I loved my stay at Kagaya. The staff was super friendly (two spoke fluent English) and helpful. I loved being able to enjoy the baths, which can be rented privately twice a day. I rented the room in the annex which was perfect for me. Very quiet, spacious, and comfortable.

I wish there was a wifi amplifier for the annex. I wasn't able to grab a consistent connection and had to use my computer in the main lobby. Not a huge deal though, as I didn't need my computer much.

Really cosy ryokan room with a private onsen that u can reserve for a nice bath at the end of the day! Got the room with a private toilet, which is slightly small but functional for your needs. Staff were friendly and explained all the facilities available, such as shared usage of fridge etc, and provided free hot matcha in the free. Really cosy overall !

this Hotel is by the Beppu coast line, the big plus is that it has 3 private onsen which you can book in 1hr slot between 6am - 11am and 5pm-12midnight. 11-5pm the onsens are open to public but i didnt see anyone come in. We stayed in a japanese room/tatami mat but shared toilet.

Unable to control the Onsen water temp since it's centrally controlled. We almost always come back late and the water is EXTREMELY hot because they will turn on the pump between 10pm-11pm to ensure water remains hot overnight before turning it on again at 6am.

I loved the private baths. There are three types of private hot springs (rock, wood, and open air) which guests can book at night and in the morning for 1 hour without extra fees. I tried all types of baths and they were wonderful. The staffs were very kind, telling me information around the hotel. The location was good, just near the bus stop and 15 min walk from Beppu Station.

The place has character! I really enjoyed the traditional atmosphere. The 3 onsens in the place were great! The location is quite good, easy access by airport bus. Not too long to the bus stations that take you to the main city attractions. Some decent breakfast options nearby.

A great stay with private onsen in three variants. You can't say no to that! :) Almost exactly under the Beppu Tower and not that far from the Beppu Station, makes it convenient for travels outside of Beppu. Close-by is a ticket center for all bus companies that operate in Beppu, so another plus. And you can't ignore the super tasty restaurant that is like 3 minutes away from here :) Rooms are spacious and surprisingly well isolated for Japan (you learn to appreciate it during winter :D )...but after 1 hour of private bathtime in hotsprings, you don't mind a bit of an colder air getting into your room haha.

Area is not exactly the most picturesque but that is to be expected from the city center. Still, the hotel makes you feel safely isolated from the noise and lights outside, so no complains here :)

There are 3 types of onsen, Open-air/Rock/wooden bath. I could enjoy two times for night and morning. It was prettier than pictures and good to release stress. Workers are all nice and kind. there are fridge and hot water machine in shared area. And i could rent hair dryer from counter. It was close to Kitahama bus stop taking less than 5 min on foot.

Staff friendly. Great location. Gave me an extra mattress to make me more comfortable. Good private onsen so don’t have to pay to go elsewhere.

It’s a little rundown, but nothing too bad.

The staff there could speak english, and helped explain the facilities such as the different onsens. Room was pretty big for one person. Rock onsen was quite unique.

The rooms arent soundproof, so if the other guests are noisy you could hear them.
