall a pleasant stay and I would return if I needed to travel to Portsmouth . Thank you the Duke of Buckingham :)

Location was great. Staff lovely and helpful. Our room was a good size. Nice and clean. Parking permit provided for a small fee.

Carpet in our room yes was freshly hoovered but looked and felt like it needs a good wash. Wouldn't want to stand on it barefoot. Shower unit wasn't properly attached to a wall also water wasn't draining sufficient enough. After about 90 seconds of Shower i was worried it might spill out onto a bathroom floor. On the other hand super quick showers=less water usage and that's a positive.

We stayed here previously and it's central location to the Naval Museum , Hovercraft to Isle of Wight and to Southsea in general made it quite handy. Location is quiet and central enough that I can get around on public transport or walking without fear of being caught off guard by either typical UK weather or general loss of direction.

Some guests were extremely noisy with constant banging of doors but it subsided after a while..

Very nice location, within a short walk to the University of Portsmouth and many local attractions. I highly appreciated an early check-in, arriving after a sleepless overnight flight from the US. Good price. Clean and neat place.

The small room is indeed quite small. I didn't mind mostly, but the space around the bathroom sink was particularly tight. Sound isolation was not very good from other rooms and the streets, but I was prepared with earplugs. The Wi-Fi was slow at times.

It was perfect for a couple of nights. The location is great. We were on the ground floor or the units behind so it was quiet, except for one night but those guests probably woke everyone up as they were very loud. Our stay was over the Easter weekend so some things were not open but this was in the city wide. The beds were comfortable and the room warm.

We ran out of hot water after one shower so I had a cold shower which was unpleasant as the weather was cold. The bathroom was also very small. 10 pound a day for a parking permit seems a but steep .

Very reasonable price. Room in converted garage, well insulated for warmth. Very clean. Tea and coffee facility, shower body wash and towels provided. TV provided. Tucked away behind hotel so quieter than on main road.

Shower room very small but workable, however no heat in shower room, so it's cold when you get out of shower wet and the floor is very cold, but we left the door open to get some heat from the room and went into the bedroom to get dry. Although the staff said it was very quiet because it is a stand alone unit with no attached neighbours and it was also on a side street with no through traffic, the clanking chain on the gates at the back of the hotel, next to the room, and the accompanying shouting were noisy, we assume this was staff and/or a delivery and it only happened once.

Good organisation of late arrival. Room was a former garage behind the hotel, but had more space than normal room. All was clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Location is perfect to reach the Spinaker in a few minutes walking distance. Parking at night no problem. Italian Restaurant in the same building - does not belong to the hotel! Small shop and Portsmouth's oldest pub in slipper distance.

Price is high but normal at the FoS weekend.
