The new Tsuruta hotel was located very conveniently in he heart of Beppu close to the historical bathhouse. The room, despite being slightly dated, was a comfortable tatami room with a great view over the bay. The bathroom appeared to have been renovated recently. For the price of around 10.000 yen per night for two people, breakfast and free parking were included, which is rare at this price point! The Onsen was nice and not too small and had an outdoor pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. As a foreigner I felt very accommodated at breakfast, where all descriptions where in English as well and allergens for all dishes were displayed. As someone with allergies, this is a rare and very pleasant sight! Overall, great value for money and amazing service. Can fully recommend

The ryokan style room was exactly what I was looking for as a getaway, so spacious for one person. I was really impressed with the bathroom, looked newly renovated, I almost wish I used it but I went to the onsen every night - amazing!

I think the listing could have been clearer about the onsen, what amenities are provided. I assume there is generally a kaiseki option at ryokans but I didn't see this listed clearly on your listing or inside the venue so I didn't book this - I'm still not sure if this was an option but wish this was clearer.

The hot spa was brilliant. The location was perfect. Room was large and bed very comfortable. The front desk personnel was exceptionally helpful and very friendly and deserves highest appreciation from hotel management.

No daily cleaning… Senior staff in breakfast floor was very unpleasant… bossy, very loud and it was impossible to enjoy breakfast, because he rather controlled guests than providing service. There was hardly a quiet moment for enjoying breakfast where he did not shout any orders… Most of the guests were Korean and Chinese who understand no English. So the manager was shouting his commands in English (Japlish) which was impossible to understand. A very bossy overseer type of senior manager… and not good in a service position…😔 Hotel NEW Tsuruta is better renamed in Hotel OLD Tsuruta, since the facilities are outdated and very used.

amazing space of the room, Japanese style futon, fantastic breakfast, great staff service. Even though the hotel is under renovation, and public bath cannot be used but they did offer a coupon to nearby bath. Great value for money

The room only has shower unlike normal hotel with a small bath tub. this is not something I don’t like, just like to point out. What I don’t like is the hotel doesn’t have amenities such as body lotion, or cotton ball, not a great disadvantage just inconvenient.

Excellent customer service, location is great and the breakfast is fantastic. And of course, the onsen ! Did 3 times in one day (morninf, after come back from whole day activity and finally just before bed).

The staffs are very helpful and beaming smile. I reserved room with traditional beds, very specious, clean, quite and comfortable. There is big window to sea, very good scenery. A sunrise is very beautiful, love it. The hotel have microwave, ice maker, coin machine and open 24hrs. The hot springs from natural separate male and female, spacious. The breakfast is good, serveral food and dessert, enough for all. Location is roadside but quite, easy to find, around 500metre from Beppu train station. The hotel is a bit old but everything is good. I think this is an old local business and nice.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. The Japanese style room was nice with great views of the sunrise. Breakfast was also great. I love the Toriten.

Rooms were a little old. The wooden pillars show their age and the staircases look old. Overall, the hotel could improve upon it's lighting.

Breakfast spread is large and plenty of variety. Most important it is tasty/ The hotel location is not far from train station and many rooms have sea view. Onsen is on high floor and great for relaxation. Very value for money.

Room and facilities can look a bit aged, but nevertheless it is still clean and neat.

Staff very professional and helpful. Location from Beppu station and access to restaurants for dinner. Breakfast catered for a variety of cultures. Even better was the use of the onsen … a fabulous way to sooth aching legs after sightseeing.

Lack of air conditioning in the hallways.

The public bath was very clean and comfortable. I was able to look down Beppu Bay and it was beautiful in the morning and evening. Their breakfast was exceptionally good! There were a plenty of selections and I ate more than I should've! All staff were very kind and polite.

Nothing, but if there was a shuttle bus from the train station, it would have been helpful for travellers with some suitcases.
