We have stayed at the hotel twice before and are always happy with the room, service and location. The room is the ideal size for a family of 4 but be warned it is on the top floor. The 2 children's beds are really comfortable and the king bed is great. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the seafront and lots of restaurants and cafes. We always choose to have breakfast at Florence's and it never disappoints. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating.

This is a minor point, but we did notice on this occasion that some of the interiors are looking a little tired. Also the shower in our room is not the most powerful, but none of this will prevent us from returning.

Decor. Space. Able to last minute provide a car parking space and stay in it post check out. Early check in. Nice and fresh food at breakfast. Friendly staff. Very comfy and large bed. Clean.

Extremely expensive (I know it was the festival) but I think more could have been more at breakfast for example (wasn’t aware we could have more than 1 glass of juice/unlimited hot drinks- saw the table next to us reordered and we had finished). Short staffed at breakfast- didn’t get milk / spoon with my tea and the time it came it was cold. Shower head / pressure was poor. Paying for the car park when we had already paid such a high price.

A Gem, genuinely a real Gem! Exceptional location, staff, rooms, food - I cannot state more highly what an amazing place this is. 20 out of 10! Stylishly decorated and appointed inside and outside, these guys have knowledge and experience of what good looks like! I genuinely felt quite sad when I checked out! If your visiting Portsmouth or South and/or adjoining areas look no further, I guarantee you will not be disappointed and you will be back again and again!

Very stylish and well designed extension/conservatory/garden, and interior public spaces.

Poor design layout in bedroom 4 as double bed had no room for bedside table on my side as too near the door. Smaller tea table could have been used and bed moved over 250mm. Tea table as usual hotel difficult to use without making a mess. WC seat poor, loose, lid not stay up while peeing, cheap feel. Eye level radiator showing rust. Breakfast choice of poached egg on toast very poor as eggs overcooked and toast very soggy.

When we arrived at 10.45 pm Bea (?) on reception came outside in the rain to show us the location of the secure parking and helped carry bags back to hotel- only a short walk. Excellent sevice- thank you! Our room was quite large and the bed very comfortable. We had a good night's sleep. there was a large choice for breakfast which was freshly prepared and really good quality.

Breakfast took quite a while to be served but as the restaurant was quite full and the food was freshly prepared, we could not, and did not complain.

The property was clean and bedroom was beautiful (we had a room on top floor which was perfect) and toasty. Breakfast was good and the staff that served us was very accommodating

Cold in certain areas- Our bathroom was cold there was a towel rail in there but it needs a radiator. The breakfast area was also cold they had radiators in the area but it wasn’t on (December 1st) and it was cold in Southsea. The heating seemed to go off at a certain time (well in our room it did on that particular morning) guests should be able to choose to keep their radiators on.

Bit limited, ok if you like avocados.

No hot water in our room, fixed the next day. Power to plugs went off on second day, meant a walk through rain to reception to get it fixed as phone power was lost. Weather wasn't very good so heating in rooms would have been nice. We booked b&b via booking .com. & paid the extra, but on arrival were told no breakfast included. This wasn't down to hotel, as several of our friends have booked at different hotels including B&B through booking .com & have arrived to be told they haven't booked breakfast.

The location was very near to the seafront but unfortunately it is undergoing flood defence development which made it difficult to get there. The staff were fab. The breakfast was very good and the service was exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable.

The room was quite cold on arrival and the heating went off quite early. The radiator in our bathroom ( room 8) was completely cold. The paid parking was ok but there is so many stones ( quite deep) it was difficult to pull a suitcase across it!!

Beautifully decorated, room was spotless. Breakfast was very good and we loved the opportunity to sit outside. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Can’t think of anything really. Might benefit from either more strongly identifying the Mercer brand as this is how it was signed externally, or more prominently signing the Florence House name as it wasn’t as easy as it might have been to find it. Parking spot was super-tight but that goes with the properties in this area I think, and on balance it was good to have it available

The hotel was ideally situated for all the amenities Southsea has to offer. We ate at the Florence Arms on the first evening. It was very nice. On the last evening we ate in the hotel’s garden restaurant which was really good. Breakfast was excellent. Table service, fantastic choice and freshly prepared.

Our room was a little on the small side. No bedside cabinet on one side of the bed. Not sure if it could have had a better layout. But it was very nice and spotlessly clean.
