This place is a must stay if you are spending the night in the magical Miyajima Island. It's a traditional japanese inn with everything you need and more, it's a short walk from the ferry station and far from the crowds, but the hotel also provides a shuttle bus for guests that is super covenient. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a very peaceful view of the sea and the cute deers, and with futon beds that were really comfortable. The food was really good, both dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend to get these meals, not only for the whole experience but also for the convenience since the places in the city closes very early. The hotel also have an onsen, for women and men, ping pong table, hammock and a souvenir shop. Also I cannot forget to mention about the amazing and kind staff, from the reception to the drivers that took us to the city thank you so much for everything. We wished we have stayed one more day to enjoy more this place.

Nothing, everything was just perfect.

Although the location is a bit far from the tourist sites, it is situated in the quieter side of the island. The view from our room was beautiful and we love the Kaiseki lunch and breakfast provided. The service provided by the staff was excellent. They also provided shuttle bus to fetch us when arrive early so that we could offload our luggage while we explore the island.

It was a bit far for us to get to the Itsukushima Shrine and the floating Torii gate on foot. Thankfully the hotel provides shuttle bus service from the hotel to the ferry terminal and back and so it wasn’t so much of an issue.

This ryokan is excellent. A must visit for the experience. Great location and large rooms. Free deer to pet outside the hotel! It’s like having Nara on your doorstep.

The Japanese dining experience. It’s a Japanese tasting menu. As a westerner it’s not to my pallet as a gaijin but I gave it a bash. The dinner is great but the Japanese breakfast I just couldn’t touch it. No fault of the hotel. I’m just used to eating my typical for breakfast which normally involves continental or porridge. Also turning 36 means sleeping on futons can leave you with a sore back. Again Asian cultures like a firm bed setting. Great for 1 night but I wouldn’t stay more than that.

For an authentic Japanese experience Miyajima Seaside Hotel is the place to stay. Wonderful friendly staff and charming amenities. We had dinner and breakfast included which was lovely. Beautiful views from both suites overlooking the beach and watching the deer roam on hotel grounds and eagles flying overhead. Really a delightful place to stay. Really impressed with the pick up and drop off service. Best hospitality staff I have ever experienced! Kind, considerate and very respectful. Myself and my son were a little unwell after being in the sun all day and the staff were so so kind and helpful. Vending machines were available, Japanese and western food available, activities for kids, gift shop.

There was nothing I didn’t like about the property, it really was a great place to stay and experience Japanese culture.

- staff were the biggest bonus to this accommodation. So helpful and friendly. Nothing was a hassle. Felt like they gave us a traditional Japanese stay and treatment which was amazing! - big comfortable rooms. Staff delivered our evening meal in our rooms then following this came in to make up our beds. - Very peaceful location but staff were so helpful at picking up our luggage prior to check in. Then picking us up when requested from the information centre at the ferry pier. And then again dropping our luggage off to us at the pier after check out when we had already left the hotel. - if you ever wondered if it’s worth staying in Miyajima overnight, it absolutely is and definitely worth it at this hotel!!

Nothing - it was great!

Loved how peaceful it was. Right on the sea, and they had flip flops, and mats to use for this. It’s a traditional room, and was very comfortable. The dinner was lovely and allowed us to try foods we wouldn’t have access to. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They picked us up from the ferry port, and took us back later at night so we could see the shrine lit up. It was a very relaxing place to be and I’d recommend staying here

As a heads up: It’s slightly away from the main area,(we wanted this) but others might want to be closer.

The courtesy and service by the staff is outstanding. From the moment we arrived at Miyajima to the moment we left, the warm service is very personable. One of the staff came to meet us at the pier to collect our bags so we can sight see hands free. They then collected us from the pier when we were tired and ready to check in. The views from the room was spectacular - lovely sea views with mountains, islands, and deer roaming around in the garden. The food served at dinner and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. The futon and doona was comfortable. The aircon kept the room comfortable. The public bath was also really great to sooth sore muscles. They also dropped off our bags at the pier so that we can sight see hands free before leaving the island. It was our first experience of a ryokan style accomodation and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

There was nothing that we did not like. Worth knowing that it is an older style hotel which we thought was really charming and really added to the whole experience.

All of the staff were outstanding, just fabulous throughout our stay - very discrete, but often anticipating what you needed before you realised you needed it. And happy to share helpful info and history about the island and local area. The traditional Japanese style bedroom with a sea view was great too.

Not much to say here - the food felt quite traditional Japanese, and with lots of seafood, which wasn't entirely to our taste, but to be fair we knew that would be the case when we booked, and the staff were very flexible in terms of swapping out any dishes that we weren't too keen on.

The food. I thought I wouldn't be able to go wrong with hotel food in a place like this in Japan but unfortunately it wasn't as fresh as I was expecting.. It seemed to be your typical hotel quality food the quality of which you would expect in the USA or in Europe, at an average quality hotel.. Although the dishes were clearly authentic, the ingredients looked like they had been frozen and thawed, the feeling that this was your typical hotel you might expect for a hotel that's mostly catering to awesterner who didn't know any better The breakfast seemed better than the actual dinners, but still mediocre, and even a little off putting.

Wonderful stay at the Miyajima Seaside Hotel for our 25 wedding anniversary. We chose the 1/2 board option that included a traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. It was our first time staying in a traditional Japanese hotel and found it very charming. The tatami floors, the wonderful food and the ocean views made our stay perfect. The hotel is about a 10 minute ride from the ferry terminal but they offered to pick up our luggage on arrival so we could walk around unencumbered. They also offered shuttles in the evening to view the Itsukushima Shrine at night and they took us back to the ferry when we left. Great service, the staff were super nice and helpful. I forgot an item in my room and they graciously sent it to me at my next hotel.
