Breakfast was very good and filling, the dinner was good but nothing too special. All the employees are extremely friendly and accommodating, they even got me some snacks for free when I mentioned I was hungry. There’s less than 20 rooms in the hotel so it felt very private and not crowded at all. I was able to use the public sauna and onsen with no one else there multiple times. The beds were very comfortable and the in room onsen was amazing and perfect touch to our stay.

The dinner was just good, nothing special and I was expecting a bit more.

Phenomenal room, absolutely gorgeous. So many amenities in the room as well as throughout the hotel. I loved the complimentary drink bar in the lobby and the ice cream outside the public onsen. Service throughout was excellent. Every member of the hotel staff exceeded expectations. Very accommodating of solo travelers. I've heard some ryokan are not so accommodating.

There are too many light switches to turn on and off. There needs to be master switch. I found the kaiseki meals to be hit and miss. Some courses were fantastic and some were a little bland for me.

The room is massive—but you probably knew that based on the price tag. Modern, beautiful, Japanese design. Amenities in the room and at the lobby are great. Staff is so kind and helpful. The private outdoor onsen had quite the view. The bedding was very comfortable. There were so many different places to sit and relax. This one room had more to offer than one could do in a single day. Dinner and breakfast were excellent events. Yuki was a fantastic host and conversationalist for both my meals. The food was incredibly delicious, and it was fun taking my time to enjoy each course—and there were many courses.

The room overlooks other residential or hotel properties, so one can’t be too sure it’s okay to be without clothes outside. Though the private onsen was always full of water, it was impossible to make the bath cooler. Onsens are hot, but I would’ve liked to make some adjustments anyway. Although the experience was luxurious, I think it was a considerable amount of money to pay.

The room we stayed in (En) was so spacious, clean and peaceful. The facilities were top notch and the private onsen was amazing! The staff was especially kind and very helpful too. They went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Special thanks to Natsuki for looking after us during dinner and breakfast. She was so kind and showed great professionalism and efficiency tending to us. We learnt so much and hope to stay here again soon!

Everything here is amazing if I could go 11/10 I would ,your own hot spring ,the room has everything you need ,I have never had accommodation with so many in room items at no extra cost,the staff are friendly and helpful,the food is traditional Japanese at a very high standard the Gora area is beautiful and peaceful and the train ride to Gora is incredible

We loved the public and private onsen and had a relaxing stay. They provided all toiletries including quality face cleanser, shampoo/conditioner, even pyjamas. We enjoyed the complimentary bar with beer/wine and hand drip coffee. The Kaiseki dinner was a great experience and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The kaiseki dinner was almost entirely seafood.

The staff were very punctual and accommodating of time for our busy schedules. We had the Kaiseki dinner that was masterfully crafted and delivered. In the morning we need to leave early so we had the western breakfast and it was truly delicious.

We should have stayed longer. Do not rush your stay in Gen Hakone, give yourself time, 2-3 nights to breathe, relax, and unwind.

Beautiful location. Well kept property. Tons of amenities and things within a reasonable distance. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, during meals and whenever we had any questions. The personal hot spring tub was perfect and the view was great. The room was large and had everything we needed. The food and drink options included were all delicious!

The meals were not satisfied… They came with all fish dishes and tastes not that good for this price. If you choose the Western style breakfast, you will only have few things to eat comparing to Japanese style one. Staffs cannot speck English. If you are not a Japanese speaker, please take this as a note. Sometimes Google translate is needed.
