First of all the staff on the day we arrived he was so nice and has a good service mind he provided the clear explanation on the overall services they provided. The access to the accommodation was easy. Unfortunately we didn’t rent the car then we had to walk from the shinano moriue sta. to the hotel with all luggages it took around 10-15 minutes. So I’d recommend to people travel to Hakuba to better rent a car.it would help you a-lot to explore the places. However Uber is also available to access the ski area. The room was well equipped with all high quality facilities and designed giving us the nordic room vibe. So impressive.. We got the room that close to the private onsen and it’s so satisfying to soak in the hot tub after a long snowboarding day. The hotel provided multiple complimentary service eg. late night snacks, drinks etc. very recommended for a couples we were so happy and had a perfect experience towards the hotel and its staff.

The staff were brilliant and very helpful (shout out to Tayla and Tanka). Free amenities included two different private spas along with self-serve local wines. The accommodation was spacious and had cooking and laundry facilities in-room, awesome for light travelers like me. This was my first trip to Hakuba and I did find it a little hard to get around in the evenings as public transport is pretty sparse, plus the huge amounts of snow caused train cancellations and delays, so I had to get our hosts to pre-book taxis for us. There are a couple of restaurants and a 7-Eleven short walks from the hotel so you can stay around the area and not go far. Getting to the hills is easy though, bus stop right out the front to Iwatake and Happo and from either resort you can get an intra-resort shuttle.

Check in was at Square-8, a sign on the front door would have been useful (although this was detailed in the pre-arrival information). Difficulty getting around Hakuba, however this is not really a problem with the hotel per-se. The room can get a little cold - a secondary gas heater is provided but I don't love them.

Loved this hotel, or rather, guest house. Unlike a typical hotel room, the concept of Hakuba Hatago Maruhachi is "home away from home" which is why our room (the smallest they had) was 40-45sqm and included a small kitchen with washer+dryer and cooking appliances. They have 2 private onsen on the property which were amazing (and free!), a stone bath and a 24/7 reception facility at Hakuba Happy Hours where you can grab drinks and hang out - lovely concept! Breakfast is served into your room fridge the day before so you can cook it yourself in the morning, which we really enjoyed (there wasn't much cooking involved, just heating up). The location was also great - a short walk from the best restaurant we've been to in Japan, and you can see the mountains just as you exit the hotel.

We visited in April which is considered off-season (both skiing and summer seasons) by public transport. As such we had a hard time finding a mode of transport around town so it would be great if the hotel had bicycles available to rent for its guests. That being said, our host Ami was most helpful in finding a place we could rent a couple of bikes in town, as well as driving us there+back, and to the train station on our last day! Another con was that the mattresses seemed to be made of rock lol - they had absolutely NO spring/give. However the front desk gave us mattress cushions which solved the issue. Was a bit funny though.

Location and environment where the property is situated is quint.

The unit is on the second floor and the staircase is narrow, making lifting of luggages up inconvenient.

Nice enough.Photos are accurate. Very helpful staff. Room was cold despite 2 AC units, staff brought another heater. Breakfast really sweet. Hotel was nice, yet it was expensive, albeit it was the holiday season and we booked late. Bus service to Iwatake resort was good and reliable. Basically need to use this first and then transfer to a second bus for the different resorts. Snow was great. . About 1.5km, not walkable under any conditions. About half Australian guests, half locals.

Price was high. Breakfast was ok

We had an awesome stay. We were in #3. We love our room! The room upstairs was spacious for a family of 4. Love the extra complimentary services provided during the day and night- free wine, free sake, free food tasting after 7pm. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Snow shuttle buses depart and drop off right at the accomodation.

Taxi is limited in Hakuba. Ask the reception staff to pre-book taxi if needed. Not much food options around but you can purchase food in town.

It was large and spacious

The building we were in had an entrance that could not properly close (due to the snow/ice?) and our ski equipment would be cold if we placed them in our building. The main building had a warmer equipment room, but it was too crowded to place our equipment there. Iwatake is quite hard to get to after the shuttle bus stops operation (~5pm), and dinner options are quite limited if you don’t drive.

Friendly and very helpful staffs with fluent English. Room with full set of kitchen tools.

1. Not clean enough. There are some used cotton buds from other guests on the floor. When we open the door at first, the room smelled like someone just cooked here. Kitchen stove and microwave not clean and smell like cooking oil. This room really needs to be cleaned more. 2. Very poor light. Room was very dark and not enough light. Especially the bedroom.

The property was in an historic village, the building was an old farm storage building that had been renovated with modern bath room while preserving the vintage handcrafted wood work of the original building. Beautiful! The main door was original an a little drafty, but the one heater unit was more than adequate to heat the entire accomadation- actuall had to turn it off at night as the sleeping loft was extremely warm- very happy with this stay. The flowing brook that runs down the street next to the building- soothing and peaceful...

Great location, lovely staff. Amazing facilities, amenities, and rooms were fantastic. The room we stayed in was absolutely fantastic. Alot of privacy between the rooms, the bathroom was spacious and we had a private spa which was the absolute best. Habuka hayago maruhachi was the best place we stayed in throughout our trip in Japan.

My only feedback would be written instructions for the water temperature controls. We were a little confused to why the shower was cold after we accidentally turned off the water temperature controls thinking it was the climate control (air con).
