My favourite place to stay on the mountain. 2 minutes walk from the chairlifts or transfer shuttles. Best is doing stretches on the heated floor while sipping a hot coffee looking out the window watching what’s happening up on the mountain

Booked here to go snowboarding with my wife and kids. It was perfect - we rented the gear direct from the accommodation at a great price. We were 3 minutes walk from the chairlift - couldn't be better. Room had a microwave and fridge, so we were able to eat basic meals. The breakfast was different each day - one day there was porridge with berries, another day there was pancakes, and another there were toasties, or eggs - I'm vegetarian and was well catered for, and usually opted for cereal and toast. All the staff spoke English and were all super helpful. The facilities were great - we were able to dry out the snowboard equipment each night and were able to use the laundry each day. Netflix was available, though we didn't use it much. There is a restaurant on site and there are other dining options nearby though we didn't make much use of this so can't really comment. As it was a bit of a walk to the main part of town, the accommodation provided free transport to the train station, bus port, convenience store, and hot spa. We got picked up and dropped off on time. We had a magical time there and were blessed with more snow, and more powder than I've experienced elsewhere - including my birth country of Switzerland!

When booking we thought we had full access to the kitchen but that wasn't the case. But we made do with the microwave and were provided with bowls, plates, cutlery, cups and so on - it was enough to keep us fuelled up, so no issue.

The staff here are top notch. Kitchen staff provided a hot entree at every breakfast (we were there 6 days) and all were different and very tasty. The room was nicely decorated and had all the amenities we needed. Since we stayed in later March all the restaurants in the area were closed so we were thankful we had a kitchen in our apartment to cook in. Scheduled shuttle to town was very convenient to get to onsen, groceries, etc. Great having skis and apparel for rent for our skiing excursions so we didn't have to bring them from America.

Since restaurants were closed due to it starting to be off season, it would have been nice if the hotel offered some sort of food service for the guests. They did have some dry noodle bowls for purchase if you were in a bind for a meal. Another thing would have been offering the bar for a few hours for apres alcoholic beverages. We plan on returning but will go when things are a bit more lively.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Penke Panke Lodge, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment I inquired about my stay, Justin and the entire staff were incredibly helpful, answering all my questions promptly and enthusiastically. Their warm hospitality set the tone for a wonderful trip. One of the highlights of our stay was how the staff went above and beyond to assist us when our car got stuck in the snow—not once, but twice! They were quick to lend a hand with cheerful attitudes, ensuring we felt supported and taken care of during those challenging moments. The lodge itself exudes a cozy, homely feel that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail and the well-run operations were evident throughout our stay. It’s clear that the team at Penke Panke Lodge genuinely cares about their guests and strives to create a welcoming environment. If you’re looking for a charming getaway with exceptional service, look no further than Penke Panke Lodge. I can’t wait to return!

If the lodge had it's own onsen, that would have been a big bonus.

Great stay, staff is super friendly and helpful, they can give you recommendations on where to eat and which slope to enjoy. Use the shuttle service to go out as the lodge is a bit far from the main streets where the restaurants are. Otherwise you have between 25-30 min of walk Room was a bit small even for solo traveler. There is an onsen in the shared bathroom which is really great to enjoy after an exhausting ski day. Breakfast has a different warm meal everyday so remember to ask for yours, it was super good!

It is a nice, clean place with new furniture and appliances. The location is very good, close to the slopes. They offer a shuttle service to and from the station and a few other places every evening which is very convenient. They also have their own rental shop. I would like to especially say a big thank you to Archie who was extremely kind, helpful and professional. He really made us feel welcome!

We had a room with a shower and even though it was nice and modern with floor heating, the shower itself was very disappointing as the water pressure was extremely low and it wasn’t hot enough. The shared bathroom downstairs is very small and a bit uncomfortable to share with strangers.

Nice staff. 3 minute walk to the Sakka lift. Snowboard/Ski rentals in the lodge are very reasonably priced and convenient. Excellent restaurant (called hybrid) next door. Hot breakfast in the morning for a quick bite and meeting other travelers. Large and welcoming living-room-like common area for socializing. Clean. Fun decor. Staff will drive you to the bus station upon arrival and departure. Evening rides for shopping/dinner/onsen. Nice onsens at hotels about a 15 minute walk away. Convenient gear storage room.

The bus terminal is about a 30 minute walk away, so a car is helpful during evening hours when the public shuttles are not running. I believe there are direct buses (from Sakka or nearby hotel) to the nearby resorts like Hakuba 47 and Iwatake, but the Hakuba Valley Shuttle does not stop nearby - except at the Tokyu Hotel 3 times a day - so getting to resorts like Cortina takes longer because you have to first take a bus to the Bus Terminal.

Very close to the lifts (about 150m) and close to the shuttle bus. The rooms were very nice with a small onsen in the hotel. They had two drying rooms which meant there was always space to dry ski gear. Breakfasts were different each morning and freshly made

Ski rental gear was a little dated but still good quality. A little bit out of town (20 minutes) but not really an issue as the hotel provides a shuttle bus

Breakfast was included in our stay. Hot breakfast are made to order, so there is a little room for cunstomization. My friend was vegetarian so that was great to have. The area is great for walking- beware though that its on quite steep uphill climb- they have bikes for rent (for free) (and if you're not a seasoned uphill climber, you can request for a pickup- if they are available or walk the bike back up). All the rooms are bit different so room sizes vary but it was a quite comfortable stay. They also offer to drop you off (because its really hard to get around without a car- though you could try biking :) ) and you can grab a taxi back - from the closest town- its only a few minutes Taxi ride. They have larger rooms for families, and you can borrow their kitchen (since there are limited places to eat nearby). The room has a refrigerator so you can store some food there and you can use the kitchen to make meals from scratch or heat up your food. Hitomi was amazing, and made our check in experience great- she also recommended places to eat and visit.

Bathroom size ( it was a weird cut- not really square or octagonal) was a little strange and the sink was tiny but honestly it wasn't unmanageable or a big issue. They are a bit far from any convenience store (by that I mean not walking distance) but you can pick up groceries when you're in town :)

Staff were lovely and accomodating. Breakfast next door simple but good range of food to set you up for a day on the slopes (daily hot breakfast too on rotation). Able to order dinner takeaway from the restaurant and eat in the lodge which was great! Communal area was nice to sit and wind down.

Was aware of shared bathroom facilities upon booking, but wasn’t aware how “shared” they actually were (onsen style). This didn’t bother me, however a heads up for future guests :)) Single bedroom quite a tight fit where extra hooks on door/wall would be beneficial.
