Most visitors would probably spend the day on the marvelous Itsukushima island, but there is no accommodation close to the station/ferry boat in Miyajima. This hotel is one of the closest to the boats which is an essential asset. Walking to the ferry boat is possible, it takes roughly 15 min, but the sidewalk is very narrow and the traffic intense... The hotel has an excellent solution : a shuttle van! Attention: the name on the van says "Route Inn", not Grandviro. Cherry on the cake: if you wait for this van at the hotel, just take place in their nice waiting corner facing the bay, with free beverages. Bravo! Very clean room. The bed is perfect as is the bathroom/shower/bathtub. Perfect lift too. There is a 7-Eleven on the other side of the street at the traffic lights and a good udon noodles restaurant a 10 min stroll away heading to the station.

Limited space for clothes (which is common in Japan) and the lights are managed from the bedside table, not from the entrance (aslo common in Japanese hotels).

We arrived mid-evening along with my Japanese friend. Upon arrival we were told meals needed to be booked 2 days in advance - somewhat unfortunate as we were only there for 2 days! I looked back on the listing and this was not stated. My friend was quite distressed by this and I was not thrilled when we ended up at nearby McDonalds!!! Fortunately we had booked a bed and breakfast option avoiding the stress of finding breakfast too. Breakfast was a buffet and we had a wide choice of food, starting with a bento box and choices as varied as chicken supreme, ice cream, soup, rice and eggs. We enjoyed breakfast but it was more like a lunch for us! The quality was very good. There was a free drinks bar for soft drinks, tea and coffee. Kimonos to choose from for use in the hotel and of course the onsen. We braved the naked bathing and actually it was fine and we returned the following evening. The hotel was clean, our room with a view of the water was comfortable and had ample seating for the family to gather together. Arriving ahead of time we made the queue for the complimentary shuttle to the station - it was popular! We warmed up to this hotel but would say that it is not particularly geared up to western travellers ( not that they should have to be) but signage was in Japanese only with many staff not speaking any English though one did whip out a translation app. I was grateful to be travelling with a Japanese speaker and grown up children who were tech savvy. Would I return? Yes but partly because I now understand how the hotel works and I would book my meals ahead pretty confident that they would be good having already had breakfast there.

An almost perfect stay. The view to Miyajima Island is pretty cool to see when you walk into the lobby. My husband enjoyed the open air onsen and the sauna. Apparently, it has an unobstructed view out to the ocean. I wasn't feeling too great but it looks amazing. The female bathroom has extra security going in and from the outside, there is a privacy hedge. There is also a huge variety of amenities that you receive in both your room and near the onsen entrance.

We just had a problem that in our two night stay, we couldn't visit the hotel restaurant on either night as it was already fully booked when we checked in.

Lovely onsen, one of the nicest. Bikes loan very appreciated. Lovely extras and amenities. Top floor lounge has a wonderful view and is peaceful. Next door ‘oyster shack’ amazing !

Onsen lighting could be dimmed at night in the women’s onsen Dinner was often not available, which was unfortunate The shuttle person does not stand in an obvious spot so we did not realise we should have looked for him and walking to the property from the train station when we could not get a cab was somewhat difficult.

Some staff could speak English well, and everyone was very accommodating about our limited Japanese. The free yukata use was a nice touch, as was the availability of free drinks and ice lollies. We also used the hotel shuttle to the train station, and the hotel boat to Miyajima. The views of Miyajima from the hotel were great, though if you're staying on the mountain view side of the hotel you may see more car park than mountain. We were given fresh towels every day, including when we had the "do not disturb" sign up.

The room was a little small, which is something to bare in mind if you have large suitcases as they are keen to clean the room every day. If you're staying a few days and you don't have a car consider your food options - the hotel restaurant has to be booked (we didn't do this so can't say what it's like). Otherwise in a 5 - 10 min walking radius there's a Gusto family restaurant (very cheap!), oysters, ramen, a konbini... otherwise walk to the station. The walk is safe, but it is along a busy road.

Short walk to the ferry. Amazing sea view, worth paying extra for it. Used laundry facillites, very good. Free parking convenient. Smoking areas on most floors. Breakfast incredible for dish lovers. Really incredible bento boxes plus buffet.

Car park was hard to pull out from, have to wait a while. Busy road. Breakfast pointless for one of us, only fish/salad/egg based food. A bit of cereal of even plain bread to toast would have been nice, but hey, we're in japan, can't expect western breakfast. Great service and views though.

Let's be honest, there is nothing to do in miyajima-guchi except going to miyajima island, it is in the name. For a one day trip this hotel is absolutely worth it with the free deserts and drinks, beautiful views and Yokata borrowing experience, the downsides are: no onsen was hot (although they were beautiful) they do not allow you to use any hotel facilities (onsen and bike borrowing) after checkout.

The room was nice and clean, the public bath was big and also had outside bath facing the sea which you can see the nice view. We had only dinner (for two days) but all food each night was delicious! Everything is nicely organized and not too much service which gives us calm relaxing time. I could see many ideas they’re trying to make customers feel comfortable. Also free bus from the hotel to the nearest train station was helpful.

Free drink area was closed at 23:00. I hope it is open for all day and they could serve hot green tea too!

Highly recommend a stay here for access to Miyajima Island and Hiroshima. A particular highlight was this property's onsen baths - not just a lovely experience, but also wonderfully well-supported by staff, with amenities galore (even a shampoo bar!). Beautiful views, doable access thanks to the shuttle to the train station, and spacious rooms. Only wish I could have stayed longer!

The spa is sensational. Spacious room. Fashionable yukata provided. Nice terrace with a view. Beautiful restaurant with a view. Breakfast is deep and tasty, with nice Bento with daily selection. Many drinks and snacks are available for guests free of charge.

The bathroom is small and overall not that great. The position is great view wise but on the other side you have a pretty busy street, so not a pleasant walk there if you are not travelling by car.
