Almost everything was excellent! We used the private onsen bath a lot - this is a perl of the hotel. Also we walked in yukatas that they provided to us in the city, it was a lovely expérience. The breakfast is fulfilling. The house looks very cozy and traditional. The location is the best. Overall very welcoming feeling. We would stay again.

Small details to consider to improve: add small plates and spoons in apartments. My pillow had some plastic tubes, that made it very uncomfortable, so I replaced it with the floor pillow - maybe provide a normal pillow for the choice to sleep on.

Nice space for our family of 4 to stay in. Excellent location, quiet yet close to many shops and restaurants. Although it did not have a functioning spa when we stayed there, they provided vouchers for the public spas and it was a much more affordable option than the hotels with private spas. Plus my wife and I paid for a 1-hour private spa at one of the other hotels which worked out much cheaper overall than staying there.

Beds padding is okay but not as comfortable as some other ryokans we stayed at. It would be nicer if the hotel had their own spa as an option since the public baths are quite busy.

So this hotel is located right next door to the Tenjin hot spring source. It’s very close to the Kin no Yu hot springs. There are 2 ways to walk to the hotel from the bus stand one involves climbing stairs which is shorter. There is a slightly longer route still walkable in 10 minutes, without stairs, as well. Best to pack light. The property itself is beautiful with the sweetest lady at the front desk. They don’t have an onsen in house but they give you free coupons for the public baths. The rooms are relatively large Japanese style rooms with tatami floors. The room had a large traditional looking bath with regular water as well. Breakfast was splendid. Be prepared to sit on the floor though.

The location is very interesting. It's located right in the middle of the town, so we could get to the main tourist street in a minute. It also took us only 2 minutes to walk to the Gin onsen. The room is spacious. At least we have room to open 2 carry-on luggages without any problem. The room we stayed in included a private bathtub, which is nice for us on the night we arrived that both public bathes are closed. Although the water was just regular hot water. The shower is nice, has good water pressure, and has good quality shampoo conditioner. We arrived late, and the host waited for us to check in. Check-in and check-out process is easy and quick. You can also ask for more towels to go to the public bath.

Although the location is not far from the train/bus stations, there are lots of stairs to the to the hotel unless you know the way to navigate around the place. We wish we had known earlier. on the day we arrived, we carried our luggage through all those stairs was no joke, pretty rough. The sink is quite small and didn't have hot water. It was very cold to wash hands and the water splash everywhere. We had to sacrifice one of the towels to dry our hands.

Great location! Property was quietly tucked away from the main street but still only a 3 min walk to Hankyu Bus Station where the main street was as well. Very convenient. Dai, the lady who worked there was so helpful and hospitable. She came to pick us up from the street where we got off the taxi as we were a little lost from the cable car station to the town. I had booked a quadruple room for myself and my 6 years old son. The room was fabulous and comfortable - a balcony, good size deep bathtub, separate shower and toilet. The breakfast (paid with the room) was a spread and so tasty as well!

The one staff member at the front desk was the sweetest woman we've met! She replied to my messages almost immediately. She was always happy to support anything we needed and even gave my partner some extra birthday breakfast the next morning. It was quiet and relaxing throughout the night too. The room was also very huge and we had an excellent view of the village. For the price we paid, I don't think anything could beat this!

I thought the building itself was a little old, but nothing that was jarring or off. Please be aware that if you don't have good knees or you're coming with lots of luggage, this place may not be the best because there are quite a lot of stairs to get to the top.

Our first stay in Japanese ryokan was a great expirience. Wood, tatami, futons, japanese garden, free yukatas, beautiful pottery made by famous Kyoto artist. Separated large bathtub and shower. Free tickets to Gin and Kin onsens! Arima is a very beautiful place!

Old air condition that make strange noises. Garden under construction. Enterance not signed properly. Advice: Stairs to ryokan are located between bus station and restaurant. If you travel with suitcases you may take another route up by the main street.

Staff was very friendly and super helpful! Room was spacious and honestly a great deal for the price. Plus they even gave us onsen coupons and helped us book a nice restaurant for after. Great staff and breakfast was good as well. It is literally only a 5 min walk to the onsen and the shops below.

Only thing that I didn't like is that they had no big slippers for me. Hotel has you take off your shoes but the slippers are all japanese sizes. Not a big deal but just would like a slipper my size.

The entire stay was wonderful and quite affordable for a ryokan that includes two meals. There was a small misunderstanding with dinner so everyone ended up with vegetarian meals but it was so delicious. The little garden out front was well maintained and beautiful. We were right next to a small temple where you can see the steam coming off of the spring water rising. Our rooms were actually really big and we each had private baths but didn't use them. We were each provided with a ticket with the booking for one of the two bath houses in town.

The following are nitpicks: I don't disagree with some reviews that the breakfast was certainly adjusted to Chinese tourists palates instead of a true Japanese breakfast (we were served Jyuk/Congee instead of rice, for example). However the breakfast was incredibly filling and delicious. It's also a bit of a hike to get to so be prepared for that.

Excellent location to use the public onsens and wander around the town. We preferred this type set-up than a half board at one of the hotels with a private onsen. Lovely helpful lady on the hotel reception advised us which onsens were open when - times on the internet in English were incorrect. Also gave us free vouchers each day to use an onsen. We saw others had commented it was hard to find but we found it just fine - 10 mins from station - using google maps.
