The view from the room was amazing. We couldn't have been happier.

This is a nice, old-style onsen hotel right at the ocean in Beppu. We didn‘t have any expectations, but booked the hotel because of its good location. The hotel features a variety of tatami mat rooms, all with futons. The futons were thin but surprisingly comfortable. The pillows are classic Japanese pillows with one harder side and one softer side. In the reception area you can pick your yukata for the evening, as well as any amenities you might need (shaver, hair brush, and so on). The rooms are spacious and clean. Our room featured a private onsen tub, with a view of the ocean. There also is a public onsen at the top floor of the hotel, and two private family-size onsen with ocean views on the floor below. We tried all three options - the hottest water was in the public onsen on the seventh floor. The private family onsen was also very nice. There are drink machines on the third floor where you can buy a wide variety of drinks. The hotel rooms all have fridges to keep food and drinks cold. If you book a day in advance you can enjoy a very tasty kaiseki dinner in the hotel. We did and it was excellent. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, and their English skills are very good. The hotel is located right at the beach, close to a wide range of restaurants and also close to a couple of shopping malls. This hotel exceeded our expectations, and for this type of hotel we give it the highest rating. Note that it is an older, classic Japanese hotel, and should compared with such.

Although the hotel has an old-style charm, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The room was amazing, offering a beautiful sea view and a private bath, making for a truly relaxing stay. The rooftop outdoor onsen was also an amazing highlight, providing a perfect way to unwind.

Great location on the sea front & just 10 minutes walk from the station. Friendly, welcoming staff - keep our luggage until check in time & was ready in our room. Lovely traditional Japanese style room with tatami mats & futon beds. Our bath was an onsen style with view out to the sea - great to relax in. Hotel also has a open onsen which can be booked. Room was comfortable with TV, kettle, fridge & toiletries Breakfast was traditional Japanese style

Rooms can be noisy due to tatami mats - people above us seemed to stomp about all evening Rooms need a bit of a deep clean, as areas of dust & cobwebs

The rooms were very large, with a seperate foyer and even a lounge area by the window overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was also lovely, a mix of Japanese and western food, overlooking the water. The rooftop onsen was small but exactly as shown in the photos, lovely views overlooking the ocean.

The pipes do gurgle a bit, it didn't bother us because we always play white noise when sleeping, I recommend you try this if you don't enjoy the sound of the pipes being heated via thermal activity which is probably the reason tourists go to Beppu anyway.

Stayed in a traditional Japanese ryokan-style room with breakfast, and was pretty happy with it. The pictures are exactly as shown on the booking site - especially the in-room semi-open air onsen, which was large and traditional (built in stone). The room was also fairly spacious, and the in-room water dispenser was a very helpful addition. Breakfast was absolutely delicious - the culinary team in the hotel do a very good job at creating a balanced yet full breakfast for guests. The breakfasts have a good mix of Japanese and Western-style ingredients, which are super fresh. Location of the property is amazing, as it directly overlooks the sea. Bathing in the rooftop onsen (or the private onsen, which can be booked for a fee) is a wonderful experience, especially in winter. The online pictures of the onsen at sunrise are legitimate - it is the perfect sunset viewing spot!

Nothing much except a few very minor points. Elevator is very small, so the hotel is definitely not catered to big families or groups with many luggages (though I fully respect this). Rooms on lower floors can be slightly lacking in privacy, as it overlooks a public footpath by the beach.

Booked a room with a private bath so that hubby could enjoy the onsen experience with his tattoo. The bath was big and spacious but I did find that the room that housed the private bath smelt a little bit musty being humid (airing it certainly helped). Otherwise the rest of room was spacious, a separate sleeping area with western beds, a separate bathroom that wasn’t the private bath, a “living” room and an entry way - we certainly did not feel cramped. There was also a lovely seating area to catch the sunrise in the morning. The public bath on top of the hotel was also very clean and the view was amazing. We took a room video tour on the trip but no photos so have attached screenshots which doesn’t quite do it justice. The hotel’s location is also quite handy, straight down the line from Beppu station.

The private bath in the room can smell a bit old/musty being wet and humid.

The room was impressive. It was massive, with multiple rooms and ambience. It can easily fit a family of 5 people. The tv was nice as we could use Netflix. The water pressure was a bit low but good enough to have a comfortable bath. We rented one of the private onsen and it was extraordinary, beautiful, private and staff was very nice as we could bring our own food and beverage to enjoy the experience.

There as a city tourist tax payed per day that I didn't know however it was very cheap. I think that for the price we paid for the room, breakfast should have been included although you could purchase breakfast it was a bit overpriced.

We stayed here two nights with no meals. The room was spacious and clean. I like that we had a water server in the room that does cold and hot water. No need to bother with a pot to make green tea. You can pick a yukata of your size. There are lots of eating places nearby and it's about 10-15 mins walk (depending on your walking speed) to Beppu station. The staff were good and professional when we checked in. We left our luggage at the lobby first as we got there before check-in time. When we got back to get our room key, we got told that our luggage has been placed in the room. Now that's good service! Bath is good and the locker room is stocked with amenities. They changed towels every day so that is good too.

Only one lift so the wait can be a little longer during busy times.
