We arrived off the evening ferry at Portsmouth so were shattered. Had a drink in the bar before turning in for the night. Lovely atmosphere in the garden. Our King size room and en suite was spectacular in a beautiful Victorian house across the road from the main reception. After a much needed sleep went across the road to the restaurant/garden for a wonderful breakfast. So much choice!! Location was great. Took the dog for a run in gardens 5 minutes away before we checked out. Would definitely recommend booking a parking slot as it is limited. We just managed to get our camper van in the booked space but were more than happy as nowhere else nearby. Would definitely book again.

The hotel was pet friendly which was our reason for staying however we didnt feel that we were compromising on quality because we had a dog! The rooms and restaurant area were very well appointed. The staff went out of their way to be accommodating. The pre arranged secure parking was exactly that.; secure, safe and reasonably priced. There were allocated spaces with the guest name on. It was a pre-ferry overnight stop so no opportunity to try the restaurant. The seafront and promenade for walking were a stones throw away but the hotel was set one back from the main street so it was peaceful and quiet. Just 15 mins drive from Portsmouth ferry terminal.

Styling and decoration. The historical building with a modern update. Facilities were great. We had the breakfast option with our booking and it was absolutely phenomenal.

My husband is 6 foot so he found the ceiling height in our room a huge issue. I like to stay on a higher floor so I did request it but there was no mention of the ceiling height being slanted in those rooms. Otherwise I would have requested the first floor. The person working on the desk when we checked in was lovely. The following day there was a different person working the breakfast/check-out shift who wasn’t so friendly and welcoming. We weren’t very happy about all the construction work going on around the waterfront and it took us a while to figure out how to get to see water. We are from Australia and it is our first time in Portsmouth so a little information from reception or upon arrival might have eased our expectations of a beautiful beachside oasis.

The spacious room was lovely on ground floor as requested, very clean and well supplied with toiletries and towels. The staff were very welcoming and really efficient, nothing was too much trouble for them, very helpful giving directions and info of the area and bus and train and taxi details

Breakfast was lovely with a really good variety and choices , the restaurant on an evening was the same, really good food and drink, it rained quite a lot when we was there but the first night was lovely in the beer garden, lit up and very cosy

Room is stunning. Decor beautiful. Bea, at reception was an absolute diamond to deal with, took the time to show me around and tell me everything I needed to know. I’ve already booked another 2 nights stay. Shower is lovely and big. Most comfortable bed I think I’ve ever slept in. Carpet in the room is luxurious and clean. Bottled water is supplied in the room. Towels are plentiful and very fresh. I 100% recommend staying at this hotel. I stay in the area often with work and usually stay in a large chain hotel… no longer. This is my new go-to. Hospitality done right!!

Expensive at £144 for double room with no breakfast Woken at 530 am by youths outside our room at Least 8 arguing and swearing for 30 mins feeling quite concerned / couldn’t get back to sleep Room above us seemed full of teenagers are they staff ? It was a full on party and kept us awake until 1am - we were in Somerset house room 3 We wouldn’t come again because of all this disturbance despite a lovely place as slept so badly and didn’t feel safe

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There was an issue with my bathroom but the receptionist dealt with it promptly and offered me an upgrade. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast menu had plenty of options and was very good.

The executive room I had originally been allocated was disappointing as it was quite dark and cold, and not nearly as spacious as the superior room. I would definitely recommend paying a little extra for the superior room, it was far nicer than the executive room.

The hotel is located in the heart of Portsmouth, next to the D-Day museum, the room was excellent and the shower room was really nice, the receptionist was welcoming, explained how to park and how to go to the Isle of Wight, the hotel has a good restaurant in a nice garden where breakfast is served. We has a great time,

The hotel is composed of different buildings. So it was a little bit hard to find. The restaurant served food only until 20:00.

Room was lovely and enormous, tons of space, wonderful shower, also tons of room. Parking straight opposite hotel. Staff really friendly and helpful. Very accommodating in request to change dates. Breakfast was great, although it did get very busy around 9am. Dinner also nice. Really close to restaurants and seafront.

The staff are absolutely brilliant and very accommodating. The staff couldn't do enough for you. My only complaint would be that the hallway light was on all night and could be easily seen through the base of the door which made the room less dark. Breakfast was delicious and our dining experience was delightful. Would definitely stay het again.

We had the ground floor room which had a separate toilet that had no privacy window this could benefit from a frosted window sticker as there are properties that look over the window.
