This is a traditional-style Japanese hotel. Upon entering the room it was set up as a living room. While we were eating dinner, the staff set up the beds. Dinner was a lovely multi-course meal that neither my mom nor I could eat all of. Breakfast was similarly plentiful. I enjoyed soaking in the bath after bathing. The beds were comfortable. The location was away from the touristy area so it was quiet and calm. The staff was quite helpful and friendly. They called the taxi for us in the morning as well as called them back when it did not arrive on time. The staff was equally worried about us missing our ferry and follow-up connections.

The location can be challenging to find, especially at night. It is also a fair walk from the ferry port. While it was fine for us, this place is NOT wheelchair friendly as the rooms are upstairs, no elevator.

We stayed one night at this lovely ryokan in Miyajima, and it was an excellent choice. It's at about a 10-minute walking distance from the town and the ferry station, with a beautiful surroundings and far from the noisy streets. The place is very well kept and clean, the rooms were spacious, with very comfortable tatami mattresses, and have a private sink and toilet. The showers are shared. Staff were very pleasant, and they prepared us an excellent japanese style breakfast, the best we had during our 15-day stay in Japan! If I ever visit again beautiful Miyajima, I would repeat my stay at Mizuhaso for sure.

The private almost cauldron like baths were amazing after a day of walking! The rooms were small but well equipped. First time with futons so it took a bit of getting used to. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful as I wanted to sneak out early the next morning to take photos. Place is at the other end of strip once you get off the ferry but you get to wander through the shopping street and past the shrine on your way to the hotel. We were only staying one night so we sent our baggage on and only bought a day pack. Would recommend doing this so you;re not dragging your suitcases all the way from the ferry terminal.

Rooms are not he small side and futons were quite hard.

Our stay at Mizuhasou was amazing! The staff was so welcoming and nice! It‘s a 20min walk further down the island when getting off the pier, but the location is so much quiter there. Nevertheless it’s really close to the Torii gate and the Shrine. We got there an hour before check-in so we were given the opportunity to leave our bags behind. When we came back after a stroll our luggage was in our room already. We had a traditional Japanese-style room with really comfortable Futon beds. The bathrooms were next door with those traditional tubs to soak in. And the food! Wow! Just wow. We never had a ryokan-style dinner and breakfast but they gave us plenty. All fresh, handmade and local dishes. And really nice to look at. It‘s definitely worth it! Higher recommended!

Fantastic stay - traditional rooms were spacious and very comfortable, private use of communal bath was a real treat (one of few times we could bathe together as a male/female couple) and both dinner and breakfast were delicious and wonderful dining experiences. Highly recommend!

Small, brand new, cozy ryokan. While keeping the beauty of a ryokan (small welcome sweet, tea, yukata, bath kit, etc.), this facility primarily for foreign tourists and makes efforts for their comfort. It's charming and very well caters to the global tourists' needs. - Goemon baths are very nice for the comfort of individual/family use, while keeping the traditional bath style. - Little shared space to eat, relax, chat is very handy.

Some rooms are quite small, although rather normal on a Japanese standard, but as it is so competitive to find a decent (and affordable) place to stay, this is a good compromise. But, as the number of hotel rooms are so limited on the island, it remains still rather expensive. - We asked for water (which was made available in the room, once checked in) but they would not want us to use their bathroom to fill our water bottles, which I found strange. - We did not get to try dinner because 'it was not possible that night.' If there are particular nights we cannot order dinner, it should be mentioned when we reserve, so that we don't pick the wrong days of the week.

Restaurant is on the first floor, clean and spacious rooms on the upper floors with private toilets, and large lockable shower with baths. Staff knows very limited English but very nice and accommodating, friendly homey feel. Our stay came with a very big breakfast, choice of Japanese or western style.

It's quite a long walk from the ferry (20 mins) and not great if you have many luggages (sand/rocky roads along the way and some uphills). However the location gets us to explore the less crowded areas of the island, and different views of the famous tori gate.

I'm so glad we stayed on the island! The night walk around the island was one of my favorite experiences of my trip. The dinner and breakfast were one of the best meal experiences I've had in Japan. I highly recommend adding the meal packages if you stay here! The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Everything was also clean and comfortable. Staying at Mizuhasou was definitely worth it!

It's just ever so slightly far from the island's main attraction.

- I really appreciate that on my special request, the staff made both the dinner and breakfast without fish or seafood - Excellent quality, plentiful meals - It is at a really silent area, close to the departure point to the hiking routes. You can listen to the cicadas from the neighborhood - Room was really clean and reasonably spacious - You can have the traditional Japanese bath experience

- In order to help the staff, you really need to know your schedule for your meals and bath time - If you need to carry and can't roll your luggage, it's a bit distant from the ferry

Perfect location to spend a good weekend in the amazing Miyajima. We could enjoy our comfortable room and japanese style bathroom! Regarding the breakfast, you can choose between japanese style and western style. We choose the western style, it was tasty and very rich even if a little bit different compared to the usual western breakfast. Staff is very kind and they can speak some English. Overall, Mizuhaso is totally recommended.
