It was in a nice location and it was very well kept.
Nothing really. The staff was lovely and attentive and it felt like we were really being taken care of. The kaiseki meal was beautifully prepared and presented however I don’t think it was our taste. Not because of the facility but for personal flavor preference. But the breakfast was delightful and delicious!

2 specific things to compliment: The shuttle service to and from restaurant of choice in town is very considerate for guest who do not choose dining in hotel. This together with the whatsapp servicing channel that they provide makes the dinner experiencevery easy Great concept with the onsen arrangement. Instead of one big public bath, 8 private onsens are available for guests to book in 45 mins sessions. It provides a much more pleasant and exclusive experience, definitely a selling point at this price point. We tried no. 2 and 4 and 6. Number 2 is the biggest outdoor one and highly recommended.

We chose this hotel for the private onsens choices, and they turned out to be very easy to book. We tried all the indoor and outdoor onsens that we were interested in. For families that do not want to get in an onsen together (most of the pools are small), the staff at the front desk will help you book additional onsens at no extra cost. The staff members can speak perfect English and Mandarin Chinese, which we greatly appreciate.
Be ware of mosquitos around the outdoor onsens at night. But that is not the hotel's fault.

I would say that the staff was exceptional 20 out of 10. They went out of their way to be nice and helpful. We liked the private onsens, too - especially the indoor ones. We loved the juices and things served at the lobby area. Kaiseki dinner could have been better for the price but it was a good experience. We had informed the hotel that we were there to celebrate out mom and our son's birthday and they gave us (5people) a complimentary bottle of wine. That was a nice touch. We booked two identical rooms and they felt massive compared to the hotels we stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto. The rooms were clean. We did the futon style (sleeping on the floor) and our backs didn't hurt at all. The location was a walking distance (10mins) to the town of Arima which was charming. The cable car near by was unexpectedly great.
The place needed upgrading. But it definitely had it's charm.

Do not change a thing! Everyone and everything were perfect! From the convenient and prompt communication with the hotel staff on WhatsApp to the staff greeting us at the entrance, and the farewell gesture of a staff member who waited for our shuttle van to disappear before bowing as the road curved, it was magical! We want to extend our apologies for our lack of Japanese etiquette, for not being on time, and for any other courtesy mistakes we may have overlooked; we sincerely didn't mean to offend, and we will continue to learn more about the beautiful and memorable Japanese culture and etiquette, and hope that they will allow us to be welcomed back next time!
There wasn't anything we disliked. We loved every bit of our stay!

The staff were so welcoming and attentive to the guest needs. They even brought us some fresh fruit to welcome us to their establishment. The facilities were incredibly clean. The bed, bedding and pillows were comfortable. They offered you a shuttle to go anywhere in the onsen town you wanted until 9:00pm. They picked us up from Arima Onsen Station when we arrived. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well. We had a silver spring in our room which we enjoyed multiple time per day and were able to book private outdoor hot springs available on the property. My finacé and I were both able to use the golden hot springs together comfortably. There were also other local things to do and they provided us with a map of the area. This was the most relaxing stay we’ve ever bad. The hot springs did wonders for our muscle and aches as well as our skin concerns. Our room was so modern and chic. They even allowed us to schedule our cleaning service when it was convenient for us. They provided us with kimonos to wear around the property or even in town if we wanted. No other property will be able to top this stay. We’ll be back when we return Japan.

We had a wonderful stay at Arima Onsen Taketoritei Maruyama. The hot springs were fantastic and incredibly relaxing. We especially loved the in-room onsen, which made the experience even more private and special. The private hot spring rooms were also serene and well-maintained. The staff were extremely helpful, attentive, and polite, making us feel welcome from start to finish. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings made it a perfect retreat for our whole family. This was truly a relaxing holiday, and we highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for an authentic and rejuvenating onsen experience in Arima.

The staff are exceptional. They made a lot of effort to introduce us to the hotel and its facilities. The private onsen was easy to book and the spaces were hygenic. The shuttle bus was a boon because we were able to get to the town and the ropeway easy enough. Loved the dinner and breakfasts too, again exceptional staff there to explain dishes to us.
We were recommended to an eatery but despite a reservation, had to wait for half an hour in the cold. The izakaya was small and we were moved from table to the bar counter. It was a tight squeeze. This place should not be recommended again.

Excellent service and staff. The private onsen rooms were wonderful and easy to book. We used the outdoor ones which were beautifully designed and quiet with fresh air. We also enjoyed the spacious suite that we stayed in which also had its own bath. The tatami room and futons were a nice touch. The property has a mini-bus shuttle to take us to points in town when we didn’t feel like walking or had luggage. Be sure to book kaiseki meals at the restaurant or try the in-room breakfast. The food is delicious.

we really enjoyed the warmest hospitality and was really amazed by how all staff went beyond our expectations even on tiny requests that we made. There are private baths available for booking, 45 mins per slot, this place is perfect for couples, honeymooners and those seeking privacy at a reasonable price. All indoor and outdoor private onsen are beautifully decorated, we particularly loved the golden hot spring! Dinner was amazing and the Chief Chef never fail to surprise us, we looked forward to our dinner every night. Each party has a designated private room for dinning and meals were served by the same member of staff, we enjoyed chatting with the friendly staff members :) We had a really wonderful time and we can’t wait to come back again!! Thank you once again for the warmest hospitality and for the unforgettable Japanese onsen experience ❤️
if we must make a suggestion, it would be great to have wechat or whatsapp to arrange free shuttle service as we didnt have a working Japanese number for calls. But the locals are also very friendly and wouldnt mind helping us make the phone calls to the hotel to have it arranged. :)
