Wow, what a phenomenal place. Hotel Hanakoyado, located in the heart of Arima Onsen, is an absolute gem. The facilities are incredibly charming, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. Everything about the hotel - from the peaceful ambiance to the attention to detail - made the stay unforgettable. You’re definitely going to want to include the breakfast and dinner option - it is well worth it. The meals are beautifully prepared, thoughtfully presented, and truly elevate the entire experience. I truly hope life brings me back here one day. Until then, I’ll hold on to the memories of this beautiful experience. Highly recommended to anyone seeking a serene and authentic onsen getaway.

Typical ancient ryokan, everything was simply amazing and we had such a good time there! At the beginning I was afraid we would have to wait much to use the onsens, but it's all well managed. Highly recommend dinner option.

As read in other reviews (and as announced by the staff) the structure is noisy since it's an old building. Nonetheless we had a pleasant and quite stay! Please just be aware that en suite toilet does not have shower. You can enjoy your shower at the onsen.

Its restaurant has amazing chefs, food is beautiful and amazingly delicious. The staff is so friendly and professional. Its facilities are new and convenient in every aspect. It’s Onsen has quality volcanic water and is private and so convenient as the hotel caters small numbers of guests. It is located in the center of Arima onsen, so convenient to walk about nearby vibrant shops and restaurants and only 15 mins walk away from cable car station.

We spent a wonderful 2 nights at this enchanting hotel to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. From the room to the food, the building and the Onsen, it was a celebration for all the senses. The food was exceptional - from dinner to breakfast, the dishes were prepared with the freshest ingredients, all sourced locally. What made the stay truly special was the staff, who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable.

Food was amazing. Service was amazing. We felt well taken care of. Love the private hot springs bath and using the owl indicator to know which bath was open. We also visited the sister inn's outdoor hot springs which had a small divider between men's and women's. I was able to speak with my spouse while there. The grounds there were beautiful. Saw stray or outdoor cats outside as well. Super cute.

We have no complaints. However, it is not a big hotel with lots of grounds compared to the sister inn. Also, if you are looking for outdoor hot springs, this is not the place for you.

Most sincere, honest, professional and passionate staffs we encountered in the entire 12 days trip in Japan. Private and cozy onsen facilities. Old, authentic yet beautiful and charming onsen hotel building. The best dinner and breakfast we during our trip in Japan. We had the best time (and meals) at Hotel Hanakoyado!

This hotel provides free access to their sister hotel Tocen Goshoboh onsen facilities next door. However, the staffs at Tocen Goshoboh were rude and unwelcoming. We did not enjoy the onsen experience at Tocen Goshoboh. However, this is not Hanakoyado's fault. The management at Tocen Goshoboh should look into this issue as I saw countless negative reviews about Tocen Goshoboh and their rudeness staffs.

The wonderful experience of Onsen Ryokan. The coziness, how they greet the customer. The room was great, love the little seating area. Modern facilities and yet traditional kinds of design. The kaiseki dinner prepared was amazing, lovely chef.

Understood it might need a little bit crowded during check in time, but it did have a slight longer waiting time during check in.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They kindly informed us about the Arima-Rokko ropeway shutdown times when we mentioned we were going there late in the day and organised a shuttle bus to drop/pickup from the station. They also had 2 private onsen that didn’t require additional fee or booking to use. The food was prepared with care and was truly delicious.

The staff is nice, very polite, friendly and helpful. We had arrived before check in time, she gave us free tickets for the Toys museum to use time in there. She had introduced about the facilities in this hotel and regulations. For private onsen, we are fall in love with Ginsen that is the best onsen. We can used the Onsen in Goshoboh for free before 8pm but we had already went there before went to Hotel Hanakoyado.
