I got a room upgrade to a larger room with a shower, which was really nice. There's a free tea dispenser in the hallways, which is a nice bonus. The breakfast was amazing, I even got a small grill to prepare some fish. The onsens themselves were really nice and relaxing, not too hot. The rugged look of the mineral depositions throughout the men's bath looked very cool. The men and women's baths switch early in the morning. No better way to start a day in Beppu, and you get to try the other bath.

If anything, the power outlets are a bit loose, which is a fire hazard. Could do with replacement. I recommend bringing a towel yourself. You get towels from the hotel but if you're wanting to go to many different onsens in and around beppu, 1 towel a day is not gonna cut it. But if you're not here for an onsen tour (why are you in Beppu?) it's sufficient.

The room was clean and beautiful! It was only a max 10min walk from the train station which was great, and the services were great too. The hotel has an onsen which we unfortunately couldn’t use due to having a cold, but for example they had a machine that you could help yourself to unlimited amount of green, black or oolong tea, and coffee (plus water, all hot and cold). Reception also sold icecream which was a cute plus. This part of Beppu was very calm, but still had a lot of restaurants, bars etc. right next to it.

I had a great staying at Nogami Honkan. This Japanese-style hotel is lovely. I had a single room with shared bathroom. Shared facilities such as the dining hall and bathroom are very nice and clean. The hotel’s onsen is great! Japanese-style breakfast was very good and abundant. Staff was nice and very helpful (they helped me with the booking of a restaurant). The location is excellent, around 8-10 minutes walking distance from Beppu station and in area with plenty of restaurants and shops. Highly recommend it!

This is a very comfortable and pleasant ryokan with friendly staff and easy car parking. The onsite private and public baths were particularly enjoyable at the end of the day. Our room was clean, comfortable and quite spacious. The ryokan is well situated with numerous small restaurants and cafes very close by, together with the ubiquitous Lawsons, Family Mart etc. There is also a larger shopping centre a few minutes walk away. As Beppu is quite a large city, it is probably best to have your own car to get around to its various attractions.

The staff were very kind and helpful. They helped explain to us how to take the bus to visit the Beppu Hells. When we wanted to use their private onsen, they showed us the choices we could rent for 50 mins and explained the features of each bath. When we were served breakfast, it was shared with us what the food items were and how we should best enjoy them. The experience was like staying at your grandparents' place and being well-taken care of.

The building is hidden in a small alley. There could have been better signage to indicate the location of the building.

Our room was much bigger than we thought it would be. We were in communication with them before and were able to get a parking spot easily. We were delighted to be able to use the private onsen for 500 yen. The neighborhood is close to the "nightlife" part of town, which is still fairly quiet (at least where we ended up going), but there's lots to do in that little arcade area and it's only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The Western breakfast option was larger than we expected. I would definitely stay here again!

The parking, breakfast, and private onsen all costed extra money. Still all very affordable, but having free parking would have been nice.

I like that I have a private room although CR is shared. The room is actually big, it can fit my luggage bag even if opened and I still have a bit space to walk around. There were microwave oven and a shared ref on the lounge and also laundry. It is also near Kitahama bus stop which I boarded bus going to Aso, Kurokawa Onsen, going back to Fukuoka and some local destination. Staffs are nice and helpful. Onsen is really plus plus. And I like that they have a long term rate for those staying 1 week and longer.

The room was very big, quiet, clean, and comfortable. We made use of the private onsen for just 500jpy and it was great. Close to Beppu station and the historical Takegawara onsen.

The surrounding businesses seemed a bit shady. Felt like the red-light district of Beppu, though it wasn't a big issue.

Close to the station and bus stops. The room is a nice size for one people. The bed is a small futon so if you are not already use to futon you will probably have a hard time to sleep. I'm used to it so I sleep well. The desk has bid drawers to stock things Communal fridge to store food. I really appreciate the free coffee and tea all through the day in the big lounges. The onsen is nice!

The desk chair was really old. The door of the room next to mine wasn't sliding properly so every time it closed I would expect a big noise which was annoying.

We liked that it was easy to get to from the station- great location and a little secluded. Close to lots of food options, the water and shopping. We loved our onsen experience and our own yakuta. The tea and coffee machine was well loved and well used. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

The common area would be improved by access to plates and cutlery to heat meals, but just a minor detail.
