This little hotel is the perfect place for a short stay in Miyajima . I left Kyoto in the morning for Hiroshima and after spending 3 hours exploring the Hiroshima Peace Park memorials, the Museum and the Loop Bus . After seeing all the main sights in a few hours all I took a local train 30 minutes to the island of Miyajima. This place definitely deserves an overnight stay and a much nicer place to stay than in the city of Hiroshima. I arrived early afternoon via a 10 minute ferry ride from the main land, walked 100m to the hotel and dopped off my luggage. I then headed directly for the free shuttle bus to the Mt Misen ropeway , buying my return tickets at the last shop on the left before taking the bus. At the ropeway entrance I then passed everyone in line and got straight onto the ropeway . Its 2 separate rides to the top of the mountain and then the best view is to the left as you exit the ropeway . After 15 minutes at the top I took the ropeway down the mountain. I then had time to visit both the Buddhist temple and the Shinto Shrine and by this time most of the day trippers had left the island so I could enjoy the Tori Gate without the crowds. At night its also illuminated ans early in the morning its also very mystical. Behind the small village is also a Cherry Blossom fairyland of pale pink flowers complete with deer quietly eating the blossoms that have fallen to the ground - this is also illuminated at night time. I was the only person enjoying the peacefulness of this magical secret garden early in the morning. The hotel itself is simple but has everything you need. Its safe, quiet, clean, comfortable, well located, affordable and has an onsen in the basement. My large room room had a view of the water, a small bathroom but there was also a larger shower room on my floor that was optional to use. I had a kettle, TV, PJs, toothbrush , hairdryer, and a very comfortable bed on tatami mats. The staff will happily recommend places to eat for dinner and serve a

Such a handy location. Bascally just down the road from the ferries and a couple mins walk from the tori gate. Had a free public bath on the bottom floor that was nice to use. Very friendly and helpful staff and the rooms were nice and clean. Sleeping on futons was uncomfortable the first night but 2nd night was fine. Think just because we werent used to futons.

Wish there was a shower in the room. There were shared shower room cant remember what floor it was on but my 2 young kids refused to use them. That was the only negative in the whole place though and wouldnt be a problem for most people

We had a room overlooking the ocean wIth great views - with a balcony where we could sit and relax while enjoying the ocean and the sunset. The room was a traditional Japanese room with tatami and futon, which enhanced the experience! The location of the hotel was a mere 5 - 10 minute walk from the ferry, directly on the main road leading through town. On our way out the next morning, while at breakfast my wife asked a worker to fill her water bottle with hot water, which she gladly agreed to do. A few minutes later, forgetting about the water bottle, we left for the ferry. While sitting at the station waiting for the next ferry, the lady came running up (and I mean running) to return the now full water bottle. Needless to say the staff was great!

The Japanese style room was excellent - good amount of space and great view over the bay back towards Hiroshima. Location was near ferry, convenience store, restaurants, and common walking areas. The staff was always very kind and accommodating. The island itself is amazing!

They use a dual router setup on each floor for wifi, which results in spotty range and bandwidth. The public bath was very clean, but felt small and didn't have some extra touches like shower dividers or lotions. That said, I haven't experienced too many public baths, and may have too high of expectations from APA Hotels.

This hotel is situated right on the coastal promenade, a short walk from the famous 'floating' torii gate of Miyajima. The hotel is a lovely mix of 1970s aesthetics (when I presume it was built) and traditional Japanese accoutrements. It has its own Onsens for men and women, the staff were always friendly and helpful, and there were tea making facilities in the room.

As an older property (of the modern age at least), it is starting to look slightly worn around the edges. But for me this, coupled with the authentic low furniture in our room, and the separate shower rooms on their own floor of the hotel, just added to the overall charm of the place.

Wonderfully spacious room and a separate tatami mat room. Sea views across to Hiroshima & Miyajima forest from our window. Comfortable bed. Lovely shower in the shower room. It felt peaceful here. On arrival we were saturated but still warmly welcomed in the lobby! Great base to explore Miyajima from. We were a bit late sorting out our dinner and ended up buying food from the convenience store down the road which we were grateful was still open!

The auto toilet lid kept raising every time we walked in to use the bathroom sink. When we closed it, it would just re-open even though we did not require the use of the toilet.

Location. Miyajima was a highlight, but really because you had the window in the morning and evening when you had it to yourself. It was actually fun with the crowds during the day. Most visitors were Japanese tourists. Hotel is right beside the ocean and within 100m of the ferry terminal - so very convenient. Room was quiet - I believe we were in the only room on our floor that did not have a view of the ocean, so more away from the busy street - a negative and a plus. I liked the peacefulness of our room. Convenient laundry facilities on the floor. Staff were very friendly.

If you have to critiques something - Bathroom was small, but on the positive side, we didn't have to share it.

Staying in the traditional room in such a beautiful location was a highlight of our trip. The futons were so comfortable that we think ithey were the most comfortable beds of the whole trip. Our room had a balcony overlooking the sea. Everyone was very friendly there. They gave us a map of great restaurant recommendations. We had a shower in the room, but I also used the public bath downstairs which was very relaxing. We stayed two days and wished we could have stayed longer. The location is very close to the ferry terminal and the Tori gate. It’s also close to the only convenience store on the island (which was handy for snacks since most restaurants closed early.)

Nothing. Everything was great for us.

Location: It's very close to the ferry terminal. Access to all the shopping on the island is quite literally a few steps away. Stay: The hotel is modern and renovated. The receptionist spoke excellent English. There's a bar serving hot drinks and alcohol in the lobby. The coffee was very good. I got very lucky and had the sea view room on the 4th floor. The room itself was very large, the biggest room I've stay in Japan so far at an amazingly affordable price too. Beds were comfortable and they had 2 pillows per bed. Bathroom was large and modern, didn't look like the typical unit baths most hotels have. The couch was very comfortable, I have to find out where it's from so I can get one myself. It was amazing relaxing, eating and drinking as the sun slowly set. It very much worth a stay as you get to experience the island without the crowds of people during the day time. I'm glad I decided to stay; I wish I could've stayed another night!

Excellent location. Quiet but very convenient. Toilet in room. Quite a few rooms shared a communal bathroom but never seemed to have a problem. Small but very inexpensive breakfast but not on the weekend. Stay a few nights as Miyajima VERY crowded in the morning & all day. It’s wonderful in the early morning & later in the evening. 7/11 (or similar) very close. Can eat there VERY cheaply. Microwave to heat food & seating upstairs. Apparently a beautiful island walk & a cable car. We didn’t do it. Loved Miyajima!
