It had everything I expected in a budget range hotel. I specially like the air cooler fitted in the room , which was greatly appreciated on a very warm night. It did the job admirably. It was very clean, the pillows surprisingly comfortable. Room a little small, but for the price I couldn’t really expect any different. Plenty of clean towels.

There is no provision for usb cable phone charging. Easy enough to replace the existing socket to include a usb tab. In this day and age it is considered an essential everyday necessity. Even in a budget hotel, I had to source and pay for a usb charging plug that I probably will never use again. That put an extra £20 on my stay.

As a disabled pensioner, I was very happy to find a dedicated 'blue badge' parking bay, which I was able to keep for the full length of my stay...be aware you cannot reserve them and it is on a first come first served basis. The car park has very limited parking so keep this in mind if you go out in your car. The hotel has 4 EVCP as well. My one gripe with my accommodation was the bed. I had booked a double room, but because the receptionist saw me using my stroller for mobility, she felt a dedicated, disability room, with the large ensuite would be easier... however this meant that I forfeited the double bed and ended up with a VERY small single!!! I'm a big man and weigh in at approximately 17st... and the bed was probably the smallest I've ever been in? Definitely not a choice I would make again. The continental breakfast is really good. You get multiple choices of cereals, breads, cheese, ham and meat, preserves and fruit juice. Tea and coffee are from a machine, so if they are busy and you want this service, the queue can be quite slow and stressful. Unfortunately they only have 1 machine...so the problems are common. One great thing about this hotel is the fact that you can buy a pint of Magner's cider for £4.00. They also do a meal deal with a pizza and a beer for £13.45...which is very good value. Finally, I must congratulate this venue's wonderful staff, particularly the receptionists...who were excellent. But special praise must be given to Tina. She was outstanding and went above and beyond to ensure every guest was looked after. She is a font of all knowledge, on all things to do with Portsmouth and she is happy to help you with any issues you may have? A great asset to the hotel.

My mobility issues meant I had to travel everywhere by taxi...this or lose my parking space. The other site for parking would have been impossible for me to reach... although it is literally 50m away.

Because the ferry disembarks after 21:00 hours, I use the hotel for an overnight stay when arriving from Spain. There are multiple dining options located across the road from the hotel. After a good nights sleep, breakfast is available either in the hotel or across the road. With a 24-hour manned reception, the staff always keep an eye on my motorcycle, meaning a stress free sleep for the following days ride. A petrol station just around the corner is a bonus

My only issue is riding through the city centre from the ferry terminal to the hotel. Although that is fairly straight forward with Tomtom.

We chose Ibis Portsmouth as the hotel backed onto the football stadium. The room was small but spotlessly clean, decent size TV, shower fine with complementary soap & towels, comfortable bed… was a bit strange having the sink in the bedroom, bit like a students quarters. We stayed in room 218, there was no noise whatsoever inside or outside the hotel, and yes, we would stay at this Ibis hotel again.

Not really a complaint… there are hardly any car parking spaces attached to the hotel premises. Once you’ve booked in just register your vehicle at reception, then you can park for ‘FREE’ bang opposite the hotel in the huge Costa Coffee and B&Q car park. There isn’t a kettle, spoons, or complementary tea & coffee sachets in the room, hence why the hotel is ‘budget’…. but, there are four decent cardboard drinking cups. Should you feel the need for supplies there is a massive Tesco Supermarket right next to the hotel, also, you can get a kettle from reception at no extra charge, which is obviously handy.

Tina and Ann were the best Hotel receptionists I have ever dealt with. Sooooooo helpful, especially with my elderly father. Very much appreciated and nothing was too much trouble for these two wonderful ladies!!! I witnessed them helping anyone and everyone with the exact same levels of enthusiasm. They are a credit to this hotel!! I will definitely be back when I come to see my family in Portsmouth in the future!! Thanks a million!!!

Everything was fine. The only British I have is that I wanted a second pillow and never got one but that is all..

Have reviewed many times, opinion doesn't change, if you are down for the football and, you've got a good price then you can't beat this hotel you know exactly what you are getting. On this occasion, due to a minor cock up (partly me partly the hotel, I have to say very impressed. The staff just took control and devised a solution that sorted the issue out without any fuss or nonsense really appreciated that (I've got another 1/2 dozen nights booked here already

Not much to moan about, but the only thing I'll comment on (as my eyes are going) is that it would be nice if you could clearly see what way was hot / cold on the shower (how minor is that!)

Everything that you need from a cheap hotel. No fuss. Parking was easy. Check in was seamless. The room was very clean. Decent sized TV and adequate shower. Breakfast was continental but for the price of the stay I didn't mind. It was fine for filling up in the morning. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. 5 mins walk from the football ground and right next to a Tesco, KFC & McDonald's

The lift had an annoying habit of closing as soon as somebody walked out of it, so it could take you about 3 goes of pressing the button before you could actually get in the lift yourself. Heating system seemed a bit off in terms of temperature. I had it set to 18c and it was a lot hotter than that when I woke up in the morning

I honestly think all the Ibis' are run well in any terraine, also like the ergonomic and anthro friendly layouts i.e very civilised even in budget versions intuitive placement of ameneties etc, well placed towels and soap! just lovely! Love the room lighting and the memory foam bed lol.. Breakfasts in main venues are absolutely spot on at all levels, eggs done right, really good sausage and nicely cooked good back bacon hash browns are wicked too and it'll take til gone lunchtime to feel hungry again! Budget breakfast is good and varied yet not always to brit tastes! these bods in chsrge hsve to compare the value of conti versus brit breakfast to me it requires no thought! brit is it ! Love it just wish i could get some loyalty discounts!

the budget shower cubicle tbh!

Check in was brilliant. Staff member Tina was excellent. She has an excellent manner with guests and went over and above to help everyone, even a 'very very difficult' guest!!! We have travelled to the UK regularly due to now living in Spain. I have to say, Tia was like a friend I've known for years! I mention this as I feel very strongly that staff members should be recognised by guests to management when they make "very stressed" guests so welcome. This is the first time we have stayed in Portsmouth and your Ibis budget hotel, but I know it won't be the last. All staff were very friendly, professional and welcoming, but Tina stood out as the best to both myself and my husband!! Hence my strongly felt comments! Well done, 5* Tina!!!!!

Parking is a bit limited. Although, parking freely at B&Q is satisfactory and not too far away, not the best in winter. It does make it easier to park than it could have been.

It might be a budget hotel but attention to detail in the room was more like a 5-star! - Lovely folded towels on the bed, a lovely little fold on the loo roll in the toilet and super clean and comfy - plus hair shampoo and body wash in the shower! Bed was super comfy too and after a long day travelling from France to the ferry, had the best night 's sleep in ages! Reception staff were super helpful and lovely - Tina was amazing - we didn't arrive til about 10.30 at night - I had a hotwater bottle with me as had a bad back so she gave us a kettle for the room so I could fill it up again with hot water - and some teabags and milk so we could have a very welcome cuppa! She was so kind and friendly and super helpful - defo 5-star service at a budget price. would stay again for sure!
