Excellent food, very clean and new decor, specious rooms.

Shuttles were infrequent and filled up quickly. We couldn’t book one for the morning of our check out, and despite it being a short, 5-minute drive, they wouldn’t add another. We ended up walking with our luggage, which left a bad impression.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the facilities are quite clean. All luggage wheels are wiped down by the staff, and guests keep shoes in lockers at the front entrance to keep all common areas clean. The staff went above and beyond to prepare a vegan set dinner meal for my sister and me, which is not part of their usual offerings. We messaged the hotel a few weeks before and were pleasantly surprised by the attention and thought that went into our meal. Our parents had the standard dinner which they also very much enjoyed.

The location is ok -- my family ended up taking a taxi from the Hakone train station. The other options are to take local buses (not all of which are covered on the Hakone free pass), or take the cable car and walk about 5 minutes which isn't a bad option but it doesn't show up on Google maps so we didn't know about this until the staff explained upon arrival. The public onsen is small but peaceful.

Location of this hotel was excellent, only a few minutes walk to the closet cable car station and only one stop away from the Open Air Museum. Note: use the directions listed on the hotel's own website and not Google Maps, as Google lists the wrong station and will have you walk longer. Our booking included included both breakfast and dinner (called half board) and was definitely worth it. Nice not to have to worry about finding a place to eat, and they provide traditional yukatas to wear inside the hotel (recommended to wear to dining as well). The breakfast buffet was amazing, with a combination of traditional Japanese breakfast (my favourite), as well as Western options. The kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner) was also delicious. We did not book a room with a private onsen, but the public onsen was empty when I used it. However, if you are travelling as a couple and would like to use the public onsen together, note that this will not be possible as the onsen are separted by sex, so you would need to book a room with a private onsen if you want to use the onsen together. All the hotel staff were very friendly (translation apps will be necessary unless you can speak Japanese).

Loved being in Hakone Gora. A short stroll to the cable car and well positioned to get around easily by car. Large brand new bedroom room in the new block with a private onsen on the balcony. Super comfy bed. Well equipped bathroom. Lovely comfy lounge area in the reception where we could chill in the evening.

Cozy and comfortable hotel with high attention to the guest’s needs. With two people with gluten allergy they were extremely attentive and for dinner we got speciali created menu with all gluten-free courses, while for breakfast there was a large selection of gluten-free options with all the ingredients well listed. The rooms were very spacious and clean with amazing private onsen overlooking the mountains. Location is amazing, just a 3 minute walk to the cable car station which takes you to all the important and beautiful spots of Hakone! They as well provide shuttle service to Gora and Sounzan station if wanted. Tranquil and peaceful place, great to enjoy the mountains.

Everything was amazing

It is an amazing hotel. The rooms are very large with a tatami area. Our room had open air hot bath (private Onsen) which was a great private relaxation. Breakfast was good and included both Japanese and western food. Dinner was a great chef meal. There are not many options for dinner around, it is recommended to book the dinner when booking the room. it is much more costly when booked seperatly in the hotel. There is a shuttle bus to/from the Gorabtrain stationl, and it is 5 min walk from Naka-Gora cable car station.

We missed some more options to buy coffee, tea etc. there is a small convinient store but it is quite basic.

Having an onsen to ourselves was amazing, and the communal one is not that much bigger than what we had in our balcony. It was an amazing experience for sure. The room is big and the beds were comfy. The dinner was also quite an experience. The yukatas provided by the hotel were a nice extra touch.

During the dinner the only food that our kid was served was a bowl of plain rice and nothing else. When I asked if we could get more food for him, we only got another bowl of plain rice (I would not mind paying for his meal, even though we had dinner included, but apparently that was not an option). That felt very unfair on him. The area around the hotel isn't very walkable, it's all narrow streets, some with no pedestrian walkways, and very steep - so the best option to explore the area is to just use the cable car to get to the top, exploring the village isn't really a great experience.

We wanted a traditional Onsen in our room and for the price, this fit the bill! The hotel was nice and the staff was always friendly. We had the tourist station at Gora call the facility to be picked up by car, otherwise I cant imagine walking from the station to the hotel as it was all up hill! Dinner was good and we feared we wouldn't have enough to eat but it was just the right amount, even when not opting for extras. Breakfast really stole the show with all sorts of wonderful options available! Over all I wished we had a more traditional dining experience but that was the compromise we knew we had going into it with our choice as the priority was a private Onsen in our room.

It seemed that the place in general needed a refresher as some furniture (for example) seemed scratched and worn. Everything was functional but for the price, it should be more immaculate.

The private onsen in our room was great. Facilities were clean and staff was extremely accommodating. Food was excellent and there were options to upgrade. Also appreciated that they made a point not to serve the same courses for dinner as we stayed 2 nights. Samue, yukata, and slippers were all provided. So far staying here was the highlight of our Japan trip.

A little difficult to get ahold of the facility for pickup from the station as we didn't realize our esim plan didn't allow for calling, there wasn't a pay phone at the station, and there's no way to text the facility any other way. We did figure it out eventually. Would've been nice if towels were provided for the public onsen instead of having to grab them from our room.

Great staff. Really helpful and thoughtful. Room with onsen in new building very nice. The view from the room, and the absolutely fantastic reception staff are the standout positives from our experience.

We skipped the tasting menu for dinner - they need more options for guests who want a quick and less formal meal. The local restaurants close very early, some as early as 8pm so be aware choice becomes very limited. Removing shoes in the buildings is fine, but having to remove shoes to walk less than 10 steps to the check in desk on first arrival is not well thought through.
